  1. Talking of Nicki......how did he get to the Semi's? Even the Sky Sports guy's got it wrong...someone tell me how it works?
  2. I'd just settle for an England v Australia at PL level right now. Yes I went to a bunch of those '73 meetings including the Final.....most of them were pretty darn good.
  3. CUTE!!!! Wonder whatever happened to him?
  4. Norbold........just curious here.....did you ever go to those NX supporters clubs meetings / get togethers during the '60's???
  5. Just in case anyone is interested the North American Indoor Ice Speedway in well under way and very happy that one of the races is very near my home city.........British, American & Canadian Riders are taking part. For all the information and results you can get them here: http://www.xiir.com/index.html
  6. Agree with that....and since three of the GP's are his home country....I for one would not bet against him.
  7. Would just love to see Crump in the first three to equal Fundin's long standing record.
  8. Any luck? Really interested in this.
  9. Now before I get assaulted I am not taking anything away from Bob Andrews' accomplishments. I watched him race many many times and always thought he was a very good rider. Now for my point here....the 1969 World Pairs was NOT a World Pairs...it was a "Best Pairs International championship FIM 1969". This was, I believe a trial for a World Pairs.....and even though they handed out FIM Gold, Silver & Bronze medals (as the FIM did for all its events), this was not a World championship and is "still" NOT recognized as such. I really would be interested to know whether the medals given out said "World Championship" though. That also goes for the 1968 meeting.......the first official World Pairs was 1970 in Malmo. But to reiterate I would love to know if those medals say "VM" in which case....HISTORY SHOULD BE CHANGED.
  10. I'm not sure if anyone has said this already but I'm not going back to check all those pages. My point......TONS of people wanted the old type World Final back where every rider gets an opportunity of getting to the World Final....isn't this what Zorro has done even if it is the GP? He came good on the day, which in a World final was all that counted...just ask Szackiel in '73. I certainly don't think he is going to disgrace himself in the GP series....that has been done by others in the past few years. And on the subject of NO British riders in the GP....I'm not biased to this...I am a Canadian but my feeling is a British Rider MUST be the GP series, if only to keep Cardiff alive and well....most say he is not ready but I say give Woffinden a chance....he will certainly be out to prove himself and will NOT disgrace himself, how else does he get the experience. Good Luck to Zorro in the GP next year!!!
  11. Now that was good!!!! Well done! Did not check out the picture on Page 15....must be Jack!!
  12. Although it says (Top Picture) leading is Jack Geran....that sure looks like Ken McKinlay......that tell tale elbow up in the air... Am I wrong?
  13. I will be staying with a friend in Bristol...Plan to be at Somerset the night before and Newport the day after.....not like I really need Speedway....our season is just ONE DAY old here...well Two now!
  14. All sounds just great to me....should be there around 9:00am!!! This is my third visit to the Cardiff GP....kinda wondering why I didn't know about the POW before....I guess that is what happens when you live in the "Colonies"!!!
  15. When is everyone going to the POW....before or after the GP? I will be there, it would be good to meet some of you......I leave Canada for my BIG Speedway trip on June 25...and of course I'll be at the GP. Oh yes.....it should be easy to find me....I'll have Canada everywhere on me!!!!
  16. Even the FIM on their site has his name spelled both ways......anyone know FOR SURE the correct spelling of his name?
  17. Canada has one place....and will be taken by Kyle Legault.....looking to see him do very well and qualify for the GP Challenge Final like he did a couple of years ago.
  18. Sad state of affairs....agree with Squall.....used to get up and watch F1 all the time....will definitely not bother now. Speedway WILL probably follow F1 sooner or later...sad if it does.....but then who really cares, it seems most don't care for the current GP system anyway. Although 40,000+ fans at Cardiff may not agree!!! I like the GP's....but I DO miss the one off World Final!
  19. That is one thing I have never been able to do in my visits to England Bob...and this is go to Plaistow and do the walk to the Stadium as I did every week until the closure in '72. Many many good memories from those days, "Customhousekid" hit many of them. My worst memory was of course the Lokeren Disaster....I was in Holland at the time and watched those two meeting, talked to some of the riders....imagine my horror listening to Dutch radio the next morning. This year is going to be wonderful....I have made contact after 40 years with some of the people I used to go to West Ham with and all their away meetings, we have not seen each other for all those years......we are meeting in July at probably Lakeside.....can't wait.
  20. Although I have seen many many test matches and many better one's that immediately came to mind for me, the one that stood out was the Great Britain v USSR at Wembley in 1964. Although the Russians were badly beaten and lost a rider (Vitaly Shilo) to a serious injury, the atmosphere at Wembley was electric, this was the very first ever of the Russian Internationals. The British fans were fantastic, screaming at the end " We want the Russians" to do a lap of Honour....to this the Russians did!!!
  21. dean2009....I was in Australia a few years ago and attended the auction of "stuff" owned by Frank Arthur......most of his trophies and I think the plaque you are talking about (which was given to all members of both teams) went for CONSIDERABLE Aussie dollars. $300 - $400 AUD
