Aussie Championship Qualifier, Gillman
chopper replied to ficklefan's topic in International World of Speedway
Yes Robert had a night to forget a tape exclusion and a first bend fall dashing his hopes. Some great racing with Kossa Smith good to watch and also Mark Jones one of my favorites with there all out style. plus all the qualifiers .The two sixteen year olds Sedgman and Davey were certainly not out of there depth in this field and look to have bright futures. The aussie title night has a lot to live up to. Sissis Wins South Oz U-16 Title
chopper replied to pandjmackay's topic in International World of Speedway
Yes it certainly was a very exciting meeting, well done to young Authur and the other riders for making it a great night. On a sad note Mark Mitchell had his trailer stolen from his house with his speedway sidecar and all his gear inside on friday, so please keep an eye out for it and his Bills Bits and Bikes trailer.Mark is a keen rider and supporter of speedway and donated a helmet to raffle and gloves for all the place getters at the junior titles and doesnt deserve this kick up the behind. Darrrell -
How are the junior solo numbers this year i see you didnt mention them . Regards Darrell
-
Sounds like you need to set up a similar junior system to australia.I can imagine with your population and the closeness of towns it would be huge.It is relatively inexpensive you can get started for around 2000 aus, and if you treat it as a training ground , and not a do or die competition, a few tyres a year and maybe a top end rebuild will get you through. We have a new site just set up for adelaide , not a lot on at the moment but gives you a good picture of our track sidewinders.com.au/ Regards Darrell

Just like to give this site a plug, enjoying going there and checking out the action.Well done dude, you will have to brush up on your commentry skills so us southerners know who we are watching.Check it out at www.2xtv.com Regards Darrell

Photos Of Pinjar Park (west Aust) Meeting
chopper replied to Timbo's topic in International World of Speedway
Thanks for the photos, heard a lot about the track from the guys over for the junior titles. What is the inside pole measurement, i personally would like to make our track in adelaide wider and a little longer, so we can start running 200s.Also would like some dates when they become available. 2006 Australian U 21 Championship Updates
chopper replied to REAR WHEEL ROOST DUDE's topic in International World of Speedway
Awsome night of racing, one of the best nights racing i have seen anywhere, worth the admission price alone to see the spectacular sytle of Holder.Very average crowd makes you wonder what you have to put on to get bums in seats.Doyle was very unlucky, does anyone know the rule as to when a race can be declared as Doyle was past the start for the last lap before the red came on and was in no danger of getting caught. From memory it happened in another race and was re run as well. Cheers Darrell -
Hey Bulldog, check out this link, go to aussie history and you will find a story on Danny Kennedy.http://www.ausm.info/ Regards Darrell

Would be interested to read that, do you have a link. Cheers Darrell -
Great to hear the weathers fine Bryn, seems the rains been following you around. We might have to ban you from SA.Speedway definatlety doesnt need any more rain offs. See you back in adelaide, Darrell
-
Sorry for bieng a liitle naive, but how old do you have to be in the uk before you can obtain a 500cc license. In aus you are allowed to practice at 15 but cannot race until 16. Regards Darrell

Yes it was a cold night, some good racing though.Thought Aaron Summers has improved a lot since the last night i was there.Still not sure if i agree with the one off final race(although it may have helped me when i rode, with two thirds and two fourths), especially if its a proper 20 heats where everyone races each other once. As for the crowd, they might want to review there prices 15 dollars for over 12 yrs old is getting near speedway park prices. Chopper

Yes well done Nick, made the long trip more than worthwhile. Darrell -
Great to hear it was a good night, as i have said on here before i have a great deal of respect for Shane for what he has been prepared to put back into the sport. Sad to say i wasnt able to attend but my lad scored a ride down and said he had a very enjoyable night. Darrell

Thanks for that Bryn, dont know about working to hard, but i know its been damn hot.44 and 45 the last two days. See you when i get back, Darrell
-
Hi there Bryn any chance that you could give a more detailed report , even just final points of fri night as i am away and nobody in my family kept any scores. Cheers Darrell Branford
-
Hi there Bryn , when you get the chance could you post a few more details of last night, even just final points as i am working away and the wife was busy in the canteen. Regards Darrell Branford
-
Thanks for posting scores Bryn, i never got to see the final scores.Nice to finally put a face to the name. There was some really great racing on the night, the boys from vic have been supporting us for a while and ride the track well. I was pleased with Roberts score, especially as it could have been three points better but for crossing the white line.We opened up the track again today for the interstate riders, and Robert spent the day doing more laps, he cant get enough of it.You will have to post details of Shanes meeting as i will be away working so will miss out on what should be a good meeting and well deserved. Regards Darrell

Thanks for that Greg, but already tried there with no luck.I know there was a guy there taking pics as i saw the flashes. Will have to hunt him down at one of there meets. Regards Darrell

chopper replied to Ozyace's topic in International World of Speedway
Hi, the last i heard there were eleven riders nominated for the title, at present we only have about six local riders so i presume the rest must be from out of town. Unfortunately we are running the same night as the victorian titles, as we have a regular group of riders that come over.I was under the impression that nominations closed on the 10th of october but dont quote me on that check the sidewinders web site as the sup regs are on there. If anyone coming over needs any help on anything dont hesitate to get in touch. Heard on the grape vine about a change from two valve to four valve heads in 2006 regs.Is this correct and if so why are we changing rules that in the long run are only going to make the sport more expensive. Regards Chopper -

Yes there has been a lot of crap going on over here BH.Try to keep out of it myself, but the upshot is my lad started a season and a half ago and including a ride at mildura has only had twelve meetings. There are no new riders coming into it, and we have lost atleast four to the seniors in the past year. For a sport that i consider to be reasonably cheap, compared to say motocross, i dont know why we are not attracting new riders. What have you been doing in ayr to attract new riders? From what i remember of ayr, when i raced there in the 1985 aussie titles it didnt have any where near the population of adelaide. Regards Darrell
