  1. Last season I was so against all the tractor racing that went on at Derwent Park. It got ridiculous last season grading the track when it did not need it. My thoughts last season were get on with it and tell the certain riders to go and ride it instead of spending all that time grading and fans getting sick of every meeting dragging on and on. Workington used to have the slickest of run meetings I've ever been to but the last couple of years have changed to so much tractor grading than is required. Standing on that bend freezing watching tractors go round and round is sickening when at most times not needed. Last night was different the track was dangerous at times and needed graded and I have no problem with that at all. I just hope that when the track is sorted we get more racing than tractors this year. The rest of the night for me was fantastic very well promoted and a very different feel to the night than has been there for ages. Scott Nicholls a true pro and had time for everyone outside the pit gate. The girls singing very very good The racing was good considering the conditions Sweets for the kids The new race card brilliant We could do nothing about the cold but a great start by the new promotion Fireworks fantastic what a great display Hope everyone returns next week
  2. Tony Jackson the Workington team manager was asked this question as we have a similar problem with an original member 1-7 is not available. You are not allowed r/r for an official fixture if the rider not available has not ridden a fixture. R/R is being used this weekend and a guest as both teams have agreed to it and its not a official fixture. All you are allowed would be a national league rider.
  3. Very very good read I've just subscribed again five weeks ago and have to say its been worth every penny very good reading. And that's even before the season has got going well done
  4. I really don't think he was meaning any harm what so ever to any rider quite the opposite I would say. I read the same report off people that were at the practice and it was them who were quoted as saying there was problems with the track especially going into turn three. I hope Tully has a very fast recovery terrible injury to get especially in a practice. To suggest comets fans would cheer anyone getting injured is an insult and if I ever did hear any thing like that I would be saying something
  5. Pleased that Richard has got a Elite league place but very disappointed that its a Friday night track he has signed for. Just the fact that he will be doing all the traveling and riding the night before we race most weeks.
  6. Yep riders will still be credited exactly the same way for the score chart and for heat 15 they will just be no longer paid for bonus points by the promotors financially
  7. The rule book states bonus points are used and count for heat 15 no change there. It's the promoters who decided not to pay riders any longer for bonus points so its not a rule change but just a cost cutting exercise by the promotors
  8. 20012 Team Lawson Ingalls Bach Roynon Harrison Howarth Irving Could have won the league 2013 Team Lawson Arnio Bach Howarth Harrison Campton Morris Not a chance in the league What a poor team from what we had this year
  9. Very dissapointed don't get me wrong I'm very pleased that the comets are even racing next season but what an anti climax that was the last two riders Rusty spit your dumy out Harrison will not improve his average at his age been there and done it and that his average will not improve he will only sulk and effect the rest of the team as soon as something goes against him either the track or a rider As for Arnio well I thought that Tony Jackson was a better manager than that if he thinks he is a good rider after watching him ride last season for Workington he watched a different rider than me he is on the slide you could see the way he was riding no consistency at all. So from last season which was a team capable of winning the league we have replaced Kenny Ingals with Mason Campton and Adam Roynon with Tero Arnio we have gone backwards a long way from last season
  10. Why do people want a rider who walked away from a team doing really well last season and left us high and dry with no replacement oh sorry forgot we got Arnio who went on to actually drop his average !!!!!!!!! So people want us to sign both of them for the remaining two places wake up if they sign them two we are in for an average season next year.
  11. Arnio nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  12. I understand Lady S has said Moss Bay Metals are not taking over and she will know :-) I have to say when I read the story I truely thought this is fantastic news for Workington Comets and thats not just saying because anyone keeping it going would be welcome. I say it because I belive they Branney's/Roper's would be fantastic for the Comets. They love there speedway and are very very nice people who would run the club the way it should be. The deal would have to be right for any new owner to step in but I feel that Mr Denham will be asking far far to much money for a club on its knees. Come on Susan you know you wanna
  13. That's right far more GPs now and even more next year then add the world cup into it to and it's a big problem If the weather is poor people decide to just stay in and watch tv Even myself who I would say I'm a die hard fan there are times my head has been turned with reasons not to go to Derwent Park maybe poor match maybe weather maybe the presentation there are things that at times make me think I can not be bothered. I'm lucky that I work and can afford to attended every week but feel for people that can not afford to go that actually want to but simply can not afford it. Presentation I like Micheal Max but the rest is crap music same stuff every week sound you can hardly hear it at times then we have them bloody tractors out time and time again
  14. Good idea for the Speedway supporters to get together but at 10:00am most people are at work. Hope u get a good turn out I'll be there as usual on Saturday. Keith's latest statement is alot better than the one he came out with yesterday. It was a case of I'm off and I'm taking my ball with me yesterday. At least today he explains what he thinks the problems are. It's true rain offs riders getting injured all add up to people turning away come on its on record as our worst summer in over 100 years can not remember one Saturday night this year that I've watched speedway in a t shirt. It's also true people just can not afford speedway every week I think it's time we went like football/rugby and have home meetings every fortnight it works in Sweeden maybe even same race nights if it were possible. Saturday race night to is a problem because of other things to do mainly for speedway fans the Grand Prix every two weeks that's got to affect attendances especially with the weather. We can not blame the racing as the riders have given us some great meetings this season.
  15. Why did Workington promotion have a parade ???? The meeting could have been done and dusted if they had started on time at 7:00
  16. The meeting last night was never going to start never mind finish What a joke getting people's money like that are they really that desperate ? One hour to go until it would have been tapes up and there is hardly a cloud in the sky I know it's hard predicting the weather but considering the fixtures we need to fit in thought they would have took a little gamble for tonight
  17. I understand all what you have said there Liz I think people think because they just read meeting off due to waterlogged track they think well they nearly rode on it last night and if it had stopped raining at half seven last night they would definitely have rode on it. It stopped raining in Workington last night and we have had no more rain since so the track should be ok. Like you said the meeting has not been called off for a waterlogged track but because the forcast is bad for later on. If the forcast is wrong which it has been alot lately the promotion will be gutted as the fans are but the risk is to much. But you can not call a meeting off due to a weather forcast so they have had to quote track waterlogged even though we know that right now the track is fine :-)
  18. A rider who I really like and he flys around Derwent park is Chris Kerr what is he doing now ?
  19. I knew something was wrong on Saturday night Rusty went to get changed after heat 13 after having words in the pits first. Not been in the same form as last year but will be hard to replace
  20. who were the team line ups for this meeting when poor Lee crashed can not find out who was riding RIP LEE
  21. I hate slick tracks. I still can not belive that the gp promoters do not tell Ole that they don't want any more slick tracks. Yes the riders love them as its so much safer but they need to sell there product and slick tracks equals one thing procesional racing. Scott is just not good enough and neither is Harris its time somone else got a shot at it. Years and years of watching Nichols bottle it.
  22. At Workington they informed the fans in the programe that they were not getting any GP tickets.
