  1. Obviously it does not agree with my filled in programme but a mistake could have happened.....anyway, yes I do have the 1979 programme and its filled in. However, I do not speak or read Russian so this one is going to be more difficult.....if you can tell me what you need I can look it up, ideally if you have a riding order it would make it much easier.
  2. OK so here you go, straight from the programme.....so much for the so-called official scores. The first column are the riding numbers and changes are in RED Hope this helps. Haven't been on the BSF for a long time, I see not too much has changed. 12 1 Finn Jensen Denmark 13 14 13 Kevin Jolly England 3 12 16 Neil Middledith England 2 12 15 Steve Finch England 1 12 06 Erik Gundersen Denmark 11 10 05 Hans Nielsen Denmark 10 04 Josef Juza Czech Republic 8 08 Pavel Karnas Czech Republic 8 10 Henryk Olszak Poland 6 02 Ryszard Romaniak Poland 6 07 Fausto Birbini Italy 5 11 Lillebror Johansson Sweden 5 14 Nikolaj Manev Bulgaria 4 09 Mieczyslaw Kmieciak Poland 4 01 Armando Gigliali Italy 2 03 Roman Jankowski Poland 2 Finn Jensen was beaten in his last ride by Kevin Jolly.
  3. Sorry Jim you must have mis-understood....NOTHING to do with Gollob....I'm talking about Crump.
  4. He has just equalled Fundin's record of 10 straight years in the first three.....did not think anyone would ever do that after Ove.
  5. OFFICIALLY since my compatriot BOBBATH got it wrong it was at Cradley and on the date as stated by Guernsey. And yes BOBBATH I was at the Harringay for that one and for the first Internationale as well. I was a young-un though!
  6. 1 Redmond 15, 2 Middleditch 13, 3 Hockaday 13, 4 Robinson 11, 5 Templeton D 10, 6 Lewis & Kitchen 9, 8 Brown & Hole 8, 10 Morton & Roper 5, 12 Reeves 4, 13 Day 3, 14 Featherby 1, 15 Strachan & Cox 0 Reserves: Eadon & Gilbertson 3 each
  7. Just thought I would add a little twist to this and put down what I don't miss about the 1970's but happens today. Playing around with the clutch and gardening at the gate. Ignoring starting marshalls instructions. After a red light unsatisfactory start....going back to the pits. We have put a stop to all this in Canada, primarily because we have about 45-50 races (not all Speedway) to get through in 3 hours and having these theatrics would make it impossible to complete. Oh yes...and all this for 5 quid!!!
  8. The Canadian Speedway National for 2010 was run last night. Results are; 1 Aaron Hesmer (Canada) 2 Jeff Orosz (Canada) 3 Mike Buman (USA) Meeting had a very unfortunate start with Fred Legault (Kyle's father) taking a tumble and breaking his left arm.
  9. Quite agree with you...its unfortunate that so many run down the GP's but they have been getting better and better everywhere...I know a few have been real dogs but generally its pretty good racing. I only get to go over there once every couple of years and I'm sorry to say after going to Wembley, Gothenburg and few others of the "One Off" World Finals...they are becoming a distant memory. If they can continue producing GP's like Leszno, Torun & Cardiff....it can only get better.
  10. Thanks, now I think I understand.....first its race wins, then if all level its who you have beaten in the qualfying.....right?
  11. Talking of Nicki......how did he get to the Semi's? Even the Sky Sports guy's got it wrong...someone tell me how it works?
  12. I'd just settle for an England v Australia at PL level right now. Yes I went to a bunch of those '73 meetings including the Final.....most of them were pretty darn good.
  13. CUTE!!!! Wonder whatever happened to him?
  14. Norbold........just curious here.....did you ever go to those NX supporters clubs meetings / get togethers during the '60's???
  15. Just in case anyone is interested the North American Indoor Ice Speedway in well under way and very happy that one of the races is very near my home city.........British, American & Canadian Riders are taking part. For all the information and results you can get them here: http://www.xiir.com/index.html
  16. Agree with that....and since three of the GP's are his home country....I for one would not bet against him.
  17. Would just love to see Crump in the first three to equal Fundin's long standing record.
  18. Any luck? Really interested in this.
  19. Now before I get assaulted I am not taking anything away from Bob Andrews' accomplishments. I watched him race many many times and always thought he was a very good rider. Now for my point here....the 1969 World Pairs was NOT a World Pairs...it was a "Best Pairs International championship FIM 1969". This was, I believe a trial for a World Pairs.....and even though they handed out FIM Gold, Silver & Bronze medals (as the FIM did for all its events), this was not a World championship and is "still" NOT recognized as such. I really would be interested to know whether the medals given out said "World Championship" though. That also goes for the 1968 meeting.......the first official World Pairs was 1970 in Malmo. But to reiterate I would love to know if those medals say "VM" in which case....HISTORY SHOULD BE CHANGED.
  20. I'm not sure if anyone has said this already but I'm not going back to check all those pages. My point......TONS of people wanted the old type World Final back where every rider gets an opportunity of getting to the World Final....isn't this what Zorro has done even if it is the GP? He came good on the day, which in a World final was all that counted...just ask Szackiel in '73. I certainly don't think he is going to disgrace himself in the GP series....that has been done by others in the past few years. And on the subject of NO British riders in the GP....I'm not biased to this...I am a Canadian but my feeling is a British Rider MUST be the GP series, if only to keep Cardiff alive and well....most say he is not ready but I say give Woffinden a chance....he will certainly be out to prove himself and will NOT disgrace himself, how else does he get the experience. Good Luck to Zorro in the GP next year!!!
  21. Now that was good!!!! Well done! Did not check out the picture on Page 15....must be Jack!!
