  1. A press release just issued on the visa situation: To Declare or Not to Declare? Not surprisingly, the rejection of Tyson Nelson’s visa application and the subsequent drafting in of Mathieu Trésarrieu as a Silver Ski Rocket has provoked a number of supporter comments on public forums. One that has surfaced makes the argument that teams should not declare a rider’s inclusion in their new season line-ups until the necessary paperwork is fully in place. This is, after all, the second time in two years that the Rockets have been burned, and the second time that Nelson has been ruled out of action. Is this a fair point? Is there a raising of false hopes? Rye House promoter Len Silver gives his own views here, and also provides details of just what is involved in the rider visa process in order to help clear up possible misconceptions. And it is more detailed than you might think. Silver starts at the beginning. “Before leaving the UK to return to Australia at the end of last season, Tyson had in his possession all the paperwork necessary for the issue of a working visa. This included the Rye House registration for overseas sports persons' sponsorship, issued by the UK Border Agency and fully paid up. “There was also an official document from the BSPA authorising Tyson's acceptance as part of the Rye House team, plus a personal contract issued by Rye House Speedway giving details of earnings, living accommodation and other items as required by the British authorities for overseas workers. “Back in Australia, Tyson had in place all the requirements necessary for the issue of a visa, which is in contrast to the first occasion he was refused, when some of the requirements were slightly wrong. “So we had no reason to think that it was anything more than a "rubber stamp" issue. We were not informed of a new edict issued from the Australian side which stated that there must be a twelve month gap between trips to UK under that particular sponsorship scheme. “A number of British promoters have been caught by the same issue, and some of the individual riders involved also have other items which have affected their visas, several of which have never been an effective item previously. “At what point do you communicate your plans publically to your supporters? Do you leave a “tbc” in your line-up for what could potentially be a 2-3 month period when you don’t envisage a problem and have no reason to envisage one? “I’m convinced we took the right approach on that.”
  2. Once the Morris "will he, won't he?" situation is sorted, those of us outside Somerset await the denouement of the Kurtz average fiasco. Has it been funny handshakes all round and say no more, or will we see a team or teams riding under protest until justice is done?
  3. So you're not in favour of 2nd and 3rd placed riders getting points then?
  4. For once, it's not the BSPA 's fault. The PL' s decision to opt out of the rider development/cost cutting scheme means that it's their own fault that they're on the outside looking in at rider availability.
  5. Also, well done to Rye House reject Kurt Shields who also qualified with a creditable 10 points, including a tapes exclusion, after only 20 minutes notice of promotion from reserve.
  6. Ah, I see! I think it would have been mentioned if it was. Pity, I used to enjoy the Easter Triangle against Mildenhall and/or Peterborough and/or Ipswich. Team racing with team racing, rather than the 4s format.
  7. It's almost impossible to sign 2 contracts at the same time and totally impossible to ride the first match for each team at the same time. (I'm just trying to be patronising, no smiley used or implied.)
  8. As SCB explained, the team he's been contracted to for the longer time.
  9. Tyson Nelson, Luke Bowen, Marc Owen & Chris Mills
  10. Len Silver was asking for sponsorship to fund the Raiders which I guess didn't happen. Crowds would never be enough to pay their way and any spare change will have gone into buying the air fence. Maybe if someone feels generous in the near future then the January 31st deadline given to IOW will be extended to new entries.
  11. If you consider your experience on the subject equates to a lack of research then feel free to be offended. I think we're still in an interim period where APBs are considered to be an accessory rather than an integral part of the structure with promoters/curators reluctant to compromise their precious track surface. I can't see any reason why in the future your idea couldn't be implemented, given enough space, outside the confines of the track itself.
  12. I bought a copy about 7/8 years ago from the online Sports Games Shop but unfortunately lost it and found it was discontinued. Prompted by your post I've just found out that they've republished it. They also still list the 2002 version of Speedway Promoter & Flying Shale for the PC, and Speedway Scene II, the dice & chart game which Flying Shale is based on. http://www.sportsgameshop.com/spd.html
  13. To anyone that's come into this thread with big ideas and no research, please have a look at the following before making yourselves look sillier than you already are; http://www.airfence.com/airfencespeedwayorig_safest.html http://www.airfence.com/pdf/as.pdf http://www.championproducts.info/TIBS_Manual_for_FIM_2.pdf http://www.championproducts.info/Polyfoam_Brochure.pdf
  14. Please add me to the list of people calling you a liar. Thank you.
  15. Er, 7.81. If you're confused by the ** a glance at the key at the top of the page will tell you that it's to show that the rider is listed in hierarchical order where riders have apparently the same average.
  16. Apart from a couple of riders, an uninspiring team, way under the limit. Did Len Silver have any input into team selection?
  17. No.1 at Scunthorpe. Good rider, good track, good luck.
  18. Claret's what you find on the pavement outside a Dorset pub after locally based speedway people have a night out.
  19. I hope Anders and a decent reserve are still available when Ed's average drops and Boxall goes missing. I'm afraid it's time for Ben to look elsewhere for his PL experience because it's obvious that Len is never going to trust him away from home.
