  1. That's what it says on here https://britishspeedway.co.uk/
  2. Not forgetting Pedersen who got paid 39 in 3 play-off fixtures riding at 6.
  3. It's like all of those sort of awards. They are usually well deserved and correct initially, and probably for a little while afterwards, but the longer it goes on the talent pool often diminishes somewhat and the bar is lowered. Ostrich is worthy of some sort of recognition but is he up there with our former club & world stars? Nowhere near. Probably it's the tag that's wrong and should be renamed around club service in some way?
  4. The one change that they couldn't afford was losing the ringer at reserve and that's what happened. Didn't the whole team end up down there at some point last season? That's some luxury. That tells you much about where most are now in their career whilst now also being a year older and having to improve their performance against better quality riders as you highlight. That improvement isn't going to happen to riders on the wrong side of the hill. Loyalty is admirable but it was fairly obvious that that would come at a cost in 2022.
  5. Just paying a rare visit so must have missed that last time if it was there? What's irrelevant? You're a bit of a clown and it's a funny suggestion that gets funnier each time that you say it. Thanks for relieving my boredom though
  6. Probably because age often brings more bad meetings and excuses than riders of that quality ever had in their younger years. In their prime they usually only had bad races and rode through the pain barrier as the adrenalin of being at the top of their game dulled any pain. Riders at the top of their game are super human. It's only at the end of their career when they are not winning for fun and it all can be a bit of a struggle that they suddenly become just plain and simple human.
  7. Sorry to hear about your wife. I know that things have been tough for a while now. On the subject of a BB, if you can evidence those conditions and negotiate the online application (perhaps Citizens Advice could help) then you can apply for your own BB because the qualifying criteria was extended recently to include hidden disabilities for those people who fall outside of automatic badge qualification.
  8. "For gods sake" - you said it Rodders. So you hand over what you know and say do you want a pound for parking. It really is that easy and uninteresting. That's me done, c u elsewhere
  9. Assume that it was all passed to the Ben Fund because I'm sure that you recall that Horton brought in the charge to cover the club's contribution.
  10. Is there any reason why it shouldn't have been the usual £1? Probably why nobody replied. Wouldn't have been high on the To Do list.
  11. So wasn't it an additional quid for parking last year? I haven't been for 2 years but they had been taking an additional quid for several years at that point.
  12. We have a thriving, or at least we are told as such, supporters club and network so I'd have thought that falls within their remit in the short term at least. They are as independent as much as any club associated group can be. A splinter group, along the lines that you mention, might develop if more pressure is needed. The main thing for this year IMO would be to always ask where Peterborough Speedway fits within any forthcoming development plans and make sure that question doesn't go away. Bottom line is that we're pretty well stuffed, it's just the timeline that I'm still not clear of.
  13. True it's not unexpected. That story was already run in the ET and it's them chancing their arm again (with the detail as they'd already said "A planning application will be submitted in the Spring 2022" ) on a plan, already previously rejected, outside of the agreed local plan. The ET story said the submitted additional plan would again be rejected, although push it enough and they might get some sort of compromise I guess? Policy LP36: East of England Showground said (not sure if the Draft Peterborough Local Plan of June 17 was agreed and/or modified on 24 July 2019) "The loss of any existing leisure and sports facilities will not be supported unless replacement facilities are provided in accordance with policy LP30", although that's very much open to interpretation and negotiation as it's worded.
  14. That's fair enough. Enjoy 2022. What happens will happen so worrying about it isn't going to change anything.
  15. That's virtually what the local plan says though and that being stuck to has little to do with the developers from what I can see. It's for PCC to enforce what they've agreed and not buckle. LP30 is a bit vague though really so that would be a concern
  16. It will be in time but not even Flappy is that keen so 2022 will do for the time being.
  17. 650 homes have already been written in to Policy LP36: East of England Showground so Panthers at their current location where technically no more when that was agreed. The latest article is just the developers wanting more houses etc although it's already been tried and dismissed was the point the councillor was making. The real issues for Peterborough Speedway are: "The loss of any existing leisure and sports facilities will not be supported unless replacement facilities are provided in accordance with policy LP30" which says: Existing Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Community Facilities The loss, via redevelopment, of an existing culture, leisure, tourism or community facility will only be permitted if it is demonstrated that: (and this is the bit where PCC & local councillor support will be crucial) k. The facility is demonstrably no longer fit for purpose and the site is not viable to be redeveloped for a new community facility; or l. The service provided by the facility is met by alternative provision that exists within reasonable proximity: what is deemed as reasonable proximity will depend on the nature of the facility and its associated catchment area; or m. The proposal includes the provision of a new facility of a similar nature and of a similar or greater size in a suitable on or off-site location. Timescale & actual work being the other issue: “We are hoping that development work will get under way in during 2023/2024.” As the club says in the ET today, it's business as usual for 2022, negotiations are and will be ongoing, we all know about timescales as well. Yes they may stick to it but these things can drag on and on.
  18. Swindon is a special kind of cock up and it was pretty clear where that would end up. We've had 20 years of this and the council and it's officials have generally been supportive over the years and we're still here. Yes it's getting tricky now but I think I’d rather have the support of a councillor who has consistently backed the club and lives less than 400 metres from the fourth bend, rather than not. As Ged Rathbone proved, who can you trust?
  19. 20 years and ongoing but getting nearer to the end game. Nothing new in the story. There's a bit of sabre rattling before: " chief executive of AEPG, said it was hoped to submit two outline planning applications, plus a masterplan for the site, to Peterborough City Council in the spring. It's quite comical that in September they said that their masterplan would be in line with the PCC local plan then they come out with this guff that will be rejected as it was when the last cowboys tried it on. With the main impact still coming: “We are hoping that development work will get under way in during 2023/2024.” although there can still be many hurdles to cross.
  20. I don't think that summing up of their success is an opinion. It's a fact very unlikely to be replicated.
  21. They will abandon anything that doesn't work irrespective of whatever apparent long term plan they come up with or publish.
  22. Have you been in a cave for the last decade? They can and they do.
  23. Was very much a 1992 copy: Jason Crump comes in on a 2 and finishes the season on an 8.4 just below the Panthers legend that is Mick Poole. When such events happen then you're laughing, as were Panthers 2021.
  24. People fell in love with a team that was winning both home and away on a regular basis. I'm not sure that social media would save the day without that vital ingredient.
