  1. Never mind about the stadium - look at the crowd! You can almost hear promoters all over the country sobbing....
  2. Thank you Rich. A more detailed and informative response, I'm glad to see that what you refer to as "negatives" were also taken on board - it wasn't clear from Superbart's comments whether or not they were going to be ignored. However, I am still narked and annoyed by the use of "that song". And no, I'm not a prude -I can swear and cuss with the rest of them - but not in front of kids. I don't buy into the "they hear worse at school" stuff either - just because they hear worse it doesn't make it alright to play it. I sincerely hope that this will not be repeated if you get the gig next year.
  3. I do beg your puddin'. I thought I was introduced tos omeone as Stevehone - it was so loud in the POW that I obviously didn't hear his "name" properly. Mind, I did start having my doubts when I saw something about your birthday and your age - the young whippersnapper I met definitely wasnt you!
  4. Been waiting 3 pages to gave that one answered. I could be being unfair, but I suspect only the "gosh, weren't it great" emails will find their way to IMG. It remains to be seen as to whether any of the constructive criticism that has been given is taken on board and used next year - if Superbart gets the gig again.
  5. So - will you actually be taking on any of the critical comments, or just basking inthe ones you like? Absolute rubbish. I made constructive comments. Superbart asked our opinions, I gave mine. You don't like it? That's your problem not mine. Hardly a new song - been out since about the 80's. Sung by a bloke called Ivor Biggun, who was a character called Doc Cox on That's Life. I could quote you the words, but this is a family forum. Doesn't make it right though.
  6. You had to go and do it, didn;t you? Shame me into trying to remember all the people I met yesterday: Paulco Merlin Rob Peasley London Witch (plus Hayley) FairyTasha Rhidassa Stevehone Panthersfan Reckless Eric Pinstripe NickiF Dorset Delight (of course) Badge Queen B 21stCenturyHeathen CrazySue Babe169 (or was it 691, 961 - I'm disnumerate, please forgive me!) Also I re-acquainted myself with: MattDavis (no shorts through) SilverBee Sandie SCB And the lovely Seb the Snail Sorry if I've missed any one!
  7. Maybe I should get hip, and get with it - and purchase myself a Chipper bike and decorate it with Bay City Rollers scarves then? Oooh and some platform boots, and a Salde record, and a Donny Osmond hat..... I think I'll just go and have a lie down now
  8. I was situated near to some fans that cheered everytime Nikki came off the bike, and shouted abuse at him when the referee made his decisions. Two Polish fans behind me shouted what I would consider the worst swear words in use at him when Rune Holta ran into the back of his bike, even threatening him. All this was in English. I for one applauded his efforts in removing his bike from the track having done a double somersault with a triple salkow along the home straight. Cheering when riders come off is, IMO, not acceptable. Cheering when they put the bike through the tapes, or have a puncture or some other such thing that does not have the potential to injure them, is. Booing a rider like Nikki P when he comes to the mic to be interviewed will only spur him on. I don't like Nikki P. I think he has crossed the line between what is hard riding and what is dangerous riding. But that doesn't mean I want to see him hurt. Love him or loathe him, you can never ignore him.
  9. Pehaps 'cos she'd have to know the words to mime to it? Because that's what she did for all but 2 of her songs. At least the chap who sang as well was singing live (well he can't be that bad and still be miming, can he?)
  10. What a great day - rubbish music aside for a moment. Met loads of forum members at the POW this year, but missed Shazzy! Next year perhaps?
  11. As you ask for opinions here is mine: I seem to be one of the few that thought the music wasn't as good as last year - the exception to this being the use of Land of Hope and Glory and the Proms music, which was quite frankly inspired. I didn't like the "theme" songs after each winner - Danny Kaye singing "Hans Christian Andersen" and Wonderful COpenhagen" left me cold. As did the Kaiser Chif's "Ruby" when Runa Holta won his heat, and the less said about the themes used for the Aussies the better. Just one question though - just exactly when did you decide that it was OK to play the Ivor Biggun song "I'm a W****r" in a stadium where children were present? I don't care who it was aimed at, it was not appropriate. I was absolutely appalled.
  12. The NCPs are all about £12 a day. You could go to the other, cheaper ones ,but they're further away and I'm never in the mood for walking back to the car after a night in Cardiff, don't know about you.
  13. This will be the first Cardiff without Mini BA since the first one, and will feel very strange. 15 is such a good age - old enough to do stuff on their own, but young enough to tell them what to do. I too have to work until 17:15 on Friday - after putting in a 07:15-17:15 day today. Life is sooooooooo unfair some times! Sill -not longnow!
  14. I always print my own - take 4 for the family and a couple of spares just in case. I've already printed some up for Mr Bobbin's mates who are going. It costs pence t oprint and pounds to buy.
  15. Everybody, but Mum's most of all, deserve days to themselves - me time. A time where you don't have to be someones Mum, wife etc. and can instead have a breather and just be someone's mate. I for one hope that the whole weekend is brilliant for you.
  16. I think the one your'e talking about is called the City Gate or City Arms. It's by the multi-storey carpark, and is right opposite what I would call the main entrance to the stadium and the pits entrance.
  17. Don't forget he also gets the freshy graded track for each of his heats as well.
  18. I think it's probably because it's quite dark under there. I've never felt claustrophobic in there, but I can see why someone might. And at least it's quicker to get out than on the top tiers.
  19. Over the years the Bobbin' family has sat top, middle and bottom tiers. Very top tier - only attempt if you don't get vertigo, or don't mind heights (I thought I was going to throw up every time I looked down). Middle - I found this fairly good viewing, but if you sit above bends 1-2, then it's very steep and the seats are a lot closer together. It's the one bit of the stadium left over from the old Cardiff Arms Park. You find other people's knees being pressed between your shoulder blades. Bottom tier - I'm quite tall, (5 ft 6) so I find absolutely no problem viewing. Apart from last year when I seemed to have the world's tallest man in front of me. And he kept standing up. Mother in law is tiny (just a fraction over 5 foot) and can see without having to keep standing up. She uses the screen that are all around the stadium to enable her to watch if necessary. But this isn't for everyone. I think it speaks volumes that we have sat on the lower tier 4 times and we've been going since the first year.
  20. I'm certainly looking forward to meeting you Shazzy.
  21. Maybe what I should have said is the biggest, loudest knot of women, stationary outside a pub, with drinks in their hands. I think that'd cover all eventualities. Not that there's anything wrong in a lesbian march - never knock what you haven't tried.
  22. Working on the assumption that where Sandie is, the centre of the party is, I'll just head for the biggest, loudest knot of women...
