  1. Young Josh Auty won the Jack young Cup in fine style its the firsttime I have seen this lad hes got a good future infront of him. Justin Sedgman jumped to anearly lead with Josh third rob Kiaseck in second Josh made a great move in turn 2 underneath both Rob and Justin to take the lead and was never challanaged . Great ride well done Sidecars final went to Mick Headland Darrin Treloar and Mark Mitchell Mark Plaisted finished third but was DQ for barging.
  2. Well caught up with Bryn and his mate huddeled together near the new wind break fence in wind rain and Gillman Cold (you know what I mean BFD) I hope this friday night Jack Young Cup will be better with a forcast temp of 33 c! From the Gillman web site' Solos and Sidecar share equal billing at the third meeting of the season at Gillman Speedway this FRIDAY NIGHT (4 December). Although the Jack Young Solo Cup is the feature event, with some of the World's best Sidecar riders again in action it is hard to argue the Sidecars will not be the main attraction. Leading the way will be FIM Track Racing World Champions Mick Headland and Paul Waters, five-times Australian Champion Darrin Treloar from Sydney, and his Adelaide-based passenger Justin Plaisted, current Australian Champions Mark Mitchell and Tom Golding, Mark Plaisted and Sam Harrison, Trent and Jesse Headland and Mildura's Byren Gates/Michael O'Loughlin who will compete in a series of Sidecar Stars' Scratch Races with a final for the top four point scorers. However, there will also be a further 8 Sidecar races for the support riders who will be out to press their claims for a berth in the South Australian Sidecar Championship which will be held at Gillman at the end of the month. The Jack Young Solo Cup will be contested by twelve riders over twelve heats, plus a final for the highest three point scorers and the winner of a semi-final for the next four highest scorers. On first glance the favourites appear to be the local rider Robert Ksiezak, Merbein's Justin Sedgmen, and Englishman Josh Auty. 22-year-old Ksiezak is a past winner (in 2006) of this event and looked sharp in his first up meeting here last Saturday night, despite the wet track. Likewise Sedgmen was in fine form with an unbeaten run at the opening meeting and despite being only 17, he has a proven record here having won the Golden Helmet meeting in his senior debut twelve months ago. Another rider who performed well in the Golden Helmet was Shepparton's Jake Anderson who was runner-up to Sedgmen, so he'll fancy his chances of at least a final berth. We are without the defending Cup holder, Aaron Summers, this year as he has decided to brave the ice and snow of a Scottish winter instead of returning home, but we do have last year's runner-up Arlo Bugeja, and like Anderson he must fancy his chances of reaching the final four. But the rider they might all have to beat is the Englishman Josh Auty. Although he has only just turned 19 and is on his first visit to Australia, the teenager from Mirfield in West Yorkshire has been cleaning up in Queensland in recent weeks including victory in the Queensland Under 21 Championship. Auty was the British Under-15 Champion in 2004 and 2005, and then as a senior rider he won the Conference League Championship with Scunthorpe in 2006 and 7. He now rides with Premier League Sheffield and doubles-up with Elite League Coventry. There will also be events for Under 16 350cc Solo riders, featuring Arthur Sissis, Robert Medson and Victorians Sam Anderson and Braydon Munro; plus 125cc Junior Solos and 250cc Junior Sidecars on the infield track. Two of Jack Young's fully restored bikes from the 1940s will also be on display in the pit area. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and racing will start at 7.30 p.m. Admission is Adults: $20, Age Concession: $15, Student Concession: $10, Children aged 10-12: $5, Children Under 10: free, Family (2 Adults and 2 Children): $45, Programme $5. Full bar and catering available. Gillman Speedway is located on Wilkins Road, Gillman. The full list of entrants is: Solos (14 events) Josh Auty (England), Justin Sedgmen, Jake Anderson, Ryan Sedgmen and Mitch Goodwin (Victoria), Damien Koppe (Queensland), Samsurray Pigram (Western Australia), and Robert Ksiezak, Arlo Bugeja, Robert Branford, Ben Turner, Ben Hatcliffe, Adam Briggs and Damon Whelan (SA). Hatcliffe, Briggs and Whelan will contest a Qualifying race for the final place in the 12-rider line-up. 3. Thanks BFD ,To say last Saturday night at Gillman was hot would be an understatement no drugie shirts needed. I was in the pits so missed out on some of the racing but yes the Solos were good entertainment. Ronny Parkers night started slowly with the motor running flat it almost went back on the trailler , but after his mechanic(me LOL) played with it I managed to convince him to try it out again. The Princes luck came good, not the motor but others dropping out and with a flat motor he rode briliantly and manged 3/ 1sts to get into the final. Mick headland gated well but broke somthing in the divetrain and coasted to a stop. Beau Irwin got a win with Ronny close 1n second. Unfortunatly there is some major engine damage and Team Parker is out for at least a month.
  4. RIP Eric and thanks Ross for the work you have done a great read on what was an" Interesting life".

  10. Nothing much Chopper! Just making the point that the young Solo riders are going over to the UK at a younger and younger age and good on them, but us loyal fans in Ozz who stand though artic conditions ( I am sure you will remmember THAT night at the sidewinders track BFD!) to watch the youngsters miss out seeing them ride(demo) the 500s. Have to accept the fact I may never see this lad ride a 500 Solo if he sticks with road racing!
  11. This is the one problem with the jouinor system in Aust I have watched Aurthur since he was 10 years old but may never see him ride a 500, as you are not allowed to ride a 500 untill you turn 16! Lets hope and pray he sticks with speedway.

Well done to Mark Mitchell and Tom Golding. What a wonderful achievement from a family that has done a lot more for speedway than most people realise. I agree with all the comments on here about Treloars behaviour disappointing to say the least. Here goes: Mitchell gated superbly with Treloar Christopher and Howse all together. Coming out of turn 4 Treloar gets underneath Mitchell side by side touching as they crossed the start finish line.Turn 3 Treloar holds the pole line On his outside Mitchell up in the dirt gets driven wide by Treloar and crosses up more than he wanted to. Treloar is gone . Mitchell high near the fence straightens up and struggles to hold it straight , with Tom in the chair leaning to the left of the rider. (If Christopher had not have hit Mitchell i think he would have just gone infield or very tight into turn 3.) So Mitchell was up high, Christopher kept low and gunned it they clashed hard. Tom was thrown off the sidecar, and both went infield. Red light. Christopher came up to the pit gate the fairing was damaged and the sidecar frame bent obstructing the chair wheel the pit crew desperately working with tyre levers to bend the frame back The yellow (Christopher)exclusion light came on. The crowd booed with disbelief and of course Scotty and his crew went berserk. Meanwhile Mark and Tom stopped on the other side of the track, and Mark was limping around checking the bike over. Scotty jumped on the pit phone GP style and was trying to make his point. BJ on the centre green was trying to calm people as chants of Bulls#t Bullsh#t rang thought the air! The big screen played the incident again witch kept the cheers of Bulls#t Bullsh#t going longer. Even a certain injured sidecar rider was waving his walking stick around dangoursly whilst trying to climb the fence! Eventually the Qlders wheeled the bike away in disgust. At the start it was Mitchell Treloar and Howse after the 3 wide scuffle into turn one Mitchell was first followed by Treloar. Howse copped and face full of dirt and fell back.Treloar attacked Mitchell but Mitchell covered all Treloars moves and Mark Mitchell and Tom Golding are the new AUST 1! Any one else there saw it differently I would love to know as I have not seen a video just what was shown at the track. __________________ the older i get the faster i was
