  1. Is it mutually exclusive to be "committed" to British speedway and also ride here because it benefits him? As has been said, we all go to work because it benefits us but we can still be committed while we're there. Jason Doyle came to this country 18 years ago and aside from 2009 has only missed riding here because of COVID. He is legitimately the definition of committed to British speedway. I agree, but they're right on this occasion.
  2. Don't know what's worse, that team or the fact it's only 0.01 under the limit. Wow.
  3. I think you vastly overestimate the level of resistance and the difference it would actually make. Very sadly for speedway there is very little chance that it'll be stopped. The sporting use covenant will be covered by some multi-use 3g pitch and that'll be that. It's an awful realisation that your club's existence is very likely coming to an end, but it's happening more and more each passing year. I feel for Poole's fans.
  4. Must be one of the only things he has passed.
  5. Speedway isn't a big sport let's be honest, if people know what footballers are earning then we almost certainly know what speedway riders are earning too.
  6. Why? Glasgow have, and spend, more money than most other clubs - why be so defensive about it?
  7. That's preposterous, he clearly wouldn't fit at reserve alongside Kyle Legault.
  8. I was reading an old U21 SWC programme earlier and there was a good interview with Bickley in there, he mentioned he was best mates with Craig Cook. If Workington could get 2 local lads like Cook/Bickley back in then maybe they'd spur each other on. I don't think Bickley will ever be a world beater, but he's still only 21 and the standard of reserves in next year's Championship looks weak. Shame to see his talent lost to speedway.
  9. Probably will be next season due to a weaker Championship. Sadly this will further mislead people to think that Pickering is a genuine number one. Surprised he's back at Edinburgh mind. I was expecting the about face to come back to the Championship, but back to the team he bid farewell to 2 months ago is something else.
  10. He's a middle order Ekstraliga rider. If it's an honour to have him here then it says more about British speedway than anything else, he's about the same level as someone like Buczkowski was.
  11. Denise Coates from Bet365 paid herself a £260m bonus last year, if Oxford's owner is a richer bookie than that then can he go and buy a few stadiums!
  12. https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/19695338.speedway-rider-dan-bewley-ruled-belle-vue-planning-2022/ Probably this one. Obviously there's something quite glaring when you read it properly...
  13. Maybe you should let him know that and he can stop furiously backpedaling attempting to get a Championship place.
  14. Very true. Can't fault the top 5 but not much improvement. Let's see what the rest of the teams look like.
  15. They do a decent job of that themselves tbf
  16. Decent side if it comes together. Reserve strength and a good number one. Must be a good chance of NKI dropping to reserve at some point too.
  17. Steve Worrall, Flint, Harris. Complin and Pijper back?
  18. Do you think either Thompson twin found no benefit in riding with Doyle/Emil and against other world class riders? Maybe they'd improve anyway, but what's wrong with guaranteeing them a space? It should be a thing in both leagues.
  19. By creating a pathway for young riders at Championship clubs to ride against some of the best in the world, improving them and subsequently their scores at Championship level?
  20. I'm not entirely sure what point you're making - or disagreeing with, if you are. This is a British speedway problem to fix, yes, - not one I can see the current promoters fixing - and should have been fixed a long time ago. It's very well saying you build to the standard available but if that is juniors/novice riders then how will that help things? It probably does resolve the problem in fairness as there'll be a lot less clubs to worry about in a couple of seasons time.
  21. It is good, but what do we do in the meantime? Build teams filled with NDL riders? This problem should've been fixed years and years ago.
  22. I had this very thought last night when I read the news. It does make you wonder what path it might lead sport down if it comes to pass. I don't think anything will come of it, and it's probably a due process type thing, but it could make things very different in all sports. It's always seemed like when you pass the touchline to whatever field/track/court you're on then the 'normal' rules essentially disappear.
  23. Same as everyone else, 'I know something you don't know'. The amusing part is that those who are genuinely in the know don't post, or aren't afraid to be transparent.
