  1. Hard to tell without seeing any other teams really. Would always have strong reserves but heats 13 and 15 may be a worry. Would be happy enough if that was the team though.
  2. A shame to see Danny leave - almost as much for his off track/mentoring with some of the younger riders. Hope he gets fixed up somewhere. Would love to see if we could build a team to keep Pijper/Scott at reserve (if we can entice Scott to stay). Would mean a slightly weaker main body but would always leave us with good reserves.
  3. I didnt really get chance to see mush of the Tigers this year unfortunately, different days and times always seemed to clash with other plans. Southwick certainly looks a prospect and Norman has like you said rode well round Redcar for what feels like years already. Feels like a big problem is lack of track time/meetings at this level. Must be hard to get any real momentum. And second halves seem to have dried up a bit. Really hope the Tigers come back to the tapes again next season - I would prefer the empty Fridays in the Bears schedule to be filled by Tigers meetings but I understand the reasons why this was changed.
  4. Think it's more based on the number of decent guest appearances towards the end of the season, plus the fact he is based very locally.
  5. A super year for the Bears, would live to keep the same six to be fair. Think we will start with Wright, Pijper, Mulford and Edwards. Would love Scott back but sneaky feeling he will be back at Oxford. Would not be a huge surprise to see Allen here. Feels like whatever happens though, the promotion will put a strong team together.
  6. I'd be stunned if Ace was not at Redcar again, but I guess you never know!
  7. Yeah, a few decent races but mainly from the gate. Leon Flint did comment afterwards it was a shame there hasn't been much dirt the last few weeks. Pretty clear it's not enough, but still nice to end with a home win. Didn't feel like anyone was really excellent or really poor for either side really. A touch surprised King was not in 15 but Edwards had been doing well after a poor first ride.
  8. A supporter (at least 1) was definitely hit.
  9. Meeting abandoned, Allen's bike went into the crowd. Very best wishes to the three injured supporters. Nothing else really matters at this point - was not nice to see. Absolutely no fault apportioned to Allen, BTW.
  10. Have to hand it to Poole - they are relentless. Lawson never looked like being beat, Kerr and Cook excellent as always and everyone else chipped in. Another frustrating night for the Bears - Pijper was excellent in his first two. Not seen the incident and did not have a great view but looked very much a racing incident to me. Pijper kept going round the outside when it didnt look like there was too much room - nasty looking spill though and glad he got up ok. Not sure if i would prefer we lost to Glasgow on Sunday so we don't have to face Poole again
  11. Feels like a pretty impossible task - but I am hopeful of at least a good meeting. I think Flint and Trigger are decent picks. If we somehow come out and hit a couple of early heat advantages then you never know, but I think the focus just has to be on winning the meeting itself which will be tough enough. A bit of the shame how the season has ended for us, but still a chance of picking up at least 1 trophy.
  12. Had a bit of everything that. Didn't really see what happened with Wright and Allen, but it got the whole place really rocking! We need more of that. Pijper was superb - quick from the gate, and when he missed it was able to make passes. Everyone else was really solid. Was impressed with Harrison for Scunny, but sad to see the demise of Worrall and Lambert who are normally good for big points here. Feels like they need to rip it up and start again with Harrison as a starting point.
  13. Such a huge shame for Plymouth to lose Barker and Thompson so early. Thought Plymouth battled hard in the circumstances, but was a mountain to climb. Thought Pijper was going to geky unlucky tonight, not sure I have seen someone ride so hard for so few points.
  14. Confirmed by Jamie tonight we had agreed terms but could not get a visa sorted in time. Intrigued to find out who. On another note, heat 15 tonight was just fantastic speedway.
  15. Congrats to Glasgow tonight, won the meeting in the first half really. I just love watching Bomber, made the gate a few too many times tonight! Nagels was excellent, and Flint had a couple of cracking rides. Bit flat from the Bears though - even in the crowd before the meeting you had the feeling everyone expected a defeat. Everyone was a bit up and down really - Edwards improved as the meeting went on. Interesting to see Wright out practicing after the second half. Feels like we can't be dropping any more points if we want the playoffs.
  16. Thoroughly enjoyed that meeting, most in a long while. Not just because we finally beat Poole - some great racing from both sides, close meeting and a great atmosphere. Wright and King were as you would expect Edwards ride in heat 5 I think it was worth the admission alone i thought. Vuolas with a great heat 14 but obviously not the same return as you would get from Riss. Pijper was excellent and battled hard for his points and Scott was always there or thereabouts. Poor start to the meeting from Lawson which is unusual, Kerr looked good until his EF which was pretty crucial on the night. Starke was decent and Cairns was never off the pace but was on the end of a couple of hard first bends. Not sure how it came across on BSN but good advert for the sport I felt.
  17. Looking forward to hopefully a good (and warm) meeting! Edwards is a huge loss as was having a really good year - but Zischke is a decent guest. I do feel him and Mulford will be key. Loftus looked ok at the weekend, especially if he gated but looked a bit more tentative in traffic. Hopefully Pijper can keep his form from the weekend going as was excellent. Will go for a home win, but could be close.
  18. Hard to tell from last week whether it was Redcar were good or Scunthorpe were not. I would expect Rowe to still score well but maybe not as well as Riss. Key will be the middle order/reserves again. Last week Edwards/Mulford/Pijper were excellent - same again and should be a Bears win.
  19. Actually a decent meeting in front of a very healthy looking crowd with a good number of Diamonds fans. Wright never really looked like being beat. King also looked excellent but Edwards was the pick of the Bears for me. Quick and more aggressive than last season. Reserves battled and both had decent rides without impressing too much. Lambert is always good value around here along with Kerr, but Worrall won't have many meetings like that. Enjoyable night all round.
  20. Both Pijpers, Spencer, Phillips, Halder, Rathbone and Ward.
  21. Guess we will know more over the next few days once other teams announce announce riders.
  22. Would be very very surprised if no Mulford but who knows at this point!
  23. Would be interesting to see the team of no King. Would love Riss back, but not sure he would want to commit to a full season of Championship again? Doesn't leave many other heatleaders though.
  24. I would count Wright, Edwards and Mulford as nailed on for next season. Would love to see Riss back, but not sure he will fancy a full Championship season again. Hume was excellent in his last visit to Redcar, and if you could get Gilkes as a second string I think he would be fine. Intrigued by the mention of Pearson above - from memory he has done ok round Redcar in the past and certainly has potential. In short, I have no idea.
  25. A meeting that summed the season up really. Fair play to Oxford and Boughen in particular. A special talent who seems to love riding here (and had his first second half rides here I believe). Interesting to see where the Bears go from here really - id potentially start with Wright, Edwards and Mulford and work from there. Should be an interesting winter.
