  1. Went again last night. Last Heat decider, from 12 down. So reasonable excitement until the end. Wonderful display by Kye Thompson, taking the scalps of Fricke & Bomber. 18+1 from 7. Did his job and MORE. Thoroughly deserves any plaudits he's getting today. Scored as many as Cook & Kerr combined. Who I think were admirable stand-ins (wouldn't see Zagar getting Cooks points) The disappointing thing for me, was Lidney, Klindt (after a 6 ride max the night before) & Batchelor. They're not world beaters, but would expect them to collect around 20 points at home. They totalled 5!!!!!! I know there may well be reasons for some of it, but come on. Will be going to the next meeting & we're already talking about the trip to Leicester in July.
  2. Was also at Elfield until it closed. So you will know, the biggest problems were - The Speedway board seemingly doing their damndest to make sure it was unsuccessful (begining to sound familiar), with fines etc. Coventry, who seemed to think MK were a threat to their gates!!!! 🤷‍♂️ The local council always upholding the local residents complaints (noise etc). Local scumbags who kept vandalising the stadium. Causing Terry Cheney to spend money on security & repairs. Rather than improving the facilities. The facilities at Brafield, Terry would have given both arms for. It has great potential. The trouble is Speedways Rulers are no better than all our politicians. They're the reason British speedway is in such a mess.
  3. Was there last Thursday. Not giving up after one home meeting. Already have tickets for Thursday meet. Sure one or two riders not coming up with the goods, but lets give them a chance. Took my daughter & granddaughter last week. Though my daughter had been with me before (to MK), my granddaughter was completely new to this. she thoroughly enjoyed it and is looking forward to this week. Speedway can hardly afford for such a facility to fail, especially with people giving up so soon!!
  4. i for one am looking forward to it coming off. Haven't been to a meeting since the demise of Elfield Park @ MK however, having watch some on Sky & youtube. All the messing around at the start is off putting. My one concern is, 6 teams in the league!!! Really should look back to 64/65. Think there should be an amalgamation. link for Defunct tracks. http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk/Brafield.htm
  5. Briggo & Ivan were works riders, so no real surprise they had Jawa on Leathers I seem to recall the one of the first with no apparent connection to speedway, was Smith Crisps with Jim McMillan.
  6. Went regularly when it opened, could walk from home. Racing could be pretty good on occasions, but track was never as good as possibly could of been. Although Pete Seaton tried his best. Went one weekend to help out giving the place a spruce up, as well as going after work one night to help out with track preparation. back ached after picking out so many stones!! As already said, vandalism didn't help, but nor did the nimbyism of one or two local estates. Always happy to put up with the noise for 2-3 days, of a concert. As well as the disruption of road closures and thousands of milling souls. But not Speedway for 2 hours every week. Admittedly it was a school night. Even when Terry turned to the Speedway family(!!??), for help, he wanted to move race night to Saturdays, to try and encourage a few more through the turnstiles, to hopefully at least break even. Elfield was such major venue and draw(mmmmmm), that obviously feeling threatened by the move, Coventry vetoed it!! And so it died a death. And look where British Speedway is now!!!
