Hi Darrell Branford from adelaide here, how is the junior scene looking over west this year.What are the numbers like at the moment, we are dwindling away fast over here.Do you have any pics of the new set up over there. Regards Darrell

As you most would be aware, here in australia we run a succesfull 125 junior sidewinders program.Most if not all of the current crop of riders have come through this system.Luckily we run on purpose built tracks, because as was put forward to run on full size tracks would be a waste of time.The worrying thing for us is in adelaide is that the numbers are dropping, and as far as senior racing goes no body else is coming into the sport. Yes i remember the incident at long eaton, i Darrell Branford ended up going underneath the boards and ending up on the other side of the fence.To the amazement of everyone including myself i was excluded.Still he proved to be a good rider over a lot of years and probably had what i lacked, a win at all costs attitude. Is this the junior track?, or is there more than one track.Talking to Johnno in mildura he said the track looked good. Well done to see a new track opening up, seems to be more closing shop for bikes than opening at the moment.Back in my racing days in adelaide(late 80s) we had North arm fri night, murray bridge, whyalla , or renmark, sat nights and if you were still keen Mildura sun night.

Yes and a good meeting it was too.Sorry to miss Chris Holder, but still some great young talent on show.Woody gated best in the final and left the others chasing.Nasty crash in the sidecar final, hope the guys were ok.

Sorry to say unless the problems are sorted out quickly with the juniors in adelaide, you will find that you wont have any up and coming riders in south aus.If you look at the riders at present nearly all of them came through the juniors.In the 80s you would get motocross riders and people off the street which doesnt seem to happen anymore.
