  1. I guess they will still have Eurosport coverage in other Countries, it's just the British Eurosport coverage that Phil was suggesting might be lost.
  2. Is Mark Lemon continuing as the Belle Vue and Australia team manager? If so, it's interesting that Belle Vue have signed mostly Brits...Maybe Mark and Alun should swap club roles
  3. Is Piotr Pawlicki not too old for the reserve berth now? I thought he already turned 21 this year.
  4. Yeah, but those lyrics were never included in the version used for the Aussie National Anthem. The second verse of the anthem is: Beneath our radiant Southern Cross We'll toil with hearts and hands To make this Commonwealth of ours Renowned of all the lands For those who've come across the seas We've boundless plains to share With courage let us all combine To Advance Australia Fair. In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.
  5. Now THAT would have me as a regular at Berwick
  6. Yep. That was very nice to see. The money is the key factor. With speedway at Armadale seeing its biggest crowd ever tonight I am sure the Edinburgh promotion will have been rubbing their hands with glee even before the result!
  7. Do you really not think that Sam has aspirations to make it into the series as a permanent rider?
  8. An interesting question and not one i could answer as I generally don't think about who was running the clubs when they were doing well. The promoters don't really get much of the glory, that is reserved for the riders.
  9. In case anyone doesn't realise, Czech TV are making their stream of this meeting available internationally. The big names have just joined the meeting as the quarter final groups get under way. http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/porady/10161678681-motocyklove-zavody/215471291272001-zlata-prilba-2015/
  10. Delayed coverage of the World U21s is starting now on CT Sport.
  11. Doesn't seem to have done much after that...must have decided that was his work done for the night
  12. Still time for PK to move himself into the top 8 this year and qualify ;-)
  13. Looks like Lindback has brought the same form he had when he was last in the GP series!
  14. I really hope Havvy has been informed of this. I want to hear what happens when he asks the referee to quote the rule number he is using next time a rider is pulled back for a jump start!
  15. I think that Tapes Up Productions did most of the FIM meetings last year. Not sure if they are still doing them this year.
  16. Not saying it isn't the case but does anyone actually have any lists of injuries over the years to prove that there are more injuries per meeting now?
  17. IMG do pay a decent sum for the rights to host the events they have. Not sure what the FIM do with the money. I think some of it goes to prize funds for the meetings but I don't think that would cover it all. I guess people are maybe just questioning whether it would help to make speedway clubs more a part of the community rather than expecting them to provide a social service.
  18. I could be wrong but it seems that the fences on the straights at most uk tracks are far superior to those in Poland. Here the fences are flexible and give a bit, even the ones that are wooden. Most of the ones I have seen in Poland are solid wood with solid steel supports behind them...maybe Poland needs to look at changing some of their fences to make things a little safer...
  19. http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/543484/anders-thomsen-mistrzem-bartosz-smektala-z-brazem-final-imej-relacja
  20. I'm looking forward to seeing what they deliver this time around, but not building up too high hopes....Their past efforts have been pretty poor when it came to the game play mechanics.
  21. It's maybe worth taking a few moments to consider the following lists...All riders who sadly lost their lives according to the speedway "in memoriam" website. 1960-62: Derek Maynard, Witold Swiatkowski, Libor Dusanek, Erich Stieglmeier, Anton Thurner, Leszek Zienkiewicz, Bronislaw Idzikowski, Jack Unstead, Stanislaw Domaniecki, Des Simon and Arne Wettergren 1963-65: Antonin Vilde, Peter Craven, Boris Zakharov, Josef Slunecko, Peter Stirling, Tadeusz Teodorowicz, Dave Wills, Jerzy Oles, Barry Hopkin and Ray Sharp. 1966-68: Ivor Hughes, Andrzej Walicki, Poul Wissing, Harry Denton, Lionel Levy, Tadeusz Tkaczyk, Lubos Tomicek and Ken Mapp 1969-71: Roger Browne, Bernt Norrby, Marian Rose, Trevor Hobbs, Jimmy Gavros, Genadi Vyunov, Benedykt Blaskiewicz, Gordon Guasco, Jerzy Bildziukiewicz, Des Noble, Les Fielding and Valeri Klementiev Speedway has always been an incredibly dangerous sport. In the last 3 years we have tragically lost Darrin Winkler, Lee Richardson, Matej Duh and Grzegorz Knapp. Still far too many young lives being cut short, but far fewer than in the 60s.
  22. As an Edinburgh fan who spent many years marvelling at lovely Les and his racing style, I'm not sure that he really belongs on a list like this. He raced in one World Final and whilst he came close to winning, it's not like he was someone that was expected to be a contender and he drifted from the top level fairly quickly. Of the original list a lot of them are before my time so I'm not overly qualified to decide their merit on the list. However, someone like Autrey seems like an odd inclusion. He raced in two World Finals and made the rostrum once. Is he really someone that people remember as a great contender that never made champion? I wonder what puts him above someone like Ryan Sullivan?
