I don't think so. Given the feedback and the frustration of most Worky fans there was no point in dragging it out for this long. No doubt there has been a sticking point re wages but now it is settled we can look forward to seeing a decent side that will hold its own. Definately not fully signed 2 months ago.

Yes. BE still own the site so have to be involved for sports like speedway can return. Can't see it as being an easy path for speedway to return as BE could just stall with any offer for the rent knowing that sometimes in the future they will go away. Sad

There wasn"t last year. ACU brought in a new multi motor sport licence application to cover all disciplines. I and all of the Berwick team plus Josh were tearing their hair out trying to give the right answesr to each section with very little success. I spoke to Neil Vatcher who in the end agreed that I could miss out some sections and eventually the request was accepted and the license issued. I did not do anybodies licence request this year as I was so pissed off with last year.

It didn't last year. Hope they have simplified the new system to the satisfaction of the riders.

He was quite good on the lesser engine 18 months ago and no doubt he is a lot bigger now and ready for the 500cc challenge. His Dad is a tall bloke.

Could BE ask for an excessive rent for the hire and or only allow access during race day.

Making a return to the sport.

Mixed feelings about that. Yes the new riders would attract more supporters and get some practice in on their new track. There is also the chance that with such a great field in Bonanza meetings, new riders signed on lower averages might not look their best against the stronger field. Just make sure they are all there on the day and presented to the crowd. That gives them the chance to see how the riders prepare, how they ride their track and what lines to chose and why.

Stones in sponges not allowed.

A big family of brothers and sisters and a friend. Nearly all Music teachers. Very Good.

What is the distance from Glasgow airport to Armadale.? NB It is 35 miles unfortunately

It is a very practical solution. Presuming Redcar hasn't started to get their track unto speed, it is sensible and more practical to get track time at somewhere near them who will have their track prepped for their amateur meetings. I wouldn't think the racing will amount to much but getting on the track, testing and setting up their bikes and having a bit of opposition as well as a bit of chin wag with their new team mates and management will help them set up their season perfectly. They will certainly be fit physically and mentally with Gavin in charge.

Got to be 2001 for us at Newcastle. We won the PL with some style and were popular visitors everywhere with star men Bjarne, Jesper, Kevin, Andre capable of riding both small tracks like Newcastle but also the big tracks like Exeter and Sheffield. Due to our success our travelling fans increased enormously as they realised that we were going to do the business everywhere we went. Second positions in the Pairs , Fours and Individual PL meetings with Bjarne, Jesper particularly leading the way. Fabulous meeting at Brough to clinch the PL title against Glasgow and then Alex Harkess presenting the PL Trophy on behalf of the BSPA. We even carried Jesper for a little while, injured with his troublesome shoulder, replacing his absence mostly with our other headleaders. Newcastle fans will never forget that season and we just got pipped the following year, topping the PL again but losing out on overall points to a team with a big home advantage. Great Days.

There's quite a few especially at the bottom end of teams. Top lads yes as they need to be available for all leagues and guest bookings.

Could still get decent riders but not the ones with other continental aspiratioms. A lot of riders who have a full time job would be looking for a Saturday track.
-
Decent enough side with the potential of 3 high scoring reserves. Mulford had a mare last season with injuries and off form, but he still had the potential to score big especially when he's flat out. Jorgensen can be the main factor to make this side really good. Redcar is an easier track to ride than say Brough, so he needs to show up with his form from other big tracks. Looking forward to be a regular attender this year after missing most of this year. 'mon the Bears.

Some clubs Yes, but then only a useful contribution to what the promoters have to provide.

Those days are long gone.

I read that with other NDL teams not running next year, Worky and another team were advised of there being no NDL in 24, so they were recommended by the BSPL to go into the Championship.
-
And it's well worth the visit for other teams. On a Saturday and at 3 o clock means it's a great and convenient day out.

Rumour had it that the Stocks promoter Steve Rees I think, was asking too much rent for speedway when he opened it again and not forgetting the 3/4th bends would not comply with current track regulations and also the need for new pits, riders car park, new electrics and mandatory air fence.

Brafield was one of 6 clubs, along with Newcastle, who were active to try and start a parallel second league in 1996. BSPA got wind of it and created the new Premier League. Teams were invited to join, and only after we had joined,. were we informed that they would not agree to our pay rates and we all found we had to run with higher points money level.

As Grand Central said in a previous post, Brian signed for us at the backend of 1991 on probably a loan deal. He went into Coventry's team the following year. Yes Petri went to Reading as a gift from us after the 1994 season as we knew he was a good gater and would come good as a rider with UK experience. His wife Anna worked I think with air traffic control in London so Reading was handy for him.
-
He probably was. We understood he joined us for the last 6 weeks of the season to give him UK experience. He certainly wasn't in the frame for us the following season. Probably a Loan deal.

He was a high flyer in GKN , a Director I think, as well as running a firm that organised concerts/artists/events. The Newcastle Diamonds were in his latter company. Havvy Senior wanted to buy Newcastle along with Bunter Barnes with George English. They couldn't meet his price and I was approached having just took Redundancy from British Gas. I joined them and talks continued and suddenly Richard needed cash and we got the club for a song. Unfortunately the owner of Brough Kevin Wilde hated speedway and wanted rid of us so we only owned the club for a few months. We sold all the riders and George and Me spent the next couple of years looking for an alternative venue.
