  1. That last heat kinda summed up the Gdansk track for me. Saifutdinov seemed to be carrying tons more speed than Zengota yet seemingly no way past. Really frustrating viewing!
  2. Of all the tracks in all of Poland... whether watching on TV or in the stadium it's the same disappointing experience - utter pants! It's not like there's nowhere better R&R is it - might give this one a miss! 🙁
  3. You're right there are, though certainly not any of your 1-7 tonight, all got stuck in. As Phil has touched on, both sides weren't just trying to survive 4 laps, they were racing full tilt throwing the bikes into what in the last 3 or 4 races was wet slop. Was spectacular to watch, as Steve Worrall summed up at press conference tonight was a compliment to the track size & shape - he went as far as to say he enjoyed it. Jonasson was quite complimentary when interviewed too. Whatever those lads were paid tonight, they deserve every penny, brilliant stuff! Edit: Completely agree Halifax Tiger about Cookie, decent score tonight but as someone watching him regular like you do, it's clear he's miles off his best. Whether issues are mechanical or otherwise, just hope he finds the real form again. Usually comes alive towards end of season - same again please!
  4. Just back from Belle Vue, massive respect to all 13 riders for putting on a show in really difficult conditions. Even more so after the last downpour which made the final 4 heats incredibly tough - visibility must have been next to nil! Congrats to the Aces on the win, but Kings Lynn fans should be proud of their team tonight, bags of guts & effort, thought they were terrific.
  5. Thanks R&R, let's hope from an Aces angle he has a going night tonight! With Smithy only likely to contribute a couple of points, an iffy night from Heeps would put big pressure on Bewley to contribute double figures - a big ask at this stage of his development. Throw in the possibility of a wet track, could be a potential banana skin this one for us - happy to be proved wrong though!
  6. Cam Heeps guests for Tungate, not seen a great deal of him racing. Know Jake Allen was originally booked to guest before his injury & looked good in Rebels win at BV, is Heeps a decent choice?
  7. Is that all?? Seeing Daria hosting & Joanna doing the interviews on this one I couldn't help thinking of our old friend on this section Alan. Loved his Polish speedway & the fairer form too - he would have certainly approved. Sadly passed but certainly not forgotten.
  8. Cracking heat 1 battle between J Holder & Madsen, good to see Przedpelski back so soon after that dreadful crash at Leicester. Rune Holta coming from miles back to pass C Holder, vintage ride from him. Good action, the reserve Polis looks lively, could be close this one.
  9. Just returned from a really enjoyable round of the British Youth Championship at Belle Vue. 40+ races run at a cracking pace with some great action, huge well done to all involved. My favourite class was the 250's. The battling Thompson brothers were excellent, Ablitt was very tidy too but Leon Flint was that bit better than his peers. Brilliant racing style, lovely to watch, wouldn't mind seeing him at no.7 for the Colts in a year or 2's time - don't worry Berwick fans we'd look after him til he's old enough to race for you! I expected Bickley to coast the 500's, but Gilkes & Kemp were really good & provided yet another reminder of the young talent bubbling under the surface of British speedway. Poland we're not, but I left the stadium far more encouraged about the future than I did when I arrived. P.S. How spectacular were those sidecar demo races?! That National Final at BV on Oct 14th should be some night!
  10. Bewley rode well for BV when we were down there earlier this season, probably hadn't previously raced there much if at all. Has clearly improved too since then. He'll give it 100% for the Stars for sure. He'll also appreciate the extra laps there ready for the Aces next trip there on Aug 19 & for his assault on the NLRC Leicester are staging.
  11. Hope you are right about the Wroclaw track producing better racing soon - especially as I've booked a weekend in Wroclaw taking a punt on them making the Polish Playoff Final & hosting the 2nd leg, which I think is due for Sun 24th September. Booked this mindful that Leszno are in the shake up for the Playoffs too & is an easy commute from Wroclaw. Other than rainoffs, have I got the playoffs schedule right R&R?
  12. SF saying Max Fricke has gone to hospital, eek! Fingers well & truly crossed for him, hope he's ok.
  13. Brilliant heat 8 battle between Bjarne & Emil, high class racing this!! Watched Tungate last night & he was mighty fast there too. Big score in Poland too on Sunday, Rohan certainly has found good form!
  14. Cracking race between Pedersen & Iversen in heat 6, excellent stuff. Heat 7 with Pepe, Milik & Kildemand none too shabby either. Really like the Kumla track, serves up good racing more often than not.
  15. Have to agree. He's on the pace, think the top league is a year too early for him but we'll stick by him & he'll kick on next year. What makes it extra tough for him imo is being similar age to Bewley & probably getting frustrated he's not progressing at the same rate. Jack will forge a decent career, the kid has talent. I suggest his dad will be urging him to be patient, not a trait most teenagers have.
  16. Really fair & accurate review HT. Heat 14 was a brilliant race, didn't think Kennett rode a bad race either,Tungate & Bewley just weren't gonna be denied. Plenty of other great action. Thought Jack Smith scored the hardest earned zero of the season in heat 4 when Lahti pipped him on the line. Loved heat 1 too, Bewley rode a stormer to pass Andersen, only for Andersen to re-pass him with a hard but fair move. Was one of those 'master & pupil' moments for me. Dan will have learnt plenty from that.
  17. It's not. Shame really, as our clashes with the Pirates have served up some cracking racing. Decent weather forecast so we should be on. See Holder's had a good day at Leszno, if he brings that form to Manchester it could be close. Know Poole have had a turbulent spell, experience tells me never write Poole off.
  18. Share your enjoyment Paulco watching the lads develop, me through their exploits with the Aces and the Colts. Wouldn't have any problem with Dan & Jack having another season with Glasgow. Would allow Jack to develop into a decent second string & Dan into a 3rd heat leader slot. I've always tried to avoid getting carried away about young riders & what they may or may not do. Finding that tough though with Bewley. The intelligent lines he chooses & the speed he generates, he is a very special talent. When he perfects his gating, speedway world better watch out!
  19. Can only echo the sentiment of previous posts regarding heats 13 & 15,brilliant racing from Dan Bewley & Danny Ayres. To quote Kelv it was definitely speedway "out of the top drawer", well done lads! Surely one of those races should turn up on the speedway GB website. Both heats were a credit to the NL.
  20. No excuses, Swindon were terrific from top to bottom tonight. Great set ups, sharp gating, rode intelligent lines, deserved win. I'd never seen BWD race before, one way to leave a lasting impression! From a GB point of view, Ellis looked a different rider from the rider pootling round at the back for the Pirates here last year. Not too many calling for him to be dropped now (unlike 3 months ago). On that form, see you's again in September.....
  21. Blimey Kent have had terrible luck with injury this season. I enjoy watching Nathan Stoneman, hope he makes a speedy recovery & is back racing soon.
  22. Supportive tweet to Worrall from Woffinden. Clear Tai was watching, if it benefits Stevie going forward in some way then it benefits his clubs & ultimately his country. For the record I'm no Woffinden apologist. Been put off by his seemingly arrogant attitude over last couple of years. On the other side can see merits in his frustration at the BSPA too. Let's not burn the bridge to him, love him or not, what he does works.
  23. Rare I agree with you SS, I do on this. GB seemed to have no idea how to get the power down to the granite dust surface. Zero drive. We all know someone who does, don't we? Time for Tai & all relevant parties re GB speedway to get round a table & sort their differences out. Not only for the current GB team, but to assist the development of the likes of Wajknecht, Bewley, Perks et al coming through on to the international scene.
  24. POL: Pawlicki & Zmarzlik SWE: Lindgren & Lindback GB: Cook & Lambert RUS: Saifutdinov & Kudriashov
