Done a bit of digging in my archives and its Ladbrookes Coral that I was thinking of who own a few greyhound tracks, including Monmore Green, or did at the time I was looking into it.
I was thinking more general than just Scotland, sure some of the tracks were up for sale for development and bought up by bookies. No way a bookie would step in for speedway as nowt in it for them.
I think a few of the greyhound stadiums were bought by the big bookies - I suspect there is good money for them in the betting on greyhounds so they do not want to see that sport go.
ok. Interesting your comment about the Workington public, that is a side of speedway I haven't really got my head round since getting back to watching.
Maybe that's because I am happy to watch any good racing, rather than being attached to one team.
Feels like one step forward and two back with clubs at the moment.
Sad to see this news & that about Poole being on a short lease not long after the good news of Oxford re opening.
Memories of the frequent humiliation of being picked last for teams at school sports coming back now! LOL
Too riders out injured and it might come to that tho
Ok. Guess its a tricky one to make rules on as high risk sport, so probability of genuine rider absence is high, but too many guests and you start to question whether it really is X team getting that result.
With all the comments I see about lack of riders and a lot racing abroad half the week I wonder if there would there be enough available as guests is appearances were limited?
A question I have on guests is whether there is a limit to how many guests a team can have for one meeting? Think it was last week there were 3 guests in a team for one meeting.
