Crazy that some people are moaning about Will Cairns. I'm sure some of it is down to the old Poole jealously factor, but in reality he has a great future. I've seen enough of him riding to know that he has plenty of potential, but give him time (which I also hope he does himself - unlike Ashton Boughen). He's 16 years old, so is always going to be a bit up and down. And don't forget he was up against arguably the strongest reserve pairing in the league in Luke Killeen and Francis Gusts - two riders who started the season in the league above.

Oxford Chargers v Belle Vue Colts 27/7/25 3pm
BackInTheDHSS replied to NumberEight's topic in National League Speedway
I'm no Peter Schroeck fan but, no, it's absolute nonsense. No idea who started that rumour, but it's been taken completely out of context. Richard Palmer was interviewing Freddy Hodder before the start of the meeting and thanked him for his good performance when guesting in the last home meeting against Leicester. Hodder simply replied with "I'm sorry I can't guest for you today" as a joke, and somebody has taken that as if he was asked to guest. -
Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025

Unreliable yes, but I bet he's missed less meetings than Nick Morris over the last two years! 😆 -
Victor Palovaara replaces Craig Cook.
-
Not great. Still very healthy for the Cheetahs and Chargers, but Spires crowds have definitely dropped off.

You spelt ‘sorry, I got it wrong’ wrong.

I reckon I can pinpoint it…. To just about here.

What?! Scott Nicholls. Not jealous at all. Look after him for us.

Workington v Poole Sat 12th July 6pm start
BackInTheDHSS replied to AndiCapp's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I love how the immediate reaction of some Poole fans after a loss is to want riders to be sacked. Was exactly the same after the home loss to Oxford earlier in the season. Such a bunch of bad losers, with no real love for those that ride for them. -
Oxford vs Berwick - Championship - 9/7

Special mention for Sam Masters tonight. He was in a class of his own. A joy to watch. -
Don’t think Nicholls will be back this season will he?
-
Good grief. Let’s hope you never have to run a business with that attitude. You’d go bankrupt quicker than Workington.
-
It's this attitude that stinks, and one that British Speedway also seems to abide by. It's all cloak and daggers, and treating the fans with little to no respect. Of course people have the right to know. We're the paying public, without us no speedway club would exist. Many of us have been impacted, and lost out financially for having paid accommodation for meetings that have been cancelled as a result of this. But no....screw us.... we don't matter.
-
Good job nobody took me up on that bet! Gulp.
-
And you think there's going to be another announcement? You've been in this game long enough to know how British Speedway works. I'll bet anyone on here good money that we won't hear a thing today - once again leaving fans in the dark.

https://britishspeedway.co.uk/cab-direct-championship/bsp-statement-workington-speedway/ https://workingtoncomets.com/workington-speedway-statement-2/ Seven days are up, and there's been no mention of it being extended, so.....

Wimbledon Dons...back from the dead?!!
BackInTheDHSS replied to WookieboyDon's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I can assure you that’s far from been decided. -
I believe they let those with mobility issues park at the stadium itself now.

Said in an interview at Oxford a few weeks ago that he’s unlikely to be back this season, but will definitely be back in 2026.

Scunthorpe Vs Oxford 20/06/25

It’s not over yet! -
While I agree with most of what you say..... the decision to sign Knudsen was very last minute. The initial plan was to go with Scott Nicholls and Jody Scott, but ended up having the change tact when Nicholls informed them he wouldn't be fit. Jonas Knudsen and Cameron Heeps were then drafted in. The club probably panicked a little and did what they could to make the line-up as competitive as possible.
