What about Northampton?
Bojangles replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Same at Oxford. There are numerous Reading (and even a few Swindon) fans who attend each week, wearing their old club kit. -
Oxford v Sheffield 14.8.25
Bojangles replied to Manifesto's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
They are concrete. Congrats Sheffield -
Oxford is making a profit, but that isn't shutting him up!
-
Not really. The rumours are simply based on Kevin Boothby's illness (he's got leukemia), so they are presuming Towcester and Oxford will be in trouble. Reality is the plans for Suffolk Downs are still ongoing, so there's likely to be more tracks in Boothby's portfolio - not less. If the worst does happen, and he steps down, Mike Davis is likely to take over.

GP line-up for 2026
Bojangles replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It would need Lebedevs and Kubera BOTH to get in the top seven for Thomsen to get a place. A Lebedevs (or Madsen/Woryna) SEC win will mean an extra wildcard pick (four instead of three). -
GP line-up for 2026
Bojangles replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Imagine.... Zmarzlik Kurtz Lindgren Bewley Holder Lebedevs Lambert Kubera (Challenge) Woryna (Challenge) Madsen (Challenge) Jepsen Jensen (Challenge) Dudek (SEC) Fricke (WC) Laguta (WC) Sayfutdinov (WC) Now that would be some line-up. -
The crazy thing is.... Oxford is a perfectly good use case to prove what he says is wrong. Yet he keeps saying the opposite. Absolutely no reason why a Swindon return shouldn't be just as successful as Oxford's.
-
They shouldn't be.... as it's already been explained to them once. They are just using it over and over again as a source to suit their own agenda, and hoping nobody calls them out on it. P.S: Good luck to all involved with Swindon.
-
You keep making nonsense up! We've already had a conversation like this on the Wimbledon thread when you tried to claim this and you were proved completely wrong there as well. There is absolutely NO doubt over Oxford's future. It's a business currently making a healthy profit, they get good crowds every week and have a lease that doesn't expire until 2032, with a high probability of that being extended if Kevin Boothby's latest comments are anything to go by. Why you keep lying to suit your own anti-speedway agenda is beyond me. Do you get a kick out of it? But why don't YOU tell us all what the speculation over Oxford's future is? Enlighten us all as maybe you know something everybody else doesn't.

Thank God the people of Oxford didn't have your attitude. Oxford's success pretty much proves every single point you made as utter nonsense.

Prediction of 2025 Championship league
Bojangles replied to Bitza's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Starting to look like a battle between Oxford and Redcar for the last spot. Could all come down to Wednesday's meeting between the two sides, would be a huge boost for the Cheetahs if they take all three points. 1. Glasgow 2. Poole 3. Edinburgh 4. Oxford 5. Redcar 6. Berwick 7. Plymouth 8. Workington 9. Scunthorpe -
But that doesn't always tell the full story. Track prep is often limited by track access, something most multi-use stadiums struggle with. Oxford is a prime example of this. The track for Cheetahs meetings on a Wednesday are rarely as dusty as the track for Spires meetings on a Thursday - because they have to wait for the greyhound meeting to finish in the afternoon. It makes a lot of difference.

Oxford Cheetahs v Plymouth Gladiators 23/7/25

@arnieg was that you who wrote the World Games piece in the programme? A great read. -

Absolutely lovely to see Scott Nicholls back on a bike, and great to see him get such a great reception from both Plymouth and Oxford fans. He got better as the meeting progressed, clearly still knows the fastest way around Sandy Lane. -

Rider replacement for Mitch McDiarmid now... it's getting ridiculous. Just four regular Cheetahs riders left. Who's next? -
Fair point. I can't argue with that.
-
Maybe the fact people can't find these events is a far bigger issue than forum members being naive? If people on here with an active interest in the sport can't find them, how are newcomers supposed to? These 'opportunities' need to be far better promoted if they are to make a noticeable difference.
-
Apologies, I just presumed it was a case of mistaken Ashtons. No idea where the Speedway Star got that information from - maybe they mistook them instead?
-
Thoughts on this one? Berwick have a few riders with plenty of Oxford experience, but the Cheetahs looking far stronger at reserve. Zach Cook guesting for Jordan Jenkins and rider replacement for poor Danyon Hume. Oxford: 1. Sam Masters, 2 Jonas Knudsen, 3 Zach Cook (G), 4. Mitchell McDiarmid, 5. Cameron Heeps, 6. Francis Gusts, 7. Luke KIlleen Berwick: 1. Craig Cook, 2. Sam Hagon, 3. R/R, 4. Drew Kemp, 5. Peter KIidemand, 6. Dayle Wood, 7. Jack Smith

Sorry, duplicate post.

Just when you thought the Oxford Spires season couldn't get more bleak. Erik Riss is out of action for the foreseeable... Get well soon Erik.

I think he's got his Ashtons muddled up, and means Boughen. Ashton Vale hasn't retired.
