  1. Haha I'm a fan but that'd be a bit too keen!
  2. Watching him struggle up the steps into the bar at Monmore Green last Monday he was certainly sore!
  3. Choices are tomorrow night I think on BT Sport. Think Pete Adams would fancy keeping it tight at BV & hitting the Aces hard early at Monmore.
  4. Poole Pirates "the people's team"??? SS is certainly creative.. ☺️
  5. I think Wolves/Aces is a 50/50 shout. It should have been last year in the final but BV had a nightmare at Monmore, Cook apart. Gave us too much to do at home despite a great fight, Lindgren was brilliant on the night in Manchester & saw you home. I'd want 10 point lead to take to Monmore, anything less & it's advantage Wolverhampton. The Wolves track fazes some teams, it doesn't BV, some great racing in store.
  6. Agree Beowulf, Newman was terrific last year, beat Woffy I think. Ellis was good too, has really kicked on this year. Pirates fans must be envious. Maybe I'm biased, but I'm lucky to watch Bewley in Colts & Aces colours every week. Know he has struggled on the international stage this year, but he is a very special talent. I wouldn't swap him for anyone, he'll star in the playoffs if fit.
  7. Really concerning, Dan is dynamite round the NSS, not to mention really good round Wolves, where we are likely to be in a couple of weeks. I like & respect Kyle Newman, talented rider, but Bewley is irreplaceable, end of.
  8. Watched Richie Worrall at Sheffield for Glasgow earlier in the year, at the British Final, for Poole at BV & guesting for us against KL tonight. Problems seem mechanical to me, doesn't seem quick at all. Only one race tonight with his brother when out in the deep dirt in the outside he looked remotely at ease. Hope he finds his best form soon.
  9. Saw Charles Wright do the same round our place recently ER, definitely one to watch into 2018, hope he progresses further. So playoffs time, clean slate. Wondered if Robins would choose BV, no chance now imo. Pirates home & away ticks too many boxes, not to mention very winnable. Leaves Wolves & BV to slug out the other semi final - assuming Fricke & Bewley fully fit, that's a 50/50 tie, both sides go well at each others tracks. Credit to Somerset & Rye for pushing so hard in debut season in top flight. Some great playoff speedway in store, may the best team win..
  10. Having watched Joe Lawlor a few times at Belle Vue last season, I enjoyed seeing how has progressed last night. Always showed ability, but has really improved, looked much smoother & showed good pace, especially when flying past Jack Smith down the back straight! Enjoyed the battles between Connor Coles & Jon Armstrong. Glad Whitmore & the member of track staff were both OK after young Lewis crashed onto the infield.
  11. That was one hard whack to the head. Hopefully Brzozowski is just dazed. Woffinden certainly looking sharp tonight!
  12. In no particular order - David Bellego, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn, Zach Wajtknecht, Dan Bewley, Bradley Wilson-Dean.
  13. Looking back on last night, it was a massive reminder, if one was needed, just how important Fricke & Bewley are to this Aces team, particularly at home. Fricke can beat the world's best there, as he did when beating the (at the time) almost untouchable Doyle this time last year and he thrives at the NSS. Just 6 points I think from RR for him last night. As for Bewley, it's a huge compliment to a kid in just his second year of racing, how good he is & how much he was missed, badly - despite the 100% efforts of Aarnio last night. It's far from all doom and gloom though. With a full 1-7, we have a side who enjoy racing at Monmore & at Blunsdon, as well as going close at Rye twice. I hope last night's result encourages a few people to write us off come playoff time, that'll suit me just fine. Quick comment on Cookie, not his best night, but the last two years he's come to the party come playoff time & lead his team, expect him to do so again. One thing is for sure, playoff speedway under the lights in front of a packed NSS we are in for some fantastic racing. If you love good speedway then get yourselves down there, you won't be disappointed - win or lose I can't wait!!
  14. Congratulations to Leicester on their win tonight, thoroughly deserved. No excuses, better team won.
  15. Really feel for Kings Lynn fans tonight, another terrible evening. Respect to Josh Auty, just the 11 rides so far & according to updates still giving it everything in an utterly hopeless cause, fair play.
  16. Lemo not rated by one or two on this thread. Just my opinion, he has been central in changing the mentality of my club's team & fans, who had become used to failure. He's been a driving force in turning them into a force to be respected &, at full strength, feared. Hopefully the Aces back my point up on track Monday morning & pick up full points. On to 2018,think Poole have the basis of an outstanding side next year. I like Woryna, saw him perform well last year at Cov & at our place. Really seems to have kicked on too this year. With B Kurtz, potentially both Holder brothers & Shanes there is much to be positive about. Seems to be too much hysteria on Poole threads after one iffy season. Try waiting 24 years for a league title, & enduring numerous wooden spoons along the way. Perspective needed, Pirates will be back...
  17. A couple of youngsters I've seen for the first time & been impressed with at Belle Vue this year watching Colts matches are Anders Rowe & Henry Atkins. Both have a good style & at decent pace too, at a track pretty different to most they'll have faced to date. In recent years there seems to be a glass ceiling most young GB riders hit that stunts their progress. Long list. Have an optimistic theory, might be wrong, that when one lad breaks through it then others will follow. As an Ace I hope it's Dan Bewley, but imo with the quantity of young talent coming through it's only a matter of time. I hope so anyway!
  18. Excellent signing, watching him at Belle Vue he was impressive. Be great for Fen Tigers fans to enjoy watching both Kemp & Jenkins develop as the 2018 season unfolds, look forward to seeing them in action against the Colts next season.
  19. Tough conditions at the NSS for a third time running, big respect to the lads from both teams for battling on & putting on a show. Wright was really good, Heeps came good in the second half & Grajczonek was always a threat. Cook looks back to his quick & aggressive best, well backed by Steve Worrall. Good to see Tungate back, despite being plagued by bike trouble. Three valuable points nearer the playoffs, fingers crossed for some positive news soon on Max Fricke.
  20. Fair enough appreciate the explanation. On a wider note, the Leicester track has had plenty of clog - been down to Beaumont Park for both Aces matches, June's was OK, last night was pretty decent imo. Will be back in 2018 for sure.
  21. Great to see young Bickley did a good job for the Brummies, getting better match by match. No "Billy Bigtime" about him, wants to listen & wants to learn. A GB kid going places.
  22. Was down there last night, was amazed SGB chose that race to put out. Heat 15 was miles better, not to mention Bewley's two magic passes in heats 12 & 14. Especially the race where Dan built his speed up in the dirt over 2 laps, before roaring down the home straight into turn 1 under a shell-shocked Lasse Bjerre!
  23. Would agree with your match summary Charlieboy. I was really disappointed with the Riss brothers, particularly Erik as I was impressed by him at Leicester last night against my mob. Know Mark has been out injured a while so he could be excused a bit I guess. Thought Ricky Wells battled hard & I enjoyed watching Josh Pickering for the first time. Gutsy, good style too, 10/10 for effort today. Clegg & Davey offered little, combined with no Masters was gonna be v tough. Heat 13 was a cracking race, Grajczonek is reaching Stead levels round Owlerton, so smooth whilst flat out, brilliant to watch. There was a moment mid meeting on the 3rd/4th bend where one of the Riss lads seemed to clip the air fence, the whole crowd gasped, expecting a nasty crash, still not sure how he stayed on board, pleased he did!
  24. If the rain doesn't intervene should be a really good match this. Expect Carr & JPB to go well, Bacon scored good points here last season & Hampshire really impressed me too (with KL Young Stars i think).I'm going for a 50-40 Colts win.
