  2. I very much doubt it as most of the staff will be still in or travelling from the GP.
  3. Depends what you mean by ‘promotion’ ? The league has never been high profile and no one who is involved in it is concerned about promotion. All the northern clubs know about it, it runs each year, it works ! . Teams and riders come and go and the NJL has produced a steady stream of riders to the NDL and above . Any type of ‘ promotion ‘ won’t change that but if it’s just more ‘ coverage ‘ your after then that’s probably down to the co-ordinator to be a bit more pro active possibly. The league is struggling to find riders, particularly 125 lads to race in each of the teams but that is an issue that is now affecting the hole of the sport and will be a serious issue in the coming seasons for all levels.
  4. Why should they move dates when it was made clear that the league fixtures had to be completed by the end of August at the AGM last year ! Most clubs do not want to run in October as the weather is so unpredictable and some clubs cannot run passed a certain date as we have seen in the past. BSN do not just turn up with 24 hours notice either !
  5. To put another side on that, it is more often the ‘successful club’ who try to dictate as they want the fixture when it’s suits them !
  6. Fixtures are always prone to be changed due to ‘priorities’, in this case the clubs were told to get BSN out of the way first, then told to get early cup rounds completed by a set date now they are being told to prioritise the league, it’s not the individual club that changes them to suit ,it’s dictated and I mean that literally , by the BSPL. Always going to cause issues for the Friday night tracks particularly those who have ‘seniority’ and impose dates on the opposition.
  7. Great performance by the two Redcar Cubs boys , Seth and Ollie , especially as Seth has stepped up onto the 250 bike and not ridden a lot of 125 races recently.
  8. Without giving you a copy of the lease let’s just inform you that there is a stipulated difference between a ‘ Race Meeting ‘ , a ‘ Practice ‘ and a day time ‘ Amateur Meeting ‘ held on a weekend, all of which are fully explained on the lease. If the club applies for a ‘ special exemption ‘ each application is looked at and a decision made on its validity. Clear now ?
  9. You don’t follow the sport much do you ….” Integrity “ !…..like Barker guesting for Ipswich replacing Riss who was guesting the same night for Peterborough as he couldn’t ride for his own team because of the guest !.
  10. I think you’ll find my facts are right, as I negotiated the lease .
  11. Yes really, as they don’t pay Glasgow style wages , like £100 a point ! they run the club on a realistic budget based on gate receipts ,sponsorship income and revenue from weekend sessions and hiring out the stadium. That’s why they haven’t followed Workington ( the previous one ) Eastbourne , Newcastle and a few others.
  12. Redcar were KO cup winners in 2019. It costs them a lot less of that sum to run each year.
  13. and received a ‘yellow card ‘ warning from the council on the noise complaints so haven’t repeated it since.
  14. Not quite true, Redcar and one or two others can , if they choose too but will be restricted to ONE meeting per week as per the lease.
  15. Read his book, he pulls no punches, he says he is an ‘Ozzie’ so he’s an Ozzie !
  16. You mean like those that were tried with the ‘ Dugard ‘ 140 engines for junior racing? only for the seals to be ‘copied’ and offered around by another engine tuner and the scheme was abandoned within weeks .
  17. Ashfield Giants 21 Tim Colley 2* ,2*, 1……5 and two bonus Kieran Douglas 3, 3, 3,….9 ( maximum ) Rhys Harrow 2, 1, 1….4 Stene Pijper EF, EF, 3…3 Redcar Cubs 15 Edward Davison 1, 1, 0……..2 Alex Goldsbrough 0, 0, 2….2 Rocco Webb 3, 3, EF…….6 Liam Morris 1, 2*, 2…5 and one bonus.
  18. Like that would be a worthwhile excessive .
  19. Surprised no one is discussing his reason for not taking a drugs test ? just because he was allegedly owed money by his club ? Being angry is no excuse and a very, very poor one anyway. Drugs tests are nothing to do with any club and every rider knows you get a ban for not taking them, even the much abused , and rightly so, Jason Garrity took all the drugs tests put infront of him and passed them , somewhat surprisingly, but he took them as have other well know drug takers within the sport, as they know the consequences. Im not for a moment suggesting Boxhall is/was under any sort of drug/medication but not taking the test should be an automatic life time ban in my opinion as it’s the only way to stamp it out altogether and tests should be compulsory at all tracks for all riders.
  20. Because they don’t get chance too. Meetings are called off on weather forecasts sometimes days before the meeting. I have been at ‘rain affected’ meetings where the main match took place, all 15 heats without issues only for the ref to decide it was too ‘dangerous’ for the second half riders to go out despite the fact all of them wanted too ! The youth of today do not get an opportunity to ride in non perfect conditions because they only get to ride on slick , bone dry tracks like they are presented with 95% of the time as that’s what’s produced for them, particularly at the one track open to them every weekend. You may have seen one very keen youth travel from Plymouth to Redcar four weeks running to hire a track with dirt on it , for private tuition on a championship standard prepared track, and it’s showing in his results, give the youth chance to ride in ALL conditions on ALL tracks. Run u-19 , U-21 ,U-24 British GP rounds at as many tracks that will host them, not one off events on one track.
  21. As a first time visitor to the new Workington I struggled to find anything to be negative about. The layout is GREAT , elevated viewing for all spectators, a couple of seated stands , plenty of space and more than acceptable facilities for a brand new track although my wife would suggest the toilets need to be the next area for improvement. As I was ‘ involved ‘ in the after match racing I can say that the pits are enormous, plenty of room not just for the main teams but second halfers / juniors too. The staff were all keen, enthusiastic and very welcoming , from the security man at the main gate right through to the BBQ staff afterwards , although they were very overworked ! Good atmosphere and good crowd helped by sensible pricing , brilliant weather, yes, a little dusty but it’s SPEEDWAY after all. I highly recommend a visit and I will be going again. Massive congratulations to Mr. Bain, Lawson and ALL the volunteers who made this happen.
