  2. Sorry guys my spelling at 3am is not the best but Iam sure you could work it out!
  3. Rory Schlien wins South Aust tile at Gillman.
  4. Harry Denton and Len Bowes two South Australian Sidecar riders visited England in 1963 and again in 1965. They both rode Vincents and demonstrated sidecar racing Aussie style. There passengers were Dave Mills and Roy Trigg i dont think they were Aussies any one remmber the vist? They raced at Rye House and the Firs.
  5. No Mate, After reading the last couple of posts I can understand your comments (we dont have teams racing over here I wish we did but not enough numbers distances ect prevent it). But I still think sidecars at the end of each solo round or after every 4th solo race would attract more people ect. Sidecars over here pull the same or dare i say it bigger crowds than solos. Now I will admit I have never even seen a English teams meeting live so it only a suggestion. It would take a brave promoter to try it. But this day and age the paying public expect more and more for their entertainment dollor sorry Pound! Its just that New things need to be trialed. Gillman South Aust have introduced 250cc go carts I hate the things, but it introduces people to the solos and sidecars that normally would not attend speedway. Any way its only a suggestion.
  6. Well Mylor with that way of thinking I can see why british speedway is in Trouble.
  7. Mabe I will expand my point about sidecars Variity is the spice of life, here in Ozz one of the best tracks around run All classes including cars. I understand in England each team has its own track. How about a teams meet with 8 top sidecars to race inbetween teams racing. It brings more people to the meet and exposes them to the teams racing as well.
  8. Just a question from ozz do they race sidecars at teams meetings if not why not?
  9. Nathan Simpson won 3 outof 3 races at Murray Bridge South Aust last weekend! in his V6 Sprint car.
  10. Good to see Nathan still has fans over in England, I called into see him as I havent seen him myself for a while. I first met Nathan when he started senior Solos at the age of 17 I was a 22 year old sidecar rider at the time. thats (22 years ago) We were going to Renmark a SA country track and Nathen did dot have a car it was his first senior meet. We put his bike on our trailer and away we went 3 sidecar outfits and young Nathen. The trip was vey event full to say the least women, beer and racing. I cant go into any more detail as this is a g rated fourm!! Needless to say Nathen learnt a lot that weekend not just about racing !!! He still talks about it to this day.
  11. In the early days in Australia, I belive it started in 1926 the promotors gave each rider a coloured vest jockey style to identify the the riders they kept to that coulor all season. But as numbers grew it got difficult as there were up to 100 bikes at a meet. So I am guessing here some one came up with the START colour idea.
  12. Nathan is a good mate of mine here in Adelaide South Aust he now runs and owns a crash repair shop in Adelaide he raced solos up untill a couple of years ago at our local track Gillman but had a injury to his shoulder and quit. He now has a v 6 sprint car and is doing very well on the country circuts of SA.
  13. 30,000 for an Aussie meeting was good I dont know crowd figures for a normal Grand Prix over in europe . The costs involved in getting everyone and bikes ect would be huge. I get the feeling it will be a long time before any promoter will stick his/her neck out again. The only way to justify it would to be have two rounds maybe New Zeland as well but its not going to happen for a while. PS bikes in Perth are in a slump lack of places to ride but eastern states are holding there own. Side cars seem to be hot.
  14. I am doing research into The first club owned speedway in Aust Smithfield South Aust. At the first meeting October 16th 1926 a E W GRAY won the hearts of the spepctators ,and won the William Coward Cup. Ge rode a Levis two-stroke. As a sideline project I am trying to trace the life of this fellow I wonder if he went onto bigger and better things. Anyone know the name?????????
