I can personally vouch for that.Ray and I came through the turnstiles together and were stood chatting by the pits when the above happened.Ive NEVER seen Ray so upset, and we have been friends for over 30 years. If there is one person more highly thought of concerning Weymouth Speedway than Ray,then I havent met them. With the comments made on here yesterday, and subsequently removed, and previous comments made by the same person,is it any wonder why Weymouth Speedway is in such a state? Very very sad. The sooner the sale goes through, the better.

Buxton V Newport 31/10 - Sunday Start Time
BobC replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
To be honest,I dont give a damn anymore. This whole scenario is a complete farce. At the start of any season, there are only two absolutely vital fixtures. The Play Off Finals. We dont even have one of those now. A sure fire way to keep the terraces empty. Even I cant be bothered with this one off meeting.Had it been a proper Home and Away Final,I would have gone to both legs. If the meeting goes ahead,I sincerely hope all the riders stay safe. The result means absolutely nothing to me at all. -
Had text to say its OFF tonight. Now confirmed on BSPA website. Now what happens?

I was told that Mark Simmonds rides in both legs of the Final.

Newport v Buxton is listed on BSPA site as Fri 29th. -
Yesterday was a shambles from start to finish. Congratualtions to Newport for reaching the Play Off Final. Also a huge well done to Brandon Freemantle on his NL debut.A superb effort. The track was awful.Ive seen smoother ploughed fields.Trying to prepare it,the 2 tractors crashed on the 1st turn! Unbeleviable. One is seriously damaged, with one of the front wheels at right angles to where it should be pointing. Then the fun and games with the Richie Worrall issue.Firstly,Bmth didnt name their reserves until they arrived.Once again the 'Stoneman isnt available to ride' card was played. Not the first time this season.I understand that Graham Reeve overruled Bmths request to use Worrall,as did referee Dave Robinson. Quite extraordinarily, both Robinson and Garry May had a full on slanging match in the pits, both shouting at each other.Whos right and whos wrong is one thing, but this surely 'bringing the sport in to disrepute? Its not on. The meeting itself was littered with falls, even to the most experienced riders. When the likes of Atkin and Herne both wobble and slide off as if they have never ridden a bike before,as late Hts 13 and 14,you have to wonder. For Newport, only Kyle newman didnt fall,as he led from the front with 13+1. Brandon Freemantle.A future star, without any doubt.Gates like a rocket, and looks exciting. In Ht2,he led for a lap, before spinning off on turn 1,(so did 4 others later).Ht4 he seemed to be on his way to 2nd place. However Baseby seemed to go into turn 3 a bit too quick and accidently forced him into the mire on the outside, and then fell.Very unlucky.Should have had 5pts in the locker, but had zero.Ending up with 4+2 was an excellent effort. Not the best of meetings, and seemed to take forever to complete.I have no doubt that had Worrall ridden,Bmth would be in the Final right now.Whatever the rights and wrongs of this issue, the biggest losers are the fans.I havent supported any specific team in any League this season. What does seem evident to me is that almost all Promoters have their own agenda.Shame really as each team needs supporters. The best way to keep the terraces empty is to continue this path of self destruction. One way or another, the powers that be seem to have strangled the life out of the NL.If its not already dead, then the last rites arent far away.Inconsistent is an understatement. What happened to the statement at the start of the season which said that all 3 Leagues would be run the same way? Certainly the NL hasnt been run very well.

A lively meeting on an extremely dusty track. Scores... Weymouth James Cockle 3,3,2,3,3 = 14 Only beaten by Mad Dog. Brendan Johnson 0,0,1,1,1' = 3+1 On a 5-1 in Ht8 with half lap to go,when fuel line broke. Tom Brown 2',2',3,1',1,1 = 10+3 After nasty crash in Ht5,laid down to miss Burmeister, did very well on his farewell. Karl Mason 3,3,1,3,0 = 10 Steady, battled all the way. Adam McKinna R/R Richard Andrews 1,1,0,1 = 3 Picked up the odd point, match winning ones though! Gary Cottham 3,1,x,3,2 = 9 Should have been excluded in the 2 races he finished without a complete exhaust! USA Tyson Burmeister 2,fx,2,2 = 6 Good effort, unlucky in Ht5,fell as he led Tom Brown who clattered into him. John Marquez 1',1,2,1' = 5+2 Solid if not spectacular Mike Buman 0,2',fx = 2+1 Big learning curve for him. Shawn McConnell 1,3,3,6,2 = 15 Rolled back the years with a superb display.Knocked off team mate in Ht10,but ref exc wrong rider! Eddie Castro 2',2,2,0 = 6+1 Kept his lines well, very steady. Robbie Sauer 0,0,0 = 0 Off the pace. Bryce Starks 2,3,0,3,2',0 = 10+1 Excellent performance.Very exciting. When asked what he thought of the track, before the meeting,he said it 'looked big'! Welcome to GB matey! I do like what Ive seen of him. Steve Evans...Sincere thanx for bringing the team over. They once again do you credit.Im unlikely to see them race again over here,so Best Wishes for a successful remainder of your tour. Oh and finally,as a Poole fan,Ive taken a lot of stick from Sandie,at Plymouth yesterday and Weymouth tonight, after Coventrys win on Monday.Fair play. That I can take, but laughing at my 1999 programme board featuring Mark Loram is going too far! Seriouisly well done Sandie,I know how hard you are working with the merchandise.

Not a classic by any means. Plymouth had added extra strength in the shape of Kyle Hughes, and some inexperienced riders for USA. It wasnt until around HT11 that the visitors found their feet, and competed hard from then on.Bike problems and lack of track knowledge? Im not sure, probably both. Burmeister was the obvious star.Led Ht1 for a while before locking up and letting Glanz through.A lap later, did the same thing and let Pickard through.Trying too hard was how we felt. Sauer struggled, similar in build and style to McConnell. Stark was very lively, examining the grass and safety fence on the same turn! Rode better than his points return. An exciting future ahead for this lad. McConnell largely disappointed.Stylish as ever but only on the pace at the end. Castro was all action, never say die.Got himself into some strange shapes, when discretion was perhaps the order of the day. Marquez stayed in there, and picked his points without really threatening. Buman never really got to grips with it. Scorers: PLYMOUTH Glanz 3,3,2',1' = 9+2 Pickard 2',2',3,3,3 = 13+2 Simmonds 3,2',2',3 = 10+2 Stephens FX,3,3,3 = 9 Hughes 3,3,3,2 = 11 Bates 3,2',1,1,FX = 7+1 Reade 1,1,2',1, 5+1 USA Burmeister 1,1,4,3,2 = 11 Sauer 0,0,0 = 0 Starks 2,1,1,FX,1' = 5+1 McConnell FX 0,0,2 = 2 Castro 2,1,1,FX = 4 Marquez 2,0,1,0,2 = 5 Buman 0,0,0,0 = 0 Ht13 was probably the pick of the bunch.Rerun after Castro FX.Burmeister led from the start, with Glanz and Hughes all over him, inside and out.The Devils seemed to be racing each other! Hughes finally got by Glanz and set after Tyson, but too late. Best wishes to Matt Bates after his nasty fall in Ht15.Hit the fence very hard with his back coming off turn 4. MoM for me was Jaimie Pickard.Hard and fast all night, even coming from the back on several occasions.Well deserved Paid Maximum. Write these guys off at you peril,as I think they are going to get better as the tour unfolds. Looking forward to Weymouth tonight.Good Luck to everyone concerned.

Bournemouth V Newport - Play Off Semi 1st Leg
BobC replied to Loose Trapper 1's topic in National League Speedway
Buccs did ride under protest. See here.... http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/speedway/be_buccaneers/8436474.Jay_and_James_injured_in_Buccs_play_off_loss/ I like it.Garry May tried everything in the book to cheat his way to getting another rider in for a so called ''unavailable rider'.He was refused. The 'incoming rider' was told by Bmth he was in the meeting a couple of weeks ago.It came about because Newport wanted to use the same rider, but he told them that he was already lined to ride for Bmth!! No matter,Newport did their job, although there was specualtion on the terraces that the Buccs had been ordered to lose as Matt Ford didnt want anymore NL meetings. -

I understand that Bmth were riding under protest at Birks inclusion. A rather ignominious end for the Buccs. I dont give a tinkers cuss right now about the result. Sincere Best Wishes to both Jay Herne and James Brundle. Thats all that REALLY matters. -

C'mon Hornets! Id dearly love them to stuff Bmth tonight.I cant see it,but hey, give it a go lads. Yes,even you Aaron! The way Buxton are seemingly winning for fun at the moment, its going to be very daunting in the Final anyway, for whoever gets to the Final. -

Neil,Jake rode extremely well in BOTH meetings. 9pts for Kings Lynn and 10pts for Rye House. Quick from the starts and lively when he didnt gate. Very impressed today.

An excellent meeting. No more than Ive come to expect over the years. Plenty of on track action, loads of passing and effort. Congratualtions to Brandon Freemantle and Robert Lambert on their respective title wins. Special mention to Anders Rowe.In the 125cc class he looked great out on track,a real speedway rider in miniature!Shame he fell in the Final. Good effort mate.Oh and tell your dad not to shout so loud from the centre green.Drowned out the sound of your bike! Seriously though, well done Del,hes coming along nicely. Rather than type out the results, see link to a scanned copy of my programme the meeting. Please note, the meeting referee was Christina Turnbull, who had an easy day in the box.(See,told you Id be kind to you! ) http://sports.webshots.com/album/578606659ILmOnU Well done to Phil Morris,Neil Vatcher,Graham Jones and Graham Reeve for an excellent series in 2010.

Well if its run as quickly as it was at Weymouth (1hr 20 mins),Im off to Argyle v Sheff Weds at 3pm! If not, then its off to the pub for some decent pub grub.HalifaxTiger will be there as well. Really looking forward to the U15's.They have been excellent meetings over the years.I think the Plymouth track actually suits the youngsters.

Scorers. An excellent meeting all round.Plymouth had their big guns firing and made life very awkward for the understandably tired Hornets.Three meetings in as many days takes some doing. I was privaliged to be at the 3 Hornets meetings and the Wasps. Some great speedway to be seen in all of them.I think the one thing that stood out by a long long way was TEAM SPIRIT.It would have been so easy to let heads drop when Tony was injured at Scunny. It actually seemed to fire them up. A good all round effort from them all. However,I will select my 'man of the weekend'. Take a bow Tom Young.Superb.I know he likes it at Scunny, but it was his effort at Rye that took the eye for me.I wasnt expecting that.Well done Tom. So to the play offs.If the Hornets ride as a unit, like the last 3 days, they should fear no one.Beware, these Hornets team is coming to get you.

U21 World Team Cup - British Team Selection
BobC replied to RPNY's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not a good meeting at all, tbh. I do not see any point in knocking any of the Team GB riders.Believe me,the effort was there. What was very plain to see was the gulf between our lads and the others. The Swedes,Danes and Poles have got the junior set up right. In all honesty,we Brits havent got a clue. As has been aluded to,its all to do with the 'Golden Handshake brigade'.Until the BSPA as collective get up off their backsides and put in place a full and proper structure for introducing youngsters,we dont stand a chance in the International arena for the forseeable future.Being realistic about it,we only had Bridger competing and mixing it all day. I know for a fact that both Neil Vatcher and Phil Morris sweated more than blood and tears yesterday. You only had to see the pain in their faces at the end.As were the riders,I might add. While I agree that had Tai been there,we might well have come 3rd or even 2nd.That in itself would only have served to mask over the cracks. Something I noticed in the pits.Poland had KK there, constantly helping the youngsters.Denmark had Kenneth Bjerre offering support, who did the Brits have? NOBODY.Chris Louis was there, but walked by with hands in his pockets, and never said a word.Surely a current Elite rider, not riding on the day could have been there with any advice at all? Anyone in any doubt about how far we have fallen behind the rest of the Speedway World in development terms, saw it for real yesterday. Wake up BSPA.Do something NOW,not tomorrow,NOW. -
Plymouth Devils V Newport Hornets
BobC replied to philcrumpisgod's topic in National League Speedway
Another excellent away win for the Hornets. This one dragged on and on,with no fully functioning tapes, elastic starts, and finally green lights. The last 3 races were well after the 9.30pm curfew! Was it really worth risking any potential problems? Margaret Vardy was so inconsistent with the starts,it became farcical in the end.So much so that in Ht15,Stephens,a surprise choice to the Devils fans, was half a bike length up before the others had moved! Some she let go,others were pulled back.In many ways it was a relief when it was over. Ht4 was very eventful. Twice rerun as Kyle Newman fell.Genuine 1st bend bunching on each occasion.Credit due to Ben Reade, who gated well, and simply held his line as they all came together. He rode well all night.Pleased to see him progressing.I know on the updates it says that quote '' Newman down again on the 1st turn and its all 4 back again. Crowd not happy as Newman seemed to go down quite easily after missing the gate'' unquote. I hadnt realised at the time that in fact it was Reads footrest going through Kyles front wheel and removed half a dozen spokes! On those incidents,I thought they were correctly handled, despite my obvious interest in Kyle. Many Devils fans around me were very surprised that the meeting went way beyond the curfew. That said, they did admit that had Plymouth got a 5-1 to lead in Hts 13 or 14,it may well have been halted! I must admit,Lee Smart isnt on my list of favourite riders. However last night he was awesome.Electric starts or 1st turns all night.Even in Ht15 where he was being well blocked with the team riding of Glanz/Stephens,he didnt give up.On bend 2 of the last lap,he had his only real chance to split them.Boy did he ever! Went by Stephens so fast that he almost took Glanz as well.Terrific ride. One of those that even if the result goes against my team,I could only stand, applaud and admire.Well done Lee.Fair play to the Devils fans who reacted very sportingly and gave him a rousing ovation. Not the best of nights, with words being exchanged with Mrs Vardy well after the end of the meeting. Thanks to Chris,Mel,Big Dave,Kirsty, all Devils fans, for your company. It makes coming down there a pleasure.Oh,better not forget the 'yokel farmer' who is always very entertaining with his friendly insults.(At least I think they are!) -

Not the best of meetings,I must say. Strange goings on in Ht3.As the riders entered the 1st turn, all but Mason slowed up.Owen, who was ahead of Johnson and Warwick, had a bike problem, causing the other two riders to take evasive action.Meanwhile Mason kept going and was well on the way to the 3rd turn.Owen pulled onto the centre green,THEN the red lights came on. If they came on before,I hadnt noticed. So,should Owen have been allowed into the rerun? Let alone going onto win it. A definite point lost by IOW. Not the best of double headers,to be honest.Worrying for me was the amount of dust, right from the start. With the World U21 Team Cup Final there on Sunday,I hope they have better provisions lined up.This was a dust fest. -

Love the wording of that Jules! To me it reads that Kyle put his foot in the way of the deflector! I hardly think so,more a case of the rider on the inside taking his foot away from him.How on earth can video footage taken fron the 1st turn, show EXACTLY what happened going into the 3rd turn? Well,I was stood right by the pit gate, just inside the pits.I have no doubt the referee got it wrong.
