Sheffield Vs Redcar 02-04-15 Lc
IronScorpion replied to Tigerish's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Last year in one of the meetings v Scorpions, TJ got out of shape exiting bend 2, subsequently blocking Bates on the outside. The following lap, Bates just ran up the inside & into TJ taking them both down. -

It's a straight forward 3pts for home win. All other points scoring remains the same in EL & PL. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=78049&page=14 post #199 -
Sheffield Vs Scunthorpe Lc 26/03/2015

Ashley Holloway is the renown tuner for Emil when he rode in the GP's on big circuits. Sheffield has a similar sized track to the GP's so Ash will have the knowledge. "THE DEAL" being if he tunes 1 bike then they would pay the going rate. By tuning the whole team, you would pay a better DEAL. That's all that was meant, a discount! -

Just took it from his website. A general price without knowing "THE DEAL". http://www.ash-tech.pl/index.php/for-sale-prices -

If Ash-Tech have been sorting the engines for the team, only 1 engine per rider then that's an outlay of about £20,000 for used(20 heat) engines. -

I would, also, seem to agree though 3 riders do not make a team. A lack of practice will catch us out early doors as Sheffield have, as far as I know or been told, had closed door practices at the EWR & Owlerton & P&P. I have only seen Carl & Nike at open practice, David & Theo at our unofficial P&P, Alex & Ellis only just landing in our shores & Josh getting over his finger injury. That saying it seems Josh & Ellis had good 1st meetings for their other clubs last week. -
Birmingham Vs Cradley (ch) 18th March 2015
IronScorpion replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
As it's a challenge meeting, everyone needs the practice............even the referee! Check out the Official Referee Scorecard. http://www.speedwaygb.co/15results/birmingham_18.03.15_res.pdf Spot the mistake? Ht 12 Max Clegg disq.......................................... it was ht 11. He did not ride in 12. Oops -
Go to the Scorpion website http://scunthorpescorpions.co/ Two different hairstyles since we signed him. Which do you prefer?

It is ok looking good in practice, even some novices looked good but it is on a race prepared surface where I will reserve judgement. I spoke to Wilko about how his preparations were going & he said he is set up for the track but the set ups will be different when racing. I, also, expect he will look good today as he will, mainly, be the one in the dirt finding the quicker lines but it is all about learning the race craft & different racing lines. I will wait for the early evening replies.

With the promoters just having their seminar with the UK & I, even Rob is on tenterhooks as revealed in the telegraph so we, & the other teams, will have a quiet 4 weeks while we wait. Annoying, yes, but be patient. Is there any info from the meeting Wednesday night. I was 2/10 so could not attend.

Priority Over Double Up Riders 2015
IronScorpion replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This, in my opinion, is where the asset system is wrong. An EL club can sign or pay a fee & not ride for them for a rider where , for PL clubs, a rider has to have ridden 12 meetings. -
There was an issue, last year, with Ryan Fisher's family. If i remember right, she ran a restaurant or cafe & their kids went to local schools but her visa ran out & they had to move to Europe. Someone might correct me if the facts are not totaly correct but this is where living in Britain, paying taxes, schooling etc, does not guarentee not having problems with visas.

Also, at Scunny, bills get paid, wages get paid, no drama's. Most people earn a living so it's nice to be paid on time!

"rose tinted glasses" &"tunnel vision". June is right! How many posters are on our forum & how many on here, have stopped posting tells a story.

I disagree with the "value for money" perception as, to me, it's about the love of the sport. You can break down many other sports:- Football home games - 30 mins travel time, car park fees, queues at the turnstiles. A game lasts almost 2hrs which includes 1/2 time, injury time. During the game there is about 25min of ball out of play, numerous back passes/side passes forward passes & this is where it gets exciting of which there are about 20-25 shots at goal, of which 9-12 were on target. Cricket even greater travel times, queues, uncomfortable seats, 7hr match which includes 2 main breaks plus drink breaks, 90 overs of which there might be 8-16 wickets taken in a day, 20-25 shots to the boundary, runs between the wickets, etc All sports can be broken down to differing levels of enjoyment but what entertains some people does not entertain others. Our own sport comes into this category. Some tracks are not prepared for entertainment but just for winning, as also, is the making of teams. In the SS, G Patchett slates the Scunthorpe Management for assembling a joke of a team, far too low in team build up. We decided to join the league late, we did not have the pick of decent riders paying them over the stipulated wages to buy themselves better gear but brought together a bunch of youngsters who wanted to get on the first step of the racing ladder, to see if they could make it. Yes, we did get hammered in a lot of meetings where promoters had to pay out larger sums to their riders, but looking at the statistics for Cradley, their worst home defeat in 2014 was ....oops, they didn't have one. Their worst home result was a 57-35 win, a 22pt winning margin to another top of the table team. Away from home, their worst result was their only defeat, 43-46, again against Coventry. Win at all costs! No, not for me or for my fellow Scorpion supporters. We enjoy being entertained. Even our title winning teams in '06 & '07 were too strong & didn't entertain me.

With respect, I was not having a go at Rob & his team, as they do an excellent job in keeping Scunny at the top as in the past, the number of posts about our car park attendee, the stadium gradually maturing, track of the year numerous times & many more accolades. It was a fact that the track needed maintenance as it had been well used since we started & also with the drains at the entrances to bends 1 & 3. The work done, as I said in my previous point, was that the track became easier to ride.
-
I noticed, & so did many others, that the relaying of the track last winter made it easier to ride so opposing teams, also, had 3 or 4 riders that liked the wide line & not many "bottled it" or got into trouble. This is where, i think, our riders need to be out there early riding a freshly laid track & not a "blue line" practice track. The "blue line" rarely appears on a race night so why do you need a set up for one. They need to get out there in the deep stuff & also practice cut backs to find a quick line that might make a difference on a race night. As we have lost around 200 supporters in the last 3 years through one thing & another(change of race days, shift workers making only 1 meeting every fortnight, double headers with many leaving after the Scorpions meeting & not wanting to see a 1 sided Stags meeting, although it was good to see them progress trough the year, they were sacrificial lambs to the slaughter), entertainment is not everything. Sport is about winning, as proven with the SPOTY result on sunday.

Hi guys & gals. Look when I posted this on the Scorpions thread. I saw the opportunity, others must have, also. Members 428 posts 0 warning points Posted 24 November 2014 - 02:44 PM Would Rob drop David now that he has got the no1 spot back? mmm, not too sure "howe" Rob thinks but it could make people up their game, which includes Josh, with the move to EL Fast Track, sure to help him. Another topic on the threads being the EL to PL conversion being dropped from 1.6 to 1.4. Rob, also, is basing his team on entertainment where wins might not come easy. Too many like our easy track & we struggle on the tight ones. 2015: R Worrall 7.32 D Howe 7.29 J Auty 7.04 R Douglas 6.73 N Lunna 5.00 MPT 4.92 E Perks 3.00 Note; Worrall & MPT could, also, be back at Belle Vue which could rule 1 of them out if Cookie is still there. MPT I have craftily put in the team NOT on his EL converted CMA of 7.28 but he still has a PL CMA from 2013 of 4.92 riding for Plymouth. I don't know if you can carry it for 2 years but worth a try. There's always corners to be cut somewhere.

Howe @ 7.50. Cheers Rob ...Forgot to update to end of season averages. Islander15. From what I have found http://www.speedwayresults.com/rider.php?name=Alex&surname=Davies&season=2013 Alex did not score most of his points at home. Yes he scored well but similar to ours last year, home riders took points off each other but he consistently scored away between 5 & 8 & I would be happy with that again. 4 bikes to set up, probably 2 for Scunny, which should be similar to Somerset & 2 for other tracks, to me, seems well set up for the upcoming season. Someone down south has missed out!!!!
-
Howe, Auty, Douglas, Wilko, & here is a surprise, Alex Davies. did not ride in 2014 because of visa problems but VERY good rider home & away, Lunna & Perks. This could be the link with Poole as he signed a contract.(it's easier in EL to be an asset & not ride whereas in the PL you have to ride 6H & 6A meetings, unless it has changed, to be an asset. In our telegraph,it says Howe is still no1 yet Davies CMA from 2013 is 7.38. Does he get a reduction as having not ridden for a year as I thought that was applied thro injury.

And you're, normally, IN with the in crowd, eh Paul!

Cheers Shrimmy, not seen that as keeping my eyes on Somerset, Ippo & Peterboro threads. Damn. On Ippo thread, someone has posted Worrall going back to where he was before Ippo! Newcastle, Scorpions. We'll see Thursday.

Note 2; If no R Worrall & an old favourite coming back, could it be Maggs at 8.40 could be high but his CMA would drop as, I think, he would be easily overtaken on the outside. Another could be Morris at 8.14 & would score away points. Morris is my no1 option.
