  1. Arlington is only a mile from the nearest bus stop. Kent a mile and a half from the station. Foxhall under a mile from the nearest bus stop. Perry Barr less than half a mile from the station. Monmore Green a quarter of a mile from a bus stop. The last 2 both have cheap Advance rail fares & reasonable return train times.
  2. An interesting paragraph in the programme introduction to today's Firecracker XXVII; "So what next? Well, Arena Essex is not likely to be built over due to the very reason why it was deemed suitable to have a racing circuit built on it in the first place*. That much hasn't changed. There may be racing here in the future, but Promotasport will probably not be involved. The only thing I can say about that is to watch this space!" * A reference earlier in the article to it being built on gravel pits. A few people turned up today.
  3. BMR are affiliated to the MC Federation (MCF) who licence their flat track series and many off road events as an alternative to the ACU. They were going to be the authorising body for the 'breakaway' individual series to be run by ?the Courtneys? a few years back but the SCB/BSPA managed to get that blocked. Maybe time for another try at shaking things up?
  4. As I understand it, a Tier 2 visa is valid for a maximum of 3 years but if the rider fails to meet the required standard when it expires then they have to take a year out. If they finish a season within the 3 years but their average is too low, then I believe they can re-qualify via the state or national championship route, which is top 4 BTW. A Tier 5 visa is only valid for 1 year so I think the only option in that case is a year out.
  5. Not in the NL. Riders can miss a meeting for any reason but there was always the opportunity for abuse some day.
  6. The Compound is accessed from the Paddock so that pretty much says it's the dogs' area.
  7. It's the top item on this page; https://pa1.swindon.gov.uk/publicaccess/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=P23E0APTKAM00
  8. Any proof that KL drove the decision or just the usual Poole spin? I've pointed out that it was the SCB & BSPA that covered for their original incompetence in failing to frame the rules correctly by breaking them and encouraging both teams and the referee to do so.
  9. You didn't, but did say they ignored the rules and they didn't do that either.
  10. Anyone (and that should be everyone) who believes that the rule book is there for a reason. Golden Heats is the only option .
  11. After skirting around the fringes for so long, it's good to see you come out and gain full membership of the Pirates Liars' Club.
  12. There's no date restriction but there's no mention of golden heats in the CL Shield playoffs and the only NL competition that has them is the KO Cup.
  13. Own up. Who lost the notebook with the guaranteed race winning bike setups?
  14. ...who have very recently colluded with other parties to break their own rules.
  15. This forum is a constant reminder that many supporters' suggestions are an affront to many other supporters.
  16. From Alan Robertson's excellent "History of British Speedway Leagues 1991-2014" 1994 is League only, 1995 is League & KO Cup.
  17. It's a top 4 finish that qualifies for a visa and after this weekend's Victorian meeting there are Queensland, SA, WA and Campton's home NSW championship.
  18. The projected result according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern-Jones method is Lakeside 65 - 24.11 Peterborough. Unfortunately this is being disputed by those using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern-Rathbone method which scores it 39-49*. To be serious though, one idea that could be borrowed from cricket is not to re-stage uncompleted meetings but award a point to each team for a No Result. It would cut out all the squabbling over dates and rider availability and encourage completion of some questionably abandoned meetings to gain extra points. * The D-L-S-R method reinstates Wilkinson in heat 9 as compensation for the floodlight failure.
  19. It's 7 for the CL and 6.25 for the PL, which he's above. They shouldn't even have to break a rule for him... If not then he's got the NSW, Queensland, SA & WA Championships plus the nationals. If all else fails he can pop over to NZ and win that one.
  20. The PL threshold is 6.25 and his GSA is 6.57 so he should be OK. That's the Victoria State Championships although he's a NSW rider so I don't know how that works. The national championships aren't until 3rd-12th January.
