  1. It may have occurred without you noticing but I can only refer you to what I was told Life itself is a fantasy that most persist with
  2. I was told otherwise and those we spoke to came back and apologised as they found it to be true. Why would they do that if that was not so? Surely they would have come back to us and explained the rules of speedway in all their pristine simplicity, to those who did not understand? I am sure you would agree that most people would wish to enlighten those who did not know, as they do all the time on this speedway forum?
  3. I never understood most of them but has it is 40 years ago and all those involved in the conversation - which did happen otherwise why say it did - are deceased, therefore, I am afraid I can't get the detail for you.
  4. We told the person '15 races, 2 riders from each side, 3pts for 1st, 2 for 2nd etc'. But they wanted to know the deeper intricate down home country rules - which you perfectly understood - and we told them not to worry about them as they change them every other week.
  5. Many years ago back at the old shay stadium a man and a woman approached us and told us they were new to speedway and wanted to know the rules. We told them not to worry about the rules as they change them every other week, just enjoy the racing. The couple looked at us and walked off disgruntled. A few weeks later they approached us again to apologise has they had found out that we were correct. From what I have experienced in speedway since I started watching the sport again in 2005 nothing has changed. In fact it is so much the norm now that I believe the whole membership of this hallowed forum would have a mass cardiac arrest if the rules applied were ever well thought out, correct in almost every instance and were adhered to from start to finish.
  6. A credit to speedway in every way. There is no doubt he would have been a top rider in whatever era of speedway.
  7. Saying speedway is a shambles is like saying the sea is full of water
  8. Means nothing to me as I don't know anything about American basketball
  9. My point is that Poland will dominate permanently because no other nation, in this day and age, has the interest, motivation or financial clout to bring themselves to the level required to win this competition.
  10. As the World Cup as become a pointless exercise maybe the trophy should be awarded to Poland permanently and the competition discontinued as was the Worlds Best Pairs competion.
  11. I don't think I ever met Bryn but from what I know of him he was a noble gentleman
  12. If you want from it what is in it you will love it. If you don't you won't
  13. It should be open to all comers with 32 riders competing in the GP's riding 6 GPs each. 12 GPs altogether I call it has a I see it we all have our opinions
  14. Maybe it's to deflect the conversation from the job in hand re Belle Vue and begin a debate about the Olympic stadium and the West Ham connection. You're right you can work it out if you really try.
  15. The SGP is a closed shop peopled by the same tedious faces resulting in a tedious competition with few saving graces
  16. Peter Karlsson would have been a top rider in any speedway era between 1928 and 2016
  17. As Nicki is not available for castigation purposes Freddie Lindgren has been 'nominated' as 'rider replacement' till Nicki is fully fit and ready for castigation in next years GP.
  18. Jerzy was a top man. Deserved to be World Champion. Ivan said he won it fair and square and many will tell you there is no greater authority than Ivan, when it comes to world championships and the winning of!!! Jerzy's problem was he won it but it was supposed to be Zenon who was expected to win it but he didn't, Jerzy did. As a result, Jerzy was expected to turn into the 'greatest rider that ever lived' to justify his status as a World Champion. No other rider was expected to turn into the greatest rider that ever lived to justify their status as World Champion, but Jerzy was because he shouldn't have won it in the first place. It's all a bit like voting for Brexit and justifying having done so, when you think about it, ain't ????
  19. Perhaps they realised it was going to be tedious and predictable and therefore didn't bother Stayed at home to watch Swedish Strictly Come Dancing with Tony Rickardsson
  20. heat 16 Sweet move by Holder Happy birthday to him. Happy birthday to me
