  1. If the signing of Zagar is refused by the BSPL, they have two choices. Re-sign Jake Allen or use the No8. They could still sign Zagar and use , after 25% of the League meetings have been completed, I make that after May 19th (Weather & cancellations allowing) and proving averages still fit.
  2. Lemon could become the Baldrick of speedway, with his cunning plans. After the failed plans re Woofinden & Bewley, he signed Jake Allen on a 28 days contract. This must have been sanctioned by the BSPA as it was mentioned on the website. The authorities knowing full well that it was more than likely that Jake would be replaced after the 28 days, so I assume their interpretation of the start of the season is the beginning of the League campaign. They should have adjusted the rules when they introduced the new cup competition, to make things less ambiguous, but that is the norm for the BSPA.
  3. 010.3 Rule quoted in previous posts is the key factor as to whether BV have broken any rule. What actually is the start of the season ? in my view it is the first official meeting of the new season be it Cup or League. Therefore BV have broken the rules. Surely if they get away with this, this season everyone will follow suit next year, and put a trial rider in at the start, and change it if they are not successful.
  4. Yes it is odd that so far the BSPA have not said anything about BV signing Zagar, is there yet another glitch. I do not think BV will win anything even with Zagar, who with a 7.5 ish average shows he was nothing special last time he was here. Don't think we will even make the play-offs.
  5. I cannot say I am overjoyed that it could be Zagar joining the team, from recall he was not one of the better No 1s that we have had, but one of the most expensive. If it is a done deal then why have the management not announced it. Obviously Zagar will be better than what we have got, but I still feel that we will not win the league, poor team management and inconsistent riders will see to that, plus the fairness of the track, in that we rarely get a huge advantage from the home leg of the Play -Offs. I am old fashioned in believing the team at the top of the League at the end of the season should be the true Champions, and the Play Off winners are Knock out Cup Winners only.
  6. Lemon has left us in a position whereby any half decent rider approached will want a high fee to ride for us, as we are now in a desperate position. I can see us doing a Kings Lynn and signing a temporary rider, before the start of the Polish season, but still struggling to get anyone decent after that. Yet another poor decision, on lemons part.
  7. Scot, Bomber & Hans, in their prime were all a class above most of the modern day riders, and still are capable of more than just holding their own, so Peterborough should have another good year. Perhaps they may find it harder without the advantage of the flexibility of R/R or guest at No 1. Not having a go at Peterborough, but R/R or Guest facility for an injured rider, should be limited in time, not all season long, they should have to sign a new rider, but when the injured rider is fit again they can be brought back into the team.
  8. If we assume Kurtz and Brennan are nailed on, it does not leave a lot to pick from. At a rough glance it leaves, from riders that rode last year, Jye Etheridge, Jake Allen, Ben Barker, Kasper Andersen, Broc Nicol, Jason Crump, James Wright one other not over here last year could be Rohan Tungate Not a great lot to pick from, unless they have a surprise up their sleeve. I do dislike this drip feeding of riders, when others have announced full squads.
  9. The last two teams mentioned, are not teams to win the league, too many iffy and average riders. Belle Vue really need to strengthen from last year and the last two above teams are weaker. R.Tungate is very up and down, on form can be good to watch around the NSS. C.Wright had a very mediocre season last year, no consistency. B.Kurtz gets too many last places for a heat leader, but can be very quick when in front. J Etheridge is ok as a reserve, but not in the main body of the team. M Fricke should be a good as a No 1, rode well for us last time. J Allen would like to see him as a regular at BV, as has had some good scores at the NSS. T Brennan definitely have him back, has the potential to improve. These are just my opinions of teams that have been mentioned, would be great if we could pull a surprise out of the bag, but options are limited with seeing some of the declared teams.
