Federation of Incontinent Marshals. We'e affiliated to them via the Stealthy Composed Bureaucrats. (How much longer is lockdown?)
-
I remember him and his team well, the Chilton Foliat Improbables, dominated the Southern area League, errrr, once. They had great kiosks right by the toilet block/hamburger bar.
-
Didn't he used to run the FIM?

Will British Speedway Survive ?
RobMcCaffery replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
And not turn up next time. -
As long as they sell choc-ices they'll be my saviour. I think we have opened a door into zen speedway. "Is this the speedway track" "If you want it to be".
-
The kiosks are wherever you want them to be.

Poole Pirates 2021
RobMcCaffery replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Would YOU buy a used speedway from Ford? ;-) -
Whenever I hear Ford speak I have this terrible urge to check my valuables, then my fingers....
-
Is there still a track at Peterborough? ;-) I am only aware of six Premiership tracks these days...
-
Probably some time in October.......
-
You think you've got problems. I've just had someone trying to sell me a speedway season ticket ;-)
-
Pêcheur ?

Gossip is cheap but informed interviews and opinion from experienced journalists are priceless. Someone I knew at the BBC said "We may not broadcast the news first, but we get it right". Thanks to all at Pinegen. Keep up the fight.

There are definite Royal Mail problems. I had a non-speedway monthly arrive nearly a week late.

Speedway books and magazine
RobMcCaffery replied to Tosh1218's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Delayed until the season actually starts. -
A recurring direct debit helps to keep absent-minded subscribers in check ;-) I've noticed many magazines outside the sport encouraging this.
-
Yes we are lucky to have Pinegen and Retro - people who love the sport. The main thing with digitising magazines, apart from the initial capital cost is the labour to have the magazine physically scanned. I have a friend who is archiving photo collections and it's arduous and a full-time job for him. I understand that being based in NZ digital is ideal. The only consolation is that matters have never been better for getting publications from around the world. I suspect that survival is the key matter for both publishers right now but it would be interesting to hear from Philip and Tony what the prospects might be in calmer times. I'd certainly appreciate digital versions of Retro's work, and especially more e-books.
-
The Exact Editions digital subscription includes back issues dating back to 2013. Agree over Retro Speedway. I'm sure if it was practical Tony would have taken it up though. He has started putting some of his books on online download as e-editions however.
-
Many thanks Philip. I found one major selling point in favour of the digital subscription was access to all back numbers since late 2013, 341 issues in total. Very useful for checking out the articles I've missed over the years, or parts of series like the D2 Riders Championship where I'd missed the odd part. For some this could be a very strong reason for subscribing, especially in restricted times. Hope you all pull through it.

Which gives you the greater return Philip, print or digital? I see both are only 1p different in price so I want to use the one that benefits you most.

Will the premiership start on time?
RobMcCaffery replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ridiculous. It might be but who the hell can be certain as this stage ffs! It's not big or clever. Just wait and see!. Yes, it's an opinion. So's this. -
SPEEDWAY AND MASS GATHERINGS
RobMcCaffery replied to SPD444's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
No, that's just a claim made (too often) by a sensationalist journalist. . A bit of responsibility wouldn't go amiss. What I see is a crass competition to see who can spread the most depression and panic by only seeing the extremes. What's the point in depressing people? Just watch and wait. Freedom of speech does usually come with a duty to show some responsibility in how that freedom is used. As one wartime leader who's image is on the front page of a tabloid rag today once wrote, "Freedom is liberty, not licence" - i.e. you have freedom but not total freedom to talk irresponsibly. But that was a time of genuine crisis when potential deaths in the millions, not thousands were anticipated and people faced it without behaving like idiots. Times change. -
Having had to cope with the 'death before death' of both parents I doubt many would realise, tragically.

Peterborough Speedway Disabled Parking 2020
RobMcCaffery replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Depressing reading that they could not even see the sense in dealing with one rogue BB user rather than placing a ban on all. There is such a thing as the Disability Discrimination Act which is far more effective than petitions. Taking what passes for logic in this situation the abuser was presumably also a speedway supporter. On that basis why not simply ban all supporters? Yes, it's ludicrous, as is banning all BB users through the actions of one incredibly easily-traceable offender. Yet again speedway takes the easy and thoughtless way out. "Ban them all". I'm glad they are doing so well that they can do without BB holders' custom. Certainly if I ever hear again of the track complaining abut low crowds there will be no sympathy from me. Blue Badges aren't handed out to annoy dimwitted car park attendants or confuse idiotic speedway promoters. They are issued to help the disabled, in ALL forms, cope with life and to make their lives a little more tolerable. Clearly such ideals are too complex for Peterborough Speedway to understand. The badge isn't there to give me an advantage over others. It's there to help me. It's more than a little depressing that a track where I once was able to commentate for video and TV won't even let me use my blue badge to park. I have no problem in paying my way. Just having a slightly shorter walk when every step is agony might be nice. I'll take you back to another incident at another track. Me "How do you define disabled wen giving concessions?" "Do you use a wheelchair" "not yet" "Well you ain't disabled" Welcome to the 19th century..............
