  1. Newcastle Steve Worrall Lewis Kerr Christian Henry Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Lewis Rose Simon Neilsen Workington 1. Kenneth Hansen 2. Ricky Wells 3. Rene Bach 4. Rusty Harrison 5. Kyle Howarth 6. Nicki Barrett 7. Nathan Greaves Hopefully the weather will allow this meeting to proceed after the previous weeks rain off against Berwick. Is it just me or is every Premier League team looking strong? Our lads will have to pick up their skirts and run like mad to beat Workington and the rest! The most encouraging thing from the defeat up at Berwick was Steve Worrall's two heat wins. Keep that up Steve and the number 1 jacket is in good hands. Does anyone know whether Kenneth Hansen will be riding or will the comets be using R/R ?
  2. Great Tourettes, The sun is shining on Tyneside too, we hope it will be the same tomorrow for the 2nd leg. If the weather stays kind tonight we should be in for a great opener
  3. Are you talking about Berwick reserve Matic Voldrih? Is he one to watch? Great for Berwick if they have a prospect starting at reserve, looking forward to seeing him
  4. I notice our Kings Lynn rider Lewis Kerr had a good night down at Poole scoring 9 points. I began thinking about our other riders. Can anyone say which Elite teams any of our other riders are signed up with. I seem to remember Steve was riding for Swindon in 2014. Was that correct and is he continuing with the Robins this year? Give us a B. R. O. U. G. H Brough!!! anyone remember that apart from me and Barry Wallace!!
  5. Decided against going to this one, not going to Berwick. Weather forecast not good and even worse for the Newcastle opener on Sunday 29th. Annoying as March weather has not been too bad until this weekends forecast. However the weather people often get it wrong, get me a job there as it seems you can be bad at the job and not face the sack!! I will be at Berwick later in the year so Bandits can count on my £15.00 approx at least a couple of times I hope both meetings go ahead and are not spoiled by wind and rain but I am only going to the Newcastle home leg...Its always freezing at Shielfield so get your thermals out and if I am honest Brough's only grandstand does not get any sun and we freeze there in March as well. Good luck to both teams for the 2015 season but more luck to Newcastle OK!!
  6. Well what you see is what we got. The lads in this team all have to improve if we are to win anything, that is fact. They are all capable of improvement and we are not able to pay the wages of the leagues top men so this seven will do for me What do you suggest MKRider?
  7. Here we go again. Season 2015. This is a team without a big name rider but has a couple of riders that can make the jump up!! So come on lads lets win things this year I will be there cheering you on
  8. So Steve is to follow brother Richie as number 1 at Newcastle Speedway. I bet he would rather start lower in the team but rules are rules and Steve may just ride out of his skin as our number 1. We need one or two of the 2015 seven riders to take up the challenge, don't forget Ludde and Anton. Both "Turnip Twin" guys have still to prove themselves as Diamonds at a higher level and are well able to do so. Lewis Kerr has been great but forget the past couple of years. Lewi now needs to continue improving, he is a good gater but needs to improve coming from behind. He could ask the new captain (Ludde) about this as the skipper is pretty good at overtaking. Christian Henry is a great team man. He can gate and also overtake now and again but I would be happy if Christian could simply maintain a 7 point average. My favourite in the team, Lewis Rose starts at reserve. He seems to have the talent to go far. A sporadic gater (often very good) and when away in front puts in fast first laps I will be amazed if Lewis does not battle his way into the team later in the season. Simon Neilsen is not a rider I would have brought back in, but hey what do I know Perhaps the guy will step up and surprise me, I hope he does Anton Rosen Of all our riders I have seen last year. Anton was the most ellusive as he was back in Sweden after the failed re-shuffle. Perhaps he will command a heat leader slot in the UK 2015. I hope he does
  9. Is anyone in the know able to say how the Diamonds will line up. I think Steve Worrall will start at number 1 but maybe I am deluded! If Steve starts at no1, the guy will need our support. But really any of of team that has to come out in red in heat 1 is being pushed a bit and he will not have it easy. We have a team that promises much and I hope one or two of them can make the jump to an out and out heatleader position. As always we will need heat winners in ht 13 and 15 so come on lads we know you can do it!
  10. Lewis Kerr took a tumble at Peterborough but he is ok just a bruised wrist and ego! so all of the Diamonds will be fine for the 28th and 29th. Newcastle have "No" new riders as the riders coming back in for 2015 Christian Henry, Steve Worrall and Anton Rosen were our guys anyway. Pity Danny & Robbo have moved on as they usually got stuck in at Shielfield and were very entertaining. Berwick have a good looking team. I hope both NE tracks perform well in the coming season but especially the new Diamonds line up, well I may be fair in my posts but I want my team Newcastle to win some trophies. Berwick can be our runners up! OK?
  11. The North East Season 2015 kicks off at Sheilfield Park with the "enemy" from Tyneside, the Newcastle Diamonds. Clashes between the sides are always great entertainment and Berwick can rely upon a bigger gate than normal as the Newcastle fans come north up the A1 to watch the Diamonds against the home side. I believe the riders that will take to the track on 28th March 2015 will be: - Berwick Ben Barker Thomas Jorgensen Claus Vissing Kevin Doolan Alex Edberg Luke Crang Matic Voldrih Newcastle Steve Worrall Lewis Kerr Christian Henry Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Lewis Rose Simon Neilsen Ben Barker pulled out of the Peterborough v GB Select side and Newcastles Lewis Kerr took a tumble, both should be able to ride in the NE opener??? Both sides have six riders each who can win races but Luke Crang and Simon Neilsen can help their teams by hitting the ground running and up their averages. I hope 2015 is good for both teams at the turnstiles and on the track
  12. Aggregate scores are great levellers between Berwick and Newcastle as our tracks could hardly be more different. I hope the Diamonds will pick up enough points at Berwick to take to brough in leg 2. Honestly! I wish Berwick well for season 2015. I want all of our northern tracks to do well, as travelling down to the south is off-putting. so lets have the cups and playoffs in the north in 2015 Bad news about Lewis Kerr, fingers crossed that he will be ok for our Berwick matches at the end of the month We just like to get things done
  13. Our two Lewis's Kerr and Rose are in action on Sunday 15th March at Peterborough. I hope they come through the meeting unscathed as we want a full team against Berwick on the 28th and 29th
  14. OK North Yorks Bear. I thought Bears hibernated until the summer!!! so go back to sleep it is too early for you to come on this thread
  15. I hope I am not too early with this thread! Berwick have a few changes in their line up and are hoping for their new riders to hit the ground running. The Diamonds have no new faces so we know what to expect from our lads. I believe the riders that will take to the track on 29th March 2015 will be: - Newcastle Steve Worrall Lewis Kerr Christian Henry Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Lewis Rose Simon Neilsen Berwick Ben Barker Thomas Jorgensen Claus Vissing Kevin Doolan Alex Edberg Luke Crang Matic Voldrih I have named the riders that I think will be at Brough on 29th March. I haven't tried to guess the riding orders. Looking at the teams I think Berwick may be suspect at reserve? Their top five look capable of running the Diamonds close but the diamonds have 6 riders who are unlikely to trail in last in any heat. Simon needs to up his game a bit from last year and he could be the diamonds trump card if he gets going and we have him and Lewis Rose picking up points. I am a Lewis Rose Fan. Go on mate do the "bees knees" in 2015
  16. While we await the new season I just thought I would tell you about one of my websites. I have been busy adding many new items to my http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk website. It is well worth a visit, I am told. I am a Newcastle fan and I hope I will never have to add Brough Park as a defunct track to my website The website has hundreds of photos including some info from our other tracks at Gosforth and Whitley Bay. My friends Ex Diamonds Ivan Mauger and Dave Gifford have their own pages on the website. If you have any photos or programmes relevant to any defunct track please scan them and email me. Sorry for this "commercial" but maybe you will be interested. If not then my apologies for disturbing your winter hibernation! Will 2015 be a season we win some silverware? We may not have a Craig Cook as our number 1 but we have a number of riders battling for the number 1 slot. I think 2015 will be interesting and one or two riders will emerge as genuine heatleaders. Ludde is my favourite out of the bunch. I really hope he will prove the knockers wrong in 2015
  17. Whilst we all await the 29th of March. You may just want to have a look at the Newcastle Speedway History website? http://www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk I have been running the Newcastle Speedway History Website since 2005..10 years, almost a life sentence! The website is already pretty big but I am always on the lookout for historical items, photos, memories etc to make it even bigger. Please have a look at the website and if you have any pics/memories etc please get in touch, my contact details are on the History Website. The 2015 team IMO look capable of sharing a lot of heats 3-3. We need some of our lads to win races especially heats 13 and 15 turning 3-3 into 4-2..Looking forward to the end of march and I hope the promoters get a boost from bigger turnouts through the turnstiles
  18. Ludde is now a full Newcastle assett. I am pleased as he is so entertaining. The lad needs to up his away average to become a fully fledged heatleader so go on Ludvig do the biz in 2015 you are capable
  19. Nothing much happening so I just thought I would list our riders with their averages Newcastle 1. Lewis Kerr 7.54 2. Stevie Worrall 7.46 3. Ludvig Lindgren 7.12 4. Anton Rosen 6.69 5. Christian Henry 6.24 6. Lewis Rose 4.05 7. Simon Nielsen 3.36 Team Total 42.46 If everyone can ride just a point above their averages we will be in for lots of last heat deciders. Home wins look quite likely but not so good in away matches but you only need a couple of riders to consistently hit big scores to transform this side of "second strings" into a team we can be proud of. I will be there every week hoping we have two or three riders to emerge as genuine heatleaders
  20. Guessing how the team will line up but it is good to be able to list the full team 1. Lewis Kerr 2. Christian Henry 3. Anton Rosen 4. Steve Worrall 5. Ludvig Lindgren 6. Simon Nielson 7. Lewis Rose So much rests upon young shoulders, Captain Ludde and first mate Christian Henry will I am sure help the rest of the team. Every rider looks capable of avoiding too many last places. Will we win at home? yes I think so. Will we win away from home?....not against the leagues top sides but you never know, the lads could take some scalps. I see us in the play offs but lack of firepower at 1 & 5 in heats 13 and 15 will make victories difficult in the play offs unless of course 1 or more of our young riders step up to genuine heatleader class.. Go on Ludde you can do it! Lewi Kerr we have seen progress from reserve to second string. Now we want Lewi to be a heat leader Captain Ludde is great to watch at Brough. Now we need him to hit big scores away from home and entertain us at Brough Anton Rosen was fairly good but his gap year may mean he is better..question mark, hope he is up to the challenge of a heat leader roll because we need someone to make the step up Christian Henry. I would put him at number 2 or 4. When he traps he is hard to catch, good luck Christian Steve Worrall. Could Steve overtake his brother. I think so. If he starts well I will be pleased, he seems able to core on other tracks, he could be the Diamonds ace in this pack Simon Nielsen. I duuno what others see that I don't in Simon but hopefully he will improve his average Lewis Rose. My favourite in this team. I can only see him improve every week. I would have Lewis' babies!!! Go on kidda 2015 may be your year Message to the Promoters... I am very happy with the team you have assembled.. Next year I expect Nicki and Bjarne Pedersen
  21. So to update a website there are two people involved. One to supply the info by email and the other person to update the website. Us fans expect very little but we should be kept up to date as other teams fans are
  22. Can anyone who owns a pocket calculator tell me what the last riders average will be, with Simon as number six what are we left with
  23. My daughter and I have paid for our "expensive 2015 season tickets". We do this every winter as we think it will help the promoters to get some funds in during the close season. If the situation we all dread comes to pass and the promoters announce that we will be closing down from lack of funds through the turnstiles/season tickets, The free admissions should be asked to pay and still do their jobs to keep the speedway running, in addition the fans, me & my daughter included, should also be asked to support a SOS fund ie Save Our Speedway. We would all need to pull together to avoid losing our speedway. I used to work alongside Barry and Bob in the box in the 1980s and had free admission. If I had been asked to pay and continue doing what I was doing I would have said yes to keep the speedway going. It closed and I was never asked to help this small way. When I was running "The Diamond Geezers" a few years ago I and my Diamond Geezers co-workers still paid to get in, never once asking for free admission we helped the promoters at the end of 2004 and throughout 2005 and we cost the promoters zero every week. We raised funds as you may remember, mainly our sponsored abseil from the Tyne Bridge? If enough people: staff and fans, get together, if times get hard we could provide some help if the promoters ever get into difficulties... We need to keep speedway going in Newcastle. What would be the alternative? The track closes Down If we close down again that will be the end at Brough Park. The council will say that is the end at Brough Park the residents will say no to reopening on noise and nuisance levels. Brough will be lost forever to the sport. We need to keep our speedway running otherwise that is that, no more speedway in Newcastle. I will then need to add a webpage to my "Defunct Speedway" website which will be a very sad thing to do! To keep Brough Park Speedway going I would pay a few quid over and above my "expensive" season ticket price. So bear in mind staff and fans that it all comes down to money, that is the only thing that will ensure we have speedway in the Toon. We should be willing to help financialy
  24. Snore!!! Tick tock tick tock!! wake me up someone on the 19th so I can hear who we have for the last 2 places (Henry and Neilsen) but you never know
