  1. Unless they've changed the rules again (which would be good in this case), those riders are not eligible for the Championship. Victimisation when you can have higher averaged PL riders such as Cook, Morris and Harris in the CL.
  2. So GP rider Cook could do CL in 2018 and we know Morris & Harris also. Sounds like a great reward for the man given the outstanding contribution to British Speedway award this year. Sometimes the BSPA are astounding in their ineptness, this is British Speedway, start supporting British riders
  3. No I wouldn't. I want to see close meetings, not one sided processions.
  4. Have you read the last two pages? The thread seems to have been hijacked by the 1 over 8 is rubbish brigade (most of whom don't appear to be Rye House fans).
  5. Or maybe that they make proposals and vote yes or no much like other committees - much of their decisions for their own club will be revenue based and I don't know all the details of the proposals, alternatives that were discussed and not put forward or how all clubs voted. It's no good having sides that wallop others as this creates little spectacle and makes for rubbish TV so they have to try to equalise team strengths. The points limit is one way to do it, rider grading is another - as ever there'll be winners and losers and those who make the best changes as the season progresses will be the most successful. If we had the Polish rules in the UK, which some have suggested, a team could be Woffinden, Cook, Dudek, Doyle, Lindgren, Lambert and Bewley. Would that make for good league speedway in the UK, no, because not many others could afford a team like that.
  6. Did I miss the news about the TV deal - I thought that was the main topic of discussion at the AGM? It's important because that's the only way I'll get to see any Premiership next year, now they're all Mon & Weds.
  7. Not too much change this time around. Most significant for me is the fixed nights. That ends my planned trips to Rye House, Belle Vue and Somerset for next season. I think it will be a Championship year for me, especially with the doubling down making it likely that there will be some good riders on show. Shame they've done nothing about the tail end of Championship teams - last year led to really strung out races.
  8. Some excellent ideas here, shame you are not a promoter!
  9. Yes, but they would fear not making it through the challenge. I think Holder would have struggled and a year out of the GPs should have been what happened. I also don't see why 9th place gets a pick every year - just make it the top nine then rather than pretend there's any risk. I found the GPs to be the most boring they've ever been this season but lots of people seem to like it. Watching the Championship playoffs and KO cups was much more interesting.
  10. This is becoming a bit to frequent to avoid the suspicion that Cook is simply picking and choosing his meetings, avoiding those he doesn't fancy.
  11. Where do they say the abuse has come from Leicester or Sheffield fans?
  12. My Mum used to say "sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me". Unfortunately, social media lends itself to anonymous barracking like never before. Leicester should be pleased they have managed to secure their place in the Premiership - it went their way last night and all those conspiracy theorists out there were no doubt waiting for a different result to add weight to their argument. It's a sport and the best team won.
  13. The difference that showed was that the Leicester riders were nearly always at the first bend in front and this is the principle difference between the leagues in my view. Passing was definitely at a premium though and when a Sheffield rider gated they also did well. Well done to Leicester - is Sheffield always a gate and go place?
  14. I think Rye House may want to hang onto their captain! Fixed race nights, if stuck to, may lead to even bigger gaps in the fixture list ro a reduced number of meetings. Not sure Ipswich would fancy either.
  15. What did you expect?? Some races were strung out and there's always the issue of top boys way ahead of wobblers but the suspense and drama of the meeting kept me captivated. There was also a decent amount of close racing and passing - I especially liked the playing to the crowd in Ht 13 when Nicholls was passed and then got back by both King and Schlein turning his head to look at them on several occasions, a pantomime villain indeed. For Ipswich, Newman's crash ended it for them but Heeps was the star of the show. King was a bit one line only and should have done better, same with Schlein but hey, they were the league leaders for a reason. Wonder if CL has emerged from his counting house yet
  16. Ask Chris Louis, who had his career ended by avoiding an 'out of control' Lewis Bridger and running into said dire consequences.
  17. I thought the NL was for up and coming riders, a couple of seasons max before moving on. The third division in Britain has never been a professional league i.e. earning a wage.
  18. So people are thinking about somebody with the surname Brundle. Don't know anything about their family apart from motorsport and car dealers. Would be a good boost for Lynn
  19. This should be a comfortable Belle Vue win. I am not a fan of either team so I'm not playing any "we're the underdogs/NO we're the underdogs" game. They have the capability at home, without Fricke, to win easily. Masters has been poor recently but that's the only possible light for Wolves - if he produces good points they could progress but on the balance of probabilities I side with BV.
  20. No, you're not the only one, I posted as much earlier on the BV vs Wolves thread.
  21. Belle Vue have a great chance but all the pressure will be on them. If Masters can buck up then Wolves still have a chance. Lindgren needs to max really. Regarding the Tungate/Thorsell crash, Tungate was a bit hairy in other rides but in this one he didn't have a lot of choice in my view as JT was locking up to exit the corner.
  22. I enjoyed watching the play offs last night. I disagree completely with people blaming the tracks - sorts the skilled riders out from the rest.
