  1. What makes you both think that? On pure 2025 averages (across all meetings) alone, Mitch was higher... 6.18 - Mitchell McDiarmid 5.68 - Fraser Bowes Do you think Bowes will improve more than McDiarmid in 2026 - at a new home track, whereas Mitch is at the same track as in 2025? I can't it even see it being close in Mitch's favour. Each to their own though.
  2. Indeed. If he's capable of producing this in the Premiership, he's an absolute steal on his average in the Championship. A real trump card (as long as he's healthy).
  3. It's a typical Oxford Mail sensationalist headline. The £2m debt mentioned is actually £2m in creditors and the figure used is from 2023. Direct quote "...the last update on Companies House stating it had creditors worth £2,005,715 at the end of 2023." Speedway at Oxford is in no danger.
  4. In all seriousness, I heard Ritchings and Summers - although Perry wouldn't surprise me.
  5. Oxford to announce Cooper Rushen a first reserve on Tuesday.
  6. Yeah, exactly that. GB Speedway is our version of Wisden (at least since 2010).
  7. That's not true. Masters has a higher GSA, but Lawson had a better average on 2025 meetings alone. Lawson = 10.33 Masters = 10.21
  8. There's a lot of assumptions on this thread.
  9. Chris Harris Kyle Howarth Leon Flint Mario Hausl Kevin Juhl Pedersen Sam Hagon Freddy Hodder
  10. I haven't heard that one, although wouldn't surprise me as he seemed quite popular when he guested. Only heard Gilkes, Killeen and Rushen so far.
  11. You can sign a pre-agreed contract before you are 16, it just doesn't become effective until you turn 16. That's exactly what Cairns did (presumably), and what Rushen has done.
  12. If Oxford had adopted that model, running in all three league might have worked. Part of the problem was the exact opposite of that. It was very weird watching Sam Masters for Leicester, Charles Wright for Redcar, Jordan Jenkins for Ipswich, etc.
  13. No Jordan Jenkins at Oxford next year.
  14. That's the Speedway Star getting the wrong end of the stick I'm afraid. It wasn't a direct interview with the Star, but a piece written from a press release. Said press release never said 'top flight operation', but simply that the Spires wouldn't be running in 2026. Fact is none of us know which league the Cheetahs will be in, so any speculation is exactly that at this stage... speculation.
  15. Pretty sure @arnieg has done more for speedway than 99% of people on this forum. And I'm 100% sure he cares more than you.
  16. Oxford a prime example of that. Cheetahs got bigger crowds than the Spires this season (not that the Cheetahs won anything, but they were at least more competitive).
  17. It's not exactly just a speedway thing, though, is it? Happens in almost every sport. Declan Rice (football, Ireland and England) and Israel Folau (rugby, Australia and Tonga) are two high profile ones I can think of off the top of my head... although I'm sure there are thousands of examples.
  18. Just realised Redcar are still in the hunt for the quadruple. When was the last team to win four trophies in one season?
  19. And you're a fine example of somebody who loves to attend speedway meetings in person right? Shame you said the exact opposite three months ago....
  20. Well... you don't exclude GP riders for no reason, you set a realistic points limit that makes it affordable for all. That's the theory anyway.
  21. Well it worked last season, just not this season. While the novelty factor was always going to wear off, I honestly think Oxford should have a good look at how they went about it. Poor team building, shocking team management and getting trounced every week are not a good recipe for success. Most Oxford fans I spoke to actually enjoyed the weekly speedway, but their enthusiasm waned as the season progressed for the reasons mentioned above.
