Urgent Postponement Stoke V Buxton 13/04/14
Jayne replied to Swift Saint's topic in National League Speedway
Not that I'm an expert but I was at the stock car meeting last week and thought the track held up pretty well. I know a lot of work went on last week prior to the stock car meeting to get things right so fingers crossed the problems are sorted. -

Unless the rules have been changed and no one has bothered to tell us Lee Dicken cannot be declared in the same team as Steve Jones as only one rider over 30 is permitted. -

Buxton have never been in the PL -
As far as I am aware (not bring able to speak this week) Jack intends to continue with his role at Buxton. As for team members, work is still ongoing and when there is something to report we will do. Our first official match is not until 29th April so no need to panic just yet.
-
So who would you suggest they had instead?

Whilst all income from spectators helps pay the bills and is very welcome,Buxton survived in the third tier of speedway without Dudley for many years so please don't credit yourself with our survival as it is insulting. Buxton speedway survives by working within its means and with a lot of hard work from a small number of volunteers and sponsors.

Fatlad - it was Matt himself who said to Richard Moss that he didn't know if he was riding NL when asked if he would be returning to Buxton. Fatlad - it was Matt himself who said to Richard Moss that he didn't know if he was riding NL when asked if he would be returning to Buxton.

So what do you suggest as a solution?

No one begrudges anyone for wanting to better themselves and move on in life but a bit of honesty goes a long way.
-
Pity that no club PL or NL had the courtesy to contact Buxton first or that the rider concerned could tell us the truth as recently as last week.
-
When Brundle rode the rule of continuing in the nl was not in place so totally different circumstances.
-
Unfortunately we don't have a big budget like other clubs so don't attract the riders the same. It gets harder every year and with less riders about this year due to the el draft then it's even worse. If Matt has gone to Dudley that's news to us as last we heard he was thinking of giving NL a miss.

The league operated with five teams in its earlier days (can't remember the year)meeting twice home and away plus the KOC, not ideal but we survived. The league has been in existence in one form or another for 20 years now and must be doing something right as all the riders in last years World Team Cup squad had ridden in it at some time or another. The league doesn't always get the support it deserves but with the EL proposals this year it is more important than ever that the league not only survives but flourishes. It is a worry though, as it is every year, as to where the extra riders will come from and which teams will continue.

10th December
-
Under the current rules it would be but who knows what will happen in 2014? A lot of riders from this years NL will be inelligible to double up so things may change. I guess a lot will depend on how the league is made up which we wont know until at least the middle of December if not later.

There has indeed and although the fund raising will need to continue, we are on course for purchasing an air fence. Many of the manufacturers are offering payment plans and it is likely that we will use this alongside the existing fund to pay for it. Although we still need to raise some more cash to pay the instalments so will be looking at further fund raising next year.

Even though averages weren't published/used for team building he will still have one. Although they can't double up/down unless the ruling is changed as a rider must be under 25.
-
Cannot see any way that Mills and Schramm have 6 and 7 point averages respectively. The current rules state that if a rider has a PL CMA and a NL (CL) CMA then the highest of the two shall be used. Not sure what their averages were when they last rode in the third division but would be very surprised if they were that low.
-
No way Mills will be a 5pt NL rider if he wants to double up/down then he would have to use his old NL/CL average. Althugh unless the current rules change he would be ineligble to double up as he is over 25.
-
No it isnt. The limit is still 4.00 unless you are not in a PL 1-7 at the start of the season but are in a NL 1-7. You can then join a PL team without jeopardising your NL team spot providing your average is under 5, hence why Charles can double up at the end of the season.

Dean is quite correct the end of season awards night is on Saturday 16th November at the Winking Man on the A53 between Buxton and Leek. Tickets are available from the speedway office at £10 per person to include buffet and disco. All riders are invited and most are expected to be in attendance.

Buxton V Iow Followed By Buxton V Stoke Sunday 8th Sept
Jayne replied to Jayne's topic in National League Speedway
Big day for the Hitmen today if they are to qualify for the play offs. Sun is out at the moment so lets hope the weather stays on our side. -
Tomorrow's meetings against the Isle of Wight and Stoke are must win matches for the Hitmen if they want to make the playoffs. The Hitmen need to take all 6 points that are on offer to take the fourth spot. Isle of Wight are also looking to clinch that top four spot and need a point from the first meeting to make it and ruin Buxton's hopes. One thing is certain and that there should be plenty of action over the 30 heats. Admission prices have been set at £15 for Adults, £13 concessions and Children remain at usual price of £3.50.
