Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi Final
HenryW replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That little bit of instability from Cookie is part of what makes him great when he is racing for you....I loved it when he was a Monarch. Now he is a Tiger, I agree he should get a ban There is always something going on at Eastbourne and always has been....I still have memories of visits there in the 80s and 90s where we came away infuriated at how things had gone down, usually with Bob Dugard at the centre of events. It's nice to hear that Martin is keeping the family tradition alive! -
The problem is that if you were to put it at the best tracks just now, most of the series would be in Poland... By all accounts, Pardubice aren't interested in running a GP, and Pardubice really doesn't have the hotels to make a good weekend for travelling fans. They would be better served helping the Prague club improve their track to make it a good venue.

That was a fantastic Grand Prix. Some brilliant racing which, once again, proves that when given the right track, these boys can deliver some spectacular entertainment. It's still the best sport in the World when done right.

I'm now thinking "ArthurRudge" is actually Sam Ermolenko

Agreed. It's crying out for Havvy to be added to the studio

Attendance at the GP venue on a Friday used to be compulsory, but one of the major leagues at the time moaned about that and the FIM changed the rules...Times have changed and the league using a Friday night has changed, but we can still blame the BSPA for the silly situation we find ourselves in

Edinburgh v Scunthorpe 2/8/19 @7.30pm
HenryW replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
My best guess is that they are using an HTML5 geolocation service based on the text on the live stream page, which states the following: "You may buy access to the stream from any location however your internet browser will request your location before loading the stream player. If your location is unavailable, or your deny access to your location, you will not be able to view the stream." Those services are pretty accurate on many devices but not so much if you are using a device without wifi or gps capability, but I guess they are happy that's good enough. An example of the deficiency of this system is that when I am using my VDI at work in central Edinburgh, it would almost always show as being outside the 50 mile range due to the way we choose to route our network traffic. Normally our traffic exits from one of our datacentres in Southern England and IP geolocation is the only option available on that device...although, knowing my luck, if I was ever working a Friday night we'd be routing out our Edinburgh datacentre that day . -
I don't think I've heard this mentioned before. Who was the referee that day and why did he dislike Hans Nielsen?

You think??? Pretty sure Sam called him "Mikkel Jesper Jensen" or "Jesper Jensen" at least a few times. I seriously do not understand how Sam keeps getting hired for commentary. He can't pronounce most of the rider names and he offers very little in the way of genuine insight, he just rambles incoherently and makes up words as he goes... I'm pretty sure he dropped in "terrocious" tonight to describe a gate position. He seems like a nice bloke and has always been friendly when we've met, but as a colour commentator he is just awful. As much as Kelvin Tatum gets abuse, at least he seems to know the English language and gives some interesting and useful info from an ex rider's point of view... and I'm pretty sure there are many ex riders who could do the same, or at least better than Sam.

Viktor Kulakov really does seem to have stepped up a level this year. I have rated him for a good few years but thought that he'd made a terrible mistake last year when he took the Tarnow offer and sat on the bench as a number 8 for most of the year. I think he only got about 15 races all season for them, but maybe it really was for the best... He certainly looks impressive this season in the 1st Division. I'm not sure what his contract situation is in Tarnow, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few Ekstraliga teams keeping an eye on him for next year.

Sedg is 5.54, which does look fairly convenient for replacing Willie. If they could find someone in the 4.5 range to replace one of the reserves I think I'd prefer that... not that I have anything against them bringing Sedg back.
-
The current team is 37.49. So if they replaced Lawson they could get someone up to 5.56. If they dropped one of the reserves 4.51.

I think Gerd Riss was the first to use one in an Individual World Final. He definitely used one in Gothenburg in 1991. I can't remember one being used in a Final before that.

Peterborough v Belle Vue - Prem Mon 15th July
HenryW replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was it maybe Marcus Birkemose? I know he was planning to come over to the UK to try and get a few laps and maybe some contacts for the future. I have heard good things about his ability on a bike but don't think I've actually seen him race yet. -
world u21 team final Belle Vue 12th July
HenryW replied to davidba's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I've lost track of what the visa qualification criteria are. Is it still top 3 in a State title? If it is, he should be fine as he came 2nd behind Max Fricke in the South Australian Championship during the Winter. He's done a few meetings for the Leszno U21 team so far this year, so he's possibly based over there at the moment. -

Yeah. There's been a few close races and a controversial exclusion for Piotr Pawlicki.... the locals certainly didn't like the decision -
Poole v Kings Lynn. Prem. 4/7/19
HenryW replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It's still there as far as I can see. It wasn't uploaded to his feed, just his stories. If people really want to see it, I'll pop it onto a free video sharing site later on. Edit - I got interrupted while writing this reply and didn't notice the new messages. I see 89buttons has added some screen shots so probably not a need for the video now -
Not if it's going to show up inconclusive results for pain meds that aren't on the banned list and see a bunch of riders kicked out the meeting when they have done nothing wrong. I'm still a little confused about the events here, though. It suggested it was pain medication given to him almost a month ago. Was he still taking it recently? From info online (not guaranteed to be accurate) Codeine shouldn't normally show up in a test more than a few days after it was taken.

Prague GP, Saturday June 15th 2019

I don't think there was ever any question of there being any danger to others from what Dudek was caught taking. If I remember right, I think it was also generally accepted that he took it unknowingly as it was an unlisted ingredient in a training supplement that he used. As others have said, I don't recall Madsen ever having issues with drugs, just machinery.
