Double boo to the moderators for denying me the right of reply on the thread. Why should I be upset? Once again I was proved 100% correct. I said Nicholls had no honour, dignity and integrity and his acceptance of a corrupt nomination just proved that to be correct. Once again, sorry to disappoint, but I am serene in this the time of vindication.

British Selection For 2007

Yes he did and full credit to him for that. In the end he just wasn't good enough on the day. I'd be content to see Harris do well in the GPs. As for the shamefully, shameless Nicholls, who must rank as a bigger charity than the RSPCA, I shall be content to see him continue his record of serial, dismal failure. -

Exactly what have either of them done to deserve congratulating? Nicholls failed to qualify and so did Harris. -

Anyway, any chance of those among you who posted that you want to see "the best 15 riders" in the GP coming on and criticising Harris' inclusion. I doubt any of you are deluded enough to say that Harris is superior to Kolodziej. In fact, SCB has already undergone a "Road to Damascus" experience and has posted that he agrees with qualification being the criteria and that Harris, 5th in the qualifer final, deserves his place. The somersaults, twists and turns are just beginning. If you justify Nicholls - falsely in view - as being top 15 in the world, you can't justify Harris. And if you justify Harris, 5th in the qualifer final, you can't justify Nicholls. Thus, I was right all along, just as I knew I was. -

I hate to shatter your illusions, but I was in blissful ignorance of Nicholls' inclusion until this morning, since I was being corporately entertained last evening. However, as you may find if you look, I did say I expected Postlethwaite to announce Nicholls' inclusion at the meeting. And I was under no illusions that there'd be anything other than grovelling acceptance by the serial failure. Nicholls may still be in the GPs, but hopefully one day he'll be there on merit. But don't you go holding your breath waiting for that to happen. If it makes you happy, I'll deign to visit Brandon again. During my last visit I searched in vain for the deluded memebers of the Cult of Jonsson, but couldn't find any. I'm guessing the same will be the case on this occasion. I'm easy enough to find. I'll post on here before I come. Please do come and say hello and don't hide in the shadows like the Cult of Jonsson types did. I can, occasionally, be quite a friendly old Mongol. I just believe in honour, justice and integrity. -

"They" being, of course, the ones who selected him in the first place. In fact, of BSI's much-vaunted nominations last time around, only Hampel and Zagar have qualified for 2007, while Protasiewicz, Iversen and Richardson have been shown the exit. Nicholls is in fourth chance saloon and Lindback in third chance saloon. -

Doesn't make it right. And, as you know, I am in the business of properness, justice and righteousness. As I remember, the Poles were somewhat annoyed that Holta declined to ride in the prestigeous Golden Helmet and kicked him out of their SWC squad after he decided he was Norwegian. Anyway, Gollob chose not to compete in the qualifiers, but as has been shown recently this was because he was pondering his future and had he failed to qualify by right, he'd possibly have declined a nomination. Further proof of the greatness of the man, a shining example to the likes of Nicholls and his ilk, who believe the world owes them a GP place regardless of their ineptitude in the GPs. -

Okay, please inform me of how riders entered this qualification process, under what criteria this process was undertaken, what were the checks and balances to ensure probity in the system. You can't. And why not? Because it is corrupt. Now, please, stop spouting balderdash and poppycock. -

I shall address your points in due course, but first I should like to bring my latest concern, which shows that this is not a obsession about Nicholls, but a quest for integrity. I see, in the list of nominations that Rune Holta is listed as a Pole. This can't be right? The initial Polish qualifying route was the Golden Helmet, won by Tomasz Gollob, that Holta declined to ride in. As far as I remember Holta qualified as a Norwegian and must be listed as Norwegian. If he's now a Pole again, I feel his qualification should be cast aside. The guy has to make his mind up whether he's Polish or Norwegian and not be allowed to pick and choose as he sees fit during the course of a season. It's wrong. Now, to your points. Of course BSI hate qualifiers. Qualifiers mean the likes of Jagus gatecrashing their party and leaving them no room to bring through Kolodziej. And you can be sure that Kolodziej would've been nominated had the ridiculous "quota" system for Poles been already full. Do you think they'd have selected Jagus if the same system as last season had been in force? Not a chance. So why was it changed? Why did the FIM stand up to BSI and insist on qualifiers? Because the public demanded it. That's why. BSI aren't that powerful that they can stand against popular opinion. The speedway public demanded qualification process and BSI partly capitulated. If the speedway public had swung behind me, Nicholls would've been cast aside. But instead everyone cried that Nicholls had to be in. So, how do we effect this change and lead speedway into a bright new future? Stand up to the corrupting, malignant influence of BSI and demand a verifiably just GP series. Together, friends, we can save speedway. Boycott Cardiff and show BSI that we don't want British riders in on charity, but on merit. Make them change. We have the power and we have right on our side. -
I've no real problem with Harris' nomination. In fact, if you go to the Updates site you'll see I proposed him, together with Lindgren, Pedersen and Kolodziej. Pedersen on the grounds that he qualified for 2006 and deserves a second chance. Lindgren and Kolodziej on the grounds that they are young up-and-coming riders deserving of a chance. Nicholls has had his chances and wasted each and every single one.

I'm pleased for Harris, although I suspect he will be a little out of his depth. However, Harris is a rider I've a bit of time for and he does seem able to rise to the occasion. He's certainly far more deserving than either Nicholls or Stead and I hope that he does himself justice. -

Call me all the names you like, for I am serene in the knowledge that I am right and have proved right. I was right that Nicholls wouldn't qualify for 2007, right that the corrupting influence of BSI would throw a few coppers in his hat and right that Nicholls wouldn't have the self-respect or character to refuse a nomination. Dear me, right on so many fronts. And next year I'll probably get to watch everyone squirm as they again justify a nomination for a second rate rider from a second rate speedway nation in the GPs. -

He has more home GPs than Gollob. No current GP circuit is a home track for Gollob, while Eskilstuna is home track for Nicholls. And I don't recall Gollob getting any favours from referees this season, nor Hampel for that matter. But what about that Nicholls and Zagar coming together? A huge slice of luck for Nicholls, albeit that, fair as I am, he was unfortunate to be excluded in the following GP. -
Jagus and Holta at least qualified. The real wasters are Nicholls and Harris, neither of whom qualified. And Harris is less of a waster than Nicholls, who shames the sport with his constantly having to beg for a place at the GPs.

Define honourable please? Is it honourable to state that you won't deserve a place if you can't qualify on merit and then accept charity. Nicholls has not a single shred of honour. I'll tell you honour. Honour is a rider with more talent in a clipping from his little finger than Nicholls has in his entire being, saying he'll have to seriously consider his GP future if he failed to qualify by right. That rider, in a barnstorming display of brilliance, during which he made Nicholls look like a novice in one race, did qualify. Next season will probably be his last in the GPs, because he has great pride and doesn't wish to become some tired circus act for BSI. Nicholls, on the other hand, without a second thought, bins his brave words of earlier in the season and takes charity. The man has no honour, no pride and no dignity. He is a disgrace. -

But my crusade will carry on. A crusade for justice and probity in the world of speedway. And your hero, apparently, confessed to a drunken romp at a GP, so I'd say my comments were entirely accurate. While others whose GP lives were hanging on the result of Bydgoszcz were probably safely tucked up in bed, Nicholls was out drinking. And, as it goes, since the hated BSI Reading were defeated, I'm reasonably happy at the minute. -

Postlethwaite wouldn't have announced if he hadn't, would he? He look ridiculous if Nicholls now declined. What a waste of 50% of the nominations on a second rate nation and second rate riders. -

Just as I expected, Postlethwaite announced that a massive 50% of his wild card picks are squandered on one second rate nation. Nicholls illustrates his complete and utter lack of shame, dignity, credibility and honour - the man is a complete and utter disgrace. Shame on him, shame on BSI and shame on British speedway. -

Remind me how many GPs are raced on joke tracks like Kirkmanshulme Lane? And did you happen to catch Simon Stead's latest powerhouse display in Poland? A mere couple of points from four rides against second tier opposition. Stead would be a complete embarrassment in the GPs, while Kolodziej would more than hold his own.
