Nothing wrong with practicing on a different track, especially one with less dirt on than Redcars. Many teams hire other tracks to have a day out on, for all sorts of reasons .

Only Charles has never had sign writing on any of his vans, he doesn’t even own a van, simply uses an unmarked hired one during the season . As for your childish comment , no rider likes anyone getting in their way, team mate or not.

British U21 Final
KK62 replied to Chris116's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Or , more likely, they are waiting to see which club would volunteer to run it based on any of their riders being in it so they might hope to attract a half decent crowd. -
You might think there is, but do you really believe it’s being adhered too by all the clubs ?
-
and if a sensible pay structure was used for a ‘development’ league then a few hundred would be just fine, but don’t expect the likes of Clegg, Morley etc to want to ride for expenses only style wages.
-
I can assure you the lad has been in touch with every club running in the NDL. Your second point. Not just Redcar, Edinburgh would be clued up also, as they run two teams in the NJL.
-
I’m not the promoter ( anymore ) or even the team manager so it’s upto the management to do what they see fit. There are a number of riders associated with the club who could be considered for the final team spot, Katie being one of them. Would love to see Rachael Hellowell get a spot at Edinburgh too. As for crowds, it’s a development league and should not be expected to attract big crowds or even make a profit, although that would be nice. It’s one step up from the NJL and the amateur scene so don’t expect it to be a big earner for any club. The I.O.W. actually charge riders to ride in such meetings and people on this site rave about the clubs activities so isn’t that an eye opener.

Why a ‘waste’ ? Its supposed to be a DEVELOPMENT league so why not give someone NEW a chance ? It’s not supposed to be about winning at all costs .

2024 TESTIMONIAL CONFIRMED! 2019 British Champion Charles Wright is delighted to confirm details for his Testimonial in 2024, which is set to take place at Redcar's Ecco Arena on Sunday, March 17; Tapes Up 3pm. Wright, who is set to star for the Agilia Bears in his seventh season in Teesside, has also announced that the event will take the form of a 16-rider individual meeting. He said: “With the Championship fixtures now released, I’m really excited to confirm the date and venue for my testimonial meeting next year. “The hard work has already started to make this a fun and exciting day of racing. A few things are already in place, and I’m already looking forward to it. “I’d like to thank BSP for granting me a testimonial in 2024, and the management and promotion team at Redcar for their support in bringing my meeting to the Ecco Arena.” Further information, including rider line-ups and sponsorship packages will be communicated via Charles’ official racing Facebook page.

Just because you are not in the know doesn’t mean I have to tell you. I know because I assist the rider concerned . I’m not naming names as that is upto the club press office to do or the rider and it isn’t my club so they can do things the way they see fit. The rider concerned has now got another team so it’s all good now .

Think you will have some good news shortly but your right, it’s not the way to treat kids.

As I know that you are well informed your probably not far out but If it’s truly a ‘ development’ league now perhaps it will follow the Polish model and become an Under 24 style league which may rule out the likes of Crang and Phillips, although that might be a little harsh and as it’s a new beginning probably not required. Personally I’d keep them in as their experience would be invaluable for some of those untried newbies.

First I knew about it was reading it Ont Tinternet this morning so, yes….Ill be busy…..but not with speedway.
-
Stop teasing…we know YOU know.

NDL riders at the speedway show were very optimistic with Oxford, Leicester and Belle Vue confirmed and rumours of joint teams running out of Scunthorpe and possibly another northern based track. With so few league fixtures looking likely clubs will be looking for date fillers and a small NDL commitment could be the answer, if they can find the riders willing to ride for fun and just expenses rather than profit so less financial risk to the host clubs. But we will all have to wait and see …

He does enjoy throwing curve balls…

Tut tut, just because your on ‘the inside’ doesn’t mean you know more than the keyboard warriors….behave yourself !

Now THAT…I will give you.

Again….the BSPL did not destroy it, they simply stopped the use of ‘ghost ‘ names, the teams could still have ran under a different name associated with the track they ran out of. Im no fan of the BSPL but they did not destroy it, the will to run it ( and the BSPL had nothing to do with that either) simply ran out because of the names used.
-
Your kidding yourself if you think the MDL still exists, it doesn’t ! One club , in the MIDLANDS ,running two teams against a Redcar side, in the NORTH, is NOT a league. The BSPL never had anything to do with running the MDL or any other junior league so don’t blame them. But Birmingham do an excellent job of providing racing for the youth, so you got that bit right.
-
Why do we have to reduce it ? Clubs are more than capable of running 15 heats and a six heat second half….and more ! Redcar , and a few other northern clubs, do it every week.
-
Whatever they come up with for a new version of the NDL they will have to tackle the issue of payments. Fifty percent and more of the current breed of NDL riders expect good payment for riding, some are paid the same as good Championship riders and this has to stop if there is to be any hope of clubs willing to run some form of NDL style racing alongside their current team racing. Riders have to get their heads round it being a ‘hobby’ at this level and not a full time job. Wasting their money on logo’s vans, fan merchandise etc, the priority is learning to ride first, then ‘race’, the time will come, if they are good enough, for the flash stuff. If there is to be a mini version of NDL type racing, perhaps as part of a national style second half racing, but regionalised to reduce travel costs, then riders have to get their head round it being a possible stepping stone to ‘semi professional’ racing, not a ‘good earner’ as some view it now. I do hope the powers that be come up with a workable alternative to the NDL or the sport will die.

Redcar v Scunthorpe KO Cup Semi Final (2nd Leg) 06/10/23
KK62 replied to stumper's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Wow! I wouldn’t even imagine telling my track curator ( Jonathan ) when to do his job ! and I don’t seek advice from team managers either . The Ref is in charge and the promoter tells me what he would like to happen. I wouldn’t be in the role long if I told them their jobs ! -

As a current clerk of the course I can inform you this is all sorted at a pre meeting discussion . The referee runs the meeting, and track grading is sorted between the ref, the team managers and the track curator . Team managers, riders etc can ASK for track grades during a meeting at any time, this occurred on Friday, but it’s upto the ref if he allows it. Some tracks don’t have intervals , Redcar being one of them. Im sure every Clerk has his own club protocol to discuss with a referee before a meeting. -

Do you think clubs just have ‘staff’ in cupboards waiting to be brought out at 48 hours notice ?
