  1. I am here! :-) Leon got zero on first ride, then 12 from 4 rides.Finished 3rd. First time Ive seen him ride, going to be a contender on Thursday.Well impressed. Race off for 1st,and 3run offs for lasttwo places as we have a 5rider tie on 7pts. JPB off to hospital with suspected popped shoulder.
  2. JPB fell awkwardly in Ht 1 of 2nd semi.Withdrawn. Flint has scored 0,3,3 so far!
  3. Bit of a gate and go,to be honest. 1st Knudsen 15, List 14, Rew 12,Liebmann 10 Hicks 10, Zupinski 9, Bkakkilt 8, Kaibushev 7weretop eight. Jedd List of Australia should have won it, but almost came off while leading Knudsen, who went through the gap.Not sure how they both didnt crash.List does look remarkably like Doyle when racing. Had to double check myself! :-) Kyle Bickley suffered with a blown motor in practice, got it back but not in time to test it.Flat as a proverbial pancake.Down to engine rather than ability. Now for Semi 2 later.
  4. Well, I am going over to watch all 3 meetings. Entrance is FREE for both Semi Finals and only £4.50 for the Final. Bargain! I will be supporting the 3 Brits, but especially Kyle Bickley. Looks to be very competitive. Cant wait.
  5. I quite agree. The Promotion there are superb. From the moment you enter the stadium, you feel part of the show. I had already pencilled this meeting in, before knowing about Bewley and Smith being missing. I agree, its far from ideal. However, the rider I wanted to watch,Kyle Bickley was there so I was happy to travel anyway.. As it turned out, it was all over very early on as the Colts ran riot. If anything, the score would have been a little closer with the missing two, as I dont think Smith would have ridden so well. For me, Kyle is a joy to watch.Such an easy smooth style that totally belies his age. Doesnt stand for any nonsense in the first turn either. I was stood on bend one, with HalifaxTiger. We were talking with Barry Bishop and you could see the pain etched in his face as the meeting unfolded. The work that guy puts in deserves success. Sadly one or two Warriors didnt seem to want to 'bust a gut' to save some respect. Enjoyed the trip all the same, met up with a guy from Belle Vue who had not been before. He seemed to like his vist. Wonder why?! If you get the chance, do try to get there.A Promoter who deserves your support. Cant say that about many current custodians, thats for sure.
  6. Good luck with that! That said, Poole have to be at Rye House for a 19.30 start, same day. Both teams must be desperate to get the fixtures in before the cut off date. Best hope for some good weather.
  7. No its not fine at all. Ford should deal with any problems in house, not over the media. Amateurish at best.
  8. That was an absolute shambles. Well done to Somerset. Who on earth thought that our line up was going to be competitive? No balance to it at all. As has been said, Lahti at 2, Holder/Worrall 3/4 and Kennet at 5. Im sure Poole would have won if we had used that formation.. Agree with SS re Hans in Ht15. Find it hard to criticise him, as he has been the mainstay all season, but a very poor ride cost us. Richie was the only rider who can say he was competitive. Holder poor by recent standards.Very unlucky in Ht12. Coming off turn 4, Allen turned left on him and clipped his front wheel. Allen did the exactly the same coming off turn 2 but Holder was already there. Had this happened on turn 4, I think Allen would have been excluded.Holder had no room to manoeuvre. Kennett was a expected. Some excellent hard n fast drives round the boards reaped 2 race wins. Did what was expected. Lahti was poor Starke should be winning Ht2.Tried hard though Shanes 3 3rds +bonus, doing his job. Changes are needed, but who goes out and who comes in? Season looks over to me.
  9. Dear Graham Reeve: I have made an appointment at Specsavers for you. A couple of your decision were shocking and ultimately cost Plymouth the win. Ht11. Bewley ,although with his front wheel well over the inside line, just kept his back wheel the right side of it.The balance this lad has is awesome to watch. Never lost ground despite the lift. After Smith had fallen and fx., in the rerun,Bewley clearly had both wheels INSIDE the white line by a good 12-18 inches, it should have been a 5-0 instead of a 3-3. Unreal in Ht14. Priest gated, locked up and Andrews and Mellish somehow getting their bikes down very quickly, but still ended up in a heap, with Andrews losing skin on fingers. The audible gasp from the crowd was clear for everyone to hear.as Reeves ordered a rerun with all 4! It was so clear what had happened. In the rerun, Priest locks up again, but doesnt fall, with Andrews falling and ending up on the centre green. At least this time he got it right, and excluded Priest Nothing malicious at all. Bewley is an awesome talent with incredible balance,a joy to watch. Immaculate maximum, although extremely fortunate in that one ride.Otherwise on a different planet to the rest.Love watching young Bickley. In Ht12, Compton led until bend2, lap4, made a small error, Bickley was there and forced Compton to give way.Hard but very fair and a delight to watch.k Atkins was flying, almost literally in Ht9, Superb first turn, backed up by Compton, Devils on 5-1 when Henry lifted violently on turns 1/2 and flew uncontrollably into the air fence. Thankfully despite puncturing the fence panel, he walked away. Lucky boy. As is often the case, in the rerun,Smith gated and gone. Devils deserved to win, but Mr Reeve saw to it that they didnt. Colts got lucky.
  10. Colts must fancy their chances in this one. Both Bewley and Bickley rode superbly in the recent U19's down here. Smith was there or thereabouts too, including a fall. I knew Bewley would be good, but was immensely impressed with Bickley. He not only beat a very quick JPB, but actually out rode him. Very clever moves and positioning on the bike proved better than sheer speed. Real speedway and he became a favourite of mine right there and then! Devils will have to be on top form to get anything from this. Looking forward to this one.
  11. Thankfully I wasnt there last night. Well done Swindon, you can only beat whats in front of you. Not a lot from what Im reading! I was there for the KL meeting, yet despite the score, Poole were thoroughly thrashed that night. The score most definitely flattered Poole, big time. I said then that major changes need to be made as Poole were cannon fodder for a half decent team. I visited the pits before the KL meeting and all I saw was Poole riders doing their own thing. Normally theres plenty of banter etc. No sign of it at all. No apparent team spirit. KL side were all laughing joking and very up beat. The result was inevitable. We got very very lucky at KL and Wolves, it flatters to deceive. Its probably the worst thing has happened to be honest, as it simply papered over the cracks. Now is the time when you find out who the real fans are. Plenty when your winning. Ive heard that quite a few fans were saying they wont come back. Why? Get behind YOUR team, as its now when they really need you. When you have a bad time at work or home, do you dessert your friends or family? Of course not. The best medicine is a comforting word from those that care. I simply cant make it to Poole every week, I live over 100 miles away, Plymouth is my local track and I dont finish work on time. I would be there though if I could. I dont always agree or like some of things Ford does, but Poole Speedway is in my blood. I hate seeing the club in disarray as it currently appears to be. It needs sorting and quickly. Changes are coming according to Ford. I hope so.
  12. One of the major effects on track surfaces is machinery. In days gone by, the engine used 'total destroy' oil system. Once the engine warmed up it 'leaked' oil as the riders were going round. Not excessively, just a little each race. The overall effect of that was the track retained any dampness as the oil mixed with shale used to smell wonderful as the riders raced. The modern day engines have an oil cathcher and the riders have to dump their used oil in a specific oil drum. I know one promoter fills up the water bowser and then tips some of the used oil in it. They usually have a superb racing surface! Oh for the smell of 'Castrol R' again. its all synthetic stuff now. I absolutely love watching speedway at Plymouth. Certainly in my top 5 tracks in the Country. I just wouldnt want to be a promoter trying to prepare a track, whatever the weather. A lot of armchair fans seem to know better, but very few offer any help.
  13. Good job you didnt see him. Matchstick white legs in shorts. Good grief, even HalifaxTiger doesnt look that bad!
  14. First and foremost, well done Belle Vue. A thoroughly deserved win. Rode as a team and if anything the score flattered Poole. Before the meeting met up with SS,Baz and Oliver Miles(I think!) We ALL agreed it was an away win, just a question of how many.Around 6 points was the consensus. We also all agreed that the Poole team was out of balance, should have been Klindt at 2 and Holder at 4. The meeting itself was like a mirror image of when Swindon won here. Away team racing away to a big lead when the track was wet, deep and rutted. Once the track dried out Poole getting back into it. Very embarrassing to not have a race winner until Ht7. Ride of the night was obviously Starkes excellent Ht11. The ride I enjoyed the most was actually Ht12 and Dan Bewley. He clearly must have watched the previous ride of Starkes, round the boards. As early as coming off the second bend, he sensed what was going to happen and moved over to cover and did the same again round turns 3 and 4.Blocked Starkes move, hard but very fair. Very clever ride from someone so young. One of the few riders that makes me want to go to a meeting to watch just him. He is an awesome talent and British too! Not watched the BT coverage yet, but will lookout for the points raised by others. Well done Aces. Maybe its time to go one better, 3rd time lucky and all that. If its not going to be Poole, which is almost certain!, then I want the Aces to do it.
  15. Ive tried PM, but you cant accept any more messages. If help still required, please let me know. Happy to help.
  16. I remember Brum v Poole.Christer was inside Soren and they both went into the fence by the pit gate. Both laying still for a moment, then big Arthur Browning got involved. He literally stepped over the fence and started on Christer! Quite funny seeing Arthur then being pushed away by Soren! :-)
  17. Jack Parker. Probably the best ever rider never to have won an Official World Title He won just about everything else.
  18. Nothing to do with his stupid decision to drop probably the most marketable rider in the 2017 team? Hes local and fans can relate to that. Its Fords own fault. Most potential sponsors are fans first anyway. They watch and listen to terrace talk. They are not stupid, they know whats going on. Kyle will do almost anything to help promote Poole Speedway, take his bike to schools, shopping centres, talk to the fans, photos etc are never a problem. He works very hard on sponsorship. I really like Paul Starke and his Dad Tony. Smashing people.I sincerely wish Paul all the best at Poole, I am very pleased to welcome him into the team Same goes for Kyle, whoever he ends up riding for. Good luck to both riders, as their form will be under severe scrutiny from a lot of fans.
  19. Thats a big whoosh for you Skidder! Id rather have Paul Starke as a guest rather than Bates, tbh.
  20. Tim has now quit Plymouth after being fined for his comments earlier this season. He has, I understand, handed in all his licences etc.
  21. Yes, but gate 2 was awful and Poole chose 1&3! :-)
  22. Eh? How do you work that out? Josh had ef at the tapes, pulled back once the green light came on. Ref started the race, quite right to. He fell when in 4th place on the last lap! So, he was never in a points scoring position anyway! Klindt on the other hand had a safe 2nd when his bike went. Then drifted into Shanes path baulking his run to go round outside. Personally, I think Middlo messed up the R/R rides. When Schlein came out, we were shocked, as it should have been Klindt or Newman. It then left Newman to have 3 rides in 3 heats later on. As has been said, 2pts better than none.
  23. Last night he scored 16+1, but was leading another race before losing his steel shoe which threw him in all directions bar straight and finished last. Lovely style and has all the trademarks of going a long way.
  24. Have to admit, he was on it last night at SBA. If Devils can get Compton moving, could cause a few problems. Shame that Atkins is in 1-5 on a 3.5 average.
  25. Lovely weather here in City centre. Sat outside eating lunch. Going to be close, either way. Will be on 1st turn later.
