  1. Most teams sign up a partner team in another division so riders that are on the verge between leagues can either double-up to gain experience in a higher league or double-down to get confidence in a lower league, just like Danny Bird of Reading/Ipswich and Simon Stead of Workington/Wolverhampton to mention a few. Riders must have a converted Elitserien average of 5.00 or lower to be able to double-up or double-down. This rule only applies to riders with a Swedish license.
  2. Update: Tuesday January 18th 2005 What: Correction of some averages for new riders, marked with blue ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yes, I do know we have a thread called "Swedish league" but I thought this one could be worth a thread of it´s own. Below I list the squads for Elitserien, Allsvenskan and Division 1 with probable starting line-ups. All starting averages may not be correct however, especially not for those riders that are new to Swedish speedway, such as Schlein, Kujawa, etc. All juniors or reserve league riders with 2.00 (Elitserien), 3.00 (Allsvenskan) and 4.00 (Division 1) are not included. If you want to build your own line-up, remember that Elitserien and Allsvenskan have a points limit of 43.15. ¤----- ELITSERIEN -----¤ INDIANERNA 1. Roman Povazhny 5.84 2. Rory Schlein 6.02 (New) 3. 6. Zetters will travel to Orebro but I won´t be going, so I´ll make some updates from the first test match on Saturday. Sunday could be a problem though...
  7. Not Zetters but anyway... He was among the top riders during practise, togehter with Polish rider Pawel Hlib and Dane Kenneth Bjerre, even though it´s very hard to get a grip on all riders when just practising, one by one. The three riders I mentioned all went for the dirt on the outside which should be necessary towards the end of the meeting. Initially, the inside line will be better but as the meeting progress, the grip should move wider towards the fence. We have a great meeting ahead of us.
  8. Anders can you now confirm that live updates from this meeting will be available on VMS Elit's website ? If not, does anyone know if they will be available on any other website ? Doesn´t seem we can arrange that, our computer guy is out of town on Saturday. Anyway, I´ll send SMS to someone on the speedway mailing-list so updates should be available there, you may post them on here if you want.
  9. He didn´t gate at all yesterday but he still put himself in some scoring positions throughout the meeting, just didn´t happen to score. Better than the score suggested anyhow. 1 [61.2]: P Nahlin, N Pedersen, K Bjerre, T Bajerski. (1-5) Bjerre tried to catch Nahlin but moved a bit too wide on the second bend of lap three so Pedersen could pass. 5 [60.9]: B Janniro, D Balinski, J B Jensen, K Bjerre. (2-4) Good fight with countryman Jensen who he passed on the outside on bend two of lap two, only for Jensen to come back underneath him on the fourth bend. 7 [60.0]: B Hamill, J B Jensen, K Bjerre, T Bajerski. (1-5) From the gate. Bjerre tried to get a grip on Jensen but couldn´t quite do it. 13 [59.7]: N Pedersen, K Bjerre, G Walasek, J B Jensen. (3-3) Comfortable tied heat for the home duo as Pedersen was way ahead but Jensen was way off. 14 [60.4]: S Nicholls, B Hamill, K Bjerre (T/S for Bajerski), K Pecyna (M). (1-5) From the gate. 16 [60.3]: G Walasek, N Pedersen, S Nicholls, K Bjerre. (3-3) Bjerre rode on the outside, trying to make ground on Pedersen, but rode too wide, so Nicholls went up on the inside for a pass on bend four of lap two. Summary: Kenneth Bjerre: 1-0-1-2-1-0 = 5 (6)
  10. Swedish U21 Championship Final at Målilla (home of Luxo Stars) Friday July 2nd 2004 Attendence: 1237 A great day for speedway under blue skies (well, almost...) ended with much drama and two run-offs to decide the podium places. Antonio Lindbäck looked a bit quicker than the overall winner Fredrik Lindgren but Lindgren won both times against Lindbäck and therefore defended his title from last year. Tough call for the bronze medal as well, Jonas Davidsson took advantage from the favourable inside gate on win heat twentyone to grab the bronze. Among the other riders, Mattias Nilsson had some bad luck with clutch problems in a heat he could have won, with another three points in his fourth outing, he would have been in contention for a podium finsih. Ricky Kling made his first U21 final and he definitely did a good job with five points, should be interesting to see how he develops over the years. *-*-* Final score: 1) (12) Fredrik Lindgren, Team Dalakraft, 13p. ( 3 1 3 3 3 ) +3 2) (2) Antonio Lindbäck, Masarna, 13p. ( 3 2 2 3 3 ) +2 3) (8) Jonas Davidsson, Rospiggarna, 12p. ( 3 3 3 0 3 ) +3 4) (11) Sebastian Aldén, Masarna, 12p. ( 2 3 3 2 2 ) +2 5) (14) Daniel Davidsson, Rospiggarna, 12p. ( 3 3 2 1 3 ) +1 6) (13) Eric Andersson, Rospiggarna, 10p. ( 1 3 3 1 2 ) 7) (4) Mattias Nilsson, Bysarna, 8p. ( 2 2 TT 3 1 ) 8) (10) Niklas Fridell, Indianerna, 7p. ( 1 1 2 3 0 ) 9) (15) Tobias Messing, Eldarna, 6p. ( 2 2 Ef 1 1 ) 10) (7) Johan Engman, Indianerna, 6p. ( 1 1 1 2 1 ) 11) (17) Sebastian Bengtsson, Kaparna, 5p. ( - - 1 2 2 ) 12) (5) Ricky Kling, Luxo Stars, 5p. ( 2 0 1 2 0 ) 13) (1) Andreas Lekander, Griparna, 4p. ( 1 1 0 0 2 ) 14) (6) Robert Pettersson, Bajen Speedway, 3p. ( 0 0 2 0 1 ) 15) (9) Andreas Messing, Eldarna, 2p. ( 0 2 - - - ) 16) (16) Linus Jansson, Getingarna, 2p. ( 0 0 1 1 0 ) 17) (3) Tomas Karlsson, Örnarna, 0p. ( 0 0 Ef - - ) 1 [58.9]: Lindbäck, Nilsson, Lekander, Karlsson. First attempt called back due to an unsatisfactory start. Re-run won by Lindbäck from the gate, Karlsson had an engine failure while fourth on the final lap but finished the race. 2 [58.8]: J Davidsson, Kling, Engman, Pettersson. Davidsson untroubled. Kling passed Engman on the inside on bend three of lap one. 3 [58.6]: Lindgren, Aldén, Fridell, A Messing. Aldén gated but Lindgren passed him on the outside on bends three/four for a comfortable win. 4 [58.8]: D Davidsson, T Messing, Andersson, Jansson. Two passes on the same bend in this one, Davidsson passed Messing and Andersson passed Jansson on the outside on bend three of lap one. 5 [61.5]: Andersson, A Messing, Lekander, Kling. Positions held throughout the race with Kling all over the track trying to find something to pass Lekander. 6 [59.5]: D Davidsson, Lindbäck, Fridell, Pettersson. Horrible gate from Lindbäck who had to fight with Fridell for an entire lap before getting by him, Davidsson was long gone by then. Pettersson never in it. 7 [60.0]: Aldén, T Messing, Engman, Karlsson. Big distances between all the riders. 8 [59.3]: J Davidsson, Nilsson, Lindgren, Jansson. From the gate with Lindgren not able to make an impact on Nilsson. 9 [59.8]: Aldén, Pettersson, Jansson, Lekander. Lekander all over Jansson but surprisingly not able to pass him. 10 [59.5]: Lindgren, Lindbäck, Kling, T Messing (Ef). Great fight for two laps between the top three, Lindgren took the command right from the start and Lindbäck wasn´t quite close enough for a pass. 11 [60.3]: J Davidsson, D Davidsson, Bengtsson, Karlsson (Ef). A Messing looped when make a practise start, probably broke some ribs in the fall and was replaced with Sebastian Bengtsson for the remainder of the meeting. J Davidsson untroubled winner, behind him Karlsson chased Bengtsson only to suffer an engine failure on lap three. 12 [61.1]: Andersson, Fridell, Engman, Nilsson (TT). Nilsson´s clutch broke at the tape and he got excluded, tough for Nilsson who could have been in contention with a win in heat twelve. From the gate in the re-run even though Engman closed in on Fridell on the final lap. 13 [61.4]: Lindgren, Engman, D Davidsson, Lekander. Engman gated but was passed on the inside on bend three by Lindgren but Davidsson wasn´t as successful as Lindgren, couldn´t get by Engman, chock of the day. 14 [60.6]: Lindbäck, Aldén, Andersson, J Davidsson. The unbeaten Davidsson missed it from gate three and even though it was much quicker than Andersson, he couldn´t pass. 15 [62.6]: Fridell, Kling, Jansson, Karlsson (N). Jansson from first to third on the third bend of lap one when both Fridell and Kling went around him. 16 [61.6]: Nilsson, Bengtsson, T Messing, Pettersson. Good cut-back by Nilsson in this one, passing Bengtsson on the inside on bend one of lap two when Bengtsson went wide to cover Nilsson´s outside move. 17 [60.6]: J Davidsson, Lekander, T Messing, Fridell. Tapes to flag. 18 [59.9]: Lindbäck, Bengtsson, Engman, Jansson. Lindbäck by a British mile. 19 [61.2]: Lindgren, Andersson, Pettersson, Karlsson (N). From the gate. 20 [60.4]: D Davidsson, Aldén, Nilsson, Kling. Two good chases, Aldén hunted Davidsson for first two laps but Aldén had to watch out for Nilsson who was on his tail for the remaining two laps. Run-off for 3rd-5th [60.0]: J Davidsson, Aldén, D Davidsson. Aldén on the inside of D Davidsson on lap three but J Davidsson was long gone. Run-off for 1st-2nd [59.8]: Lindgren, Lindbäck. Lindgren gated, took Lindbäck wide on bend one and won easily.
  11. The Swedish U21 Final was held on Friday, he rode in that meeting (finishing fifth) but he didn´t participate in the qualifying rounds for the senior championship, therefore not riding on Saturday.
  12. Probably second strings from Allsvenskan (our Premier League) and lower.
  13. Who do you think will progress to the final ? Besides Bjerre and Zagar obviously. I think I speak for most of our staff in Vetlanda when I say we are very pleased with the line-up for our semifinal. Should be a cracking meeting, weather permitting. Hopefully live updates should be available on our website ( www.vmselit.nu ) for those who are interested, more info when the meeting gets closer. I don´t have much knowledge of the Polish language but it seems that Krzysztof Kasprzak have got the Polish wild card to the meeting, according to Sportowefakty.pl, that makes the semifinal even harder. My predictions for top 8, in no particulary order: Kenneth Bjerre Fredrik Lindgren Mathias Schultz Matej Zagar Adrian Miedzinski Daniel Davidsson Krzysztof Kasprzak Pawel Hlib (Henrik Möller)
  14. Clown is a harsh word and even though Hampel may pick and choose his meetings in Britain, that hasn´t anything to do with the U21-final in Sweden. Hampel never looked like being beaten in the final, he was far better than any other rider in the meeting, well deserved champion, whatever he does - or does not - in Britain.
  15. Individual World U21 Championship Final in Kumla (Sweden) Saturday September 13th 2003 Attendence: 3001 Under blue skies, the World U21-final was held today. It was a good - but not exceptional - meeting which ended with much drama in the final round. Lindgren was gifted a win in heat eighteen when Bjerre suffered mechanical gremlins on the final bend, some friends of mine who stood closer to the action said that Bjerre didn´t have an engine failure at all but just slowed down to let Lindgren through. That was not obvious to tell from the view I had. Something that can´t be question though was heat twenty when Hampel lead by forty meters but slowed down to let Szombierski have the win and a run-off for the bronze medal. The crowd was furious and it didn´t help that Szombierski went on to win the run-off, both him and Hampel were booed at the prize ceremony. Such a shame to end an otherwise fine afternoon this way and even though Hampel didn´t use fair play in that particulary situation, no-one can take away his performence today, he was by far the best rider and never once looked like being beaten by another rider as long as he wanted to win. *-*-* 1 [64.2]: Ljung, Fisher, Bjerre, Howe. Excellent first and second bend by Ljung to hit the outside dirt and pass them all entering the backstraight for the first time despite starting from gate four. Howe never in it. 2 [64.5]: Davidsson, Szombierski, Smolinski, Allen (Ef). Davidsson passed Szombierski on the outside on bend two of lap one. Smolinski and Allen had a fine fight for third place, Allen got the advantage but suffered an engine failure on the final lap while third. 3 [64.6]: Harris, Zagar, Miskowiak, Lindgren. All the way for Harris. Miskowiak and Lindgren fought for third during the entire heat, exchanging third place between them, with Miskowiak taking the point. 4 [64.9]: Hampel, Kurmanski, Smith, Iversen (Ef). Iversen had an engine failure at the gate. Hampel won by an English mile with fellow countrymen Kurmanski in a comfortable second place. 5 [65.2]: Lindgren, Szombierski, Howe, Smith. Fine move by Lindgren who went between the Brits on the second bend to take the lead. Szombierski passed Smith on bend four of lap one and Howe on the line after the latter had suffered an engine failure while second on the final bend. 6 [65.1]: Hampel, Harris, Bjerre, Davidsson. From the gate. 7 [65.8]: Iversen, Fisher, Miskowiak, Smolinski. Miskowiak worked hard behind Fisher but couldn´t make it happen. 8 [65.6]: Zagar, Ljung, Kurmanski, Allen (Fx). Ljung headed for a comfortabel win but Allen suffered an engine failure on bend four of lap three and fell, he wasn´t able to get up in time so the referee had to stop it with Allen - naturally - being excluded. Zagar gated in the re-run and won easily. 9 [66.8]: Kurmanski, Howe, Miskowiak, Davidsson. A good heat, Howe gated but was chased by Kurmanski and Miskowiak on either side, Kurmanski managed to pass him on the outside of bend three of lap four. Davidsson never in it. 10 [65.9]: Iversen, Szombierski, Zagar, Bjerre (Ef). Iversen all the way. He looked to be followed by countrymen Bjerre but he had an engine failure when side by side with Szombierski on the final lap. 11 [66.1]: Hampel, Lindgren, Allen, Fisher (Ef). Despite having gate four, Hampel was unstoppable and took another convincing victory. Fisher Ef while third after a lap. 12 [67.4]: Harris, Smith, Smolinski, Ljung (Fx). Tough first bend, Smith took Ljung wide and headed for the lead but Smith lifted coming out of bend two and Ljung was on the outside trying to squeeze through but he hit the fence. Ljung was excluded, a tough decision IMO because he was left with very little space. Harris untouchable in the re-run with Smith and Smolinski having a fine battle for second. 13 [65.9]: Hampel, Howe, Zagar, Smolinski. Big distances between all the riders. 14 [66.0]: Bjerre, Miskowiak, Allen, Smith. Miskowiak passed Allen on the inside on bend one the second lap but Bjerre was long gone. 15 [66.3]: Harris, Szombierski, Kurmanski, Fisher (Ef). Fisher gated but was quickly passed by Harris on the second and Szombierski on the fourth bend, then his bike packed up. 16 [67.3]: Lindgren, Davidsson, Ljung, Iversen. Amazing heat! The Swedes were side by side after a lap and exchanged positions several times after that, Ljung went from first to third, Lindgren from third to first. Iversen never looked like taking a point but came storming back on the final bend but couldn´t catch Ljung on the line. Speedway at it´s best! 17 [67.4]: Iversen, Harris, Howe, Allen. Harris last from the gate but flew past the others on the backstraight. Iversen came back and regained the lead on bend four of lap one. At the back, Allen put some pressure on Howe who managed to hold on for one point. 18 [67.5]: Lindgren, Bjerre, Kurmanski, Smolinski. Bjerre was heading for a huge win but suffered mechanical problems on the final bend to gift Lindgren an extra point. 19 [67.6]: Zagar, Smith, Davidsson, Romanek. Tapes to flag. 20 [67.6]: Szombierski, Hampel, Miskowiak, Ljung. Hampel lead - almost - all the way, heading for an easy maximum but slowed down severly on the final bend so Szombierski could go through for the win and a run-off for the bronze medal. Run-off for bronze [67.1]: Szombierski, Lindgren. Lindgren gated. Szombierski chased well, tried the outside line on bend three of lap two, cut back to the inside and passed Lindgren on bend four. Lindgren came back on the inside of bend two of lap three but Szombierski made his move once again on the fourth bend of the third lap for the lead. Lindgren put some great effort into it on the final lap but Szombierski held on. Result: 1) (14) Jaroslaw Hampel, Poland, 14p. ( 3 3 3 3 2 ) 2) (10) Chris Harris, Great Britain, 13p. ( - - - - 0 ) 18) (17) --- Hampel never looked like being beaten when he needed to win. Harris turned in a strong performence after a subdue practise session. Szombierski had some gifted points due to engine failures but won the run-off fair and square from the back against Lindgren. Zagar blew hot and cold. Iversen could have had a podium finish, looked fast. Kurmanski was exciting, scraping the fence on bends three/four trying to find some extra grip. Bjerre started too slow but got going later on. Davidsson up and down all day. Ljung a bit unlucky and didn´t seem like himself after his crash. Howe worked hard, worth a bit more but obviously not matchfit. Miskowiak fought hard, not fast enough. Smith did what could be expected. Fisher could have had an upper half finish but it wasn´t surprising seeing him struggle with his machinery on a 375 meter track. Smolinski rode his heart out but should - and did - come up short against riders who rides against tough oppositions week in and week out. Allen likes the track but his machinery let him down, looked slow on the practise and nothing had changed today.
  16. Krzysztof Kasprzak have withdrawn from the meeting. Haven´t seen any confirmation of his replacement but it should be Martin Smolinski taking his place at number 7 with Lukasz Romanek becoming first reserve.
  17. PATHETIC! :clown Thank God I didn´t go...
  18. Interesting topic! I couldn´t have said it better myself! In my younger years I probably looked over my fathers shoulder but since the ages of eight I´ve filled in programmes from all meetings I´ve been to, or at least so far back I can remember at the moment. Really can´t imagine how it would be not to fill in one and I dread the day when they are sold out, that´s why I usually print my own. Strange? Well, that´s me.
  19. The pictures should be from the time when the practise was supposed to be held, sometime between 3 and 5pm on Friday afternoon if I´m not mistaken. Looking at the second picture from the top, you could see a white/black clock which seems to point at 4pm.
  20. One would think so but he went back to Sweden to recover for the Swedish league meeting on Tuesday.
  21. Shocking win! Don´t think anyone over here had imagined a medal and definitely not a gold. Splendid work by the entire squad and team manager Tony Olsson. Congrats to all of them! If that is the case, I´m very dissappointed because I really thought it was our time to host it. The sport is on a roll in Sweden, the attendence figures have never been higher and neither have the media coverage. Such a shame to miss out but according to sources the WTC is quite expensive to host and the national federation SVEMO and the Swedish teams are obviously not willing to take the financial risks. :-( Maybe time to start saving some money for a British trip next year...
  22. Surely Avesta must be considered to be a proper track!? Otherwise I agree with what have been written here, Gollob is always a force to count on when it comes to real tracks and could be a winner, five different winners in five meetings if that happens. Greg Hancock might not be on the absolute top of the podium this time either but he has been close lately with three straight finals. Andreas Jonsson rode well in Krsko last year, hope he can pull through once again and that Rune Holta (who rides in my Swedish team) can finally reach the final, he deserves it after four straight semifinals this season. Should be a good meeting anyhow, as usual on a proper track.

Initially it looked like a Luxo double but Ljung lifted on the second bend (lap one) to let Ivarsson and Gustavsson through. He chased Gustavsson hard and almost catched him on the line. 3 [64.1]: Dryml, Andersson, Jagus, Andersen. 4-2, 9-9. From the gate. Andersen never in the race. 4 [64.0]: Holta, Ulamek, Johansson, Ivarsson. 3-3, 12-12. Holta passed Ulamek on bend one of lap two. Johansson easily held off Ivarsson for a point. 5 [65.2]: Andersen, Ljung, Gustavsson, Paluch. 1-5, 13-17. Good gate from Gustavsson to take the lead. He was passed by Andersen on the first lap and Ljung passed him as well when Gustavsson rode too wide on the second bend of the final lap. 6 [64.3]: Dryml, Jagus, Max, Barker. 5-1, 18-18. From the gate. Barker awful at the back. 7 [64.9]: Andersson, Cegielski, Paluch, Andersen. 3-3, 21-21. Andersen totally messed up this one. Luxo was on the way to a double victory but Andersen drifted wide on bend three/four of lap one and locked-up which let Cegielski through. On the following bend Paluch passed the Dane on the inside as well. 8 [64.9]: Jagus, Dryml, Ulamek, Johansson. 5-1, 26-22. From the gate. Ulamek never close. 9 [64.3]: Holta, Max, Ivarsson, Barker. 4-2, 30-24. Max passed Ivarsson on bend three of lap one. He also closed the gap on Holta but not enough. 10 [65.6]: Ljung, Ulamek, Cegielski, Gustavsson. 1-5, 31-29. Tapes to flag. 11 [66.3]: Johansson, Ljung, Ivarsson, Gustavsson. 1-5, 32-34. From the gate. 12 [64.8]: Andersson, Jagus, Holta, Ljung. 3-3, 35-37. Holta fell in the first attempt and in re-run he had to come from the back for a paid second. Passed Ljung on the first bend of lap two. Andersson untroubled in front. 13 [64.9]: Max, Dryml, Paluch, Andersen. 3-3, 38-40. From the gate with Andersen once again unable to beat Paluch. 14 [65.2]: Holta, Andersson, Ulamek, Cegielski. 3-3, 41-43. Splendid gate by Holta from gate C to lead all the way. Cegielski worked hard on the first couple of laps but Andersson and Ulamek rode a good race to keep him behind, the Luxo pair extended their lead (towards Cegielski) on the third and fourth lap. 15 [65.9]: Ulamek, Jagus, Johansson, Paluch. 2-4, 43-47. The guests seemed to have clinched the victory but Jagus forced his way past Johansson on the second (or possibly third) lap. 16 [65.2]: Holta, Andersson, Max, Dryml. 3-3, 46-50. Holta/Dryml gated and lead into the first bend, Andersson cut back to the inside on bend two and passed Dryml. Max then flew past the Czech on the backstraight of lap one to secure the victory. For VMS Elit, Cegielski was a bit unlucky in his first outing but didn´t gate well or had enough engine power to trouble many of the opposition. Horrible meeting overall, can only get better. Paluch had a fine second string job with a paid six despite lacking speed. Dryml will be a splendid rider for VMS Elit, he proved that several times even though he came up short in the final heat. Jagus a bit better then expected since it was his first meeting at the track, could provide several upsets during the season. Holta was great, only dropping one points and scoring two superb race victories from the always tricky gate C in heats 14/16, that wasn´t enough this time tough. Ivarsson was a bit disappointing, missing the gates several times. Gustavsson was also expected to produce better on his home track, unfortunately he was on the wrong end of all double victories for the guests. For Luxo Stars, Max was excellent when gating but a slick track like this doesn´t suit him very well. Barker was gifted his only point, he didn´t gate and if you don´t do that in Vetlanda, you won´t score a lot either. Andersson was excellent, quick in front and produced good team-riding when necessary. Andersen had a night to forget, didn´t find good lines around the track. Ulamek had a solid contibution without being spectactular. Ljung gave away a couple of points in heat two but both he and Johansson should feel satisfied with their efforts, they did outscore the home reserves and that´s their job. Well done. 24. Swedish Qualifier for GP 2004 at Motala (home of Piraterna) Saturday April 26th 2003 Attendence: 733 *-*-* 1 [59.1]: Stefan Andersson, Peter I Karlsson, Magnus Zetterström, Patrik Dybeck. Zetterström gated but was quickly passed by both Andersson and Karlsson. 2 [59.6]: Claes Ivarsson, Freddie Eriksson, Niklas Karlsson, Kim Jansson. From the gate. 3 [60.6]: Peter Ljung, Magnus Karlsson, Daniel Nermark, Marcus Andersson. Ljung like a rocket from the outside. Nermark all over Karlsson but no passes was made. 4 [60.5]: Stefan Ekberg, David Ruud, Tobias Johansson, Stefan Dannö. Ruud passed Johansson on bend four of lap one but couldn´t catch home rider Ekberg. Dannö tried everything to get a point but didn´t find much grip on the outside. 5 [61.1]: David Ruud, Daniel Nermark, Stefan Andersson, Claes Ivarsson. Nermark gated but was passed on the outside on bend three of lap two. Ivarsson never in the race. 6 [61.3]: Tobias Johansson, Magnus Zetterström, Kim Jansson, Marcus Andersson. Tape to flag for Johansson. Andersson passed by Zetterström on the first and Jansson on the final lap. Jansson chased hard for several laps before he was able to make an outside pass on Andersson. 7 [61.2]: Peter I Karlsson, Stefan Ekberg, Magnus Karlsson, Niklas Karlsson. PIK passed Ekberg after one lap and won comfortabely. Close fight between the others, especially Magnus and Niklas who exchanged third place a couple of times. Proved to be the best heat of the afternoon. 8 [61.0]: Freddie Eriksson, Stefan Dannö, Peter Ljung, Patrik Dybeck. Eriksson all the way. Ljung tried hard on the outside but didn´t find much grip to do anything about Dannö. 9 [60.3]: Stefan Andersson, Kim Jansson, Magnus Karlsson, Stefan Dannö. "First bend bunching" between Jansson and Dannö on the first attempt and both fell. Re-run from the gate. 10 [60.9]: Magnus Zetterström, Peter Ljung, Claes Ivarsson, Stefan Ekberg. From the gate. 11 [61.0]: Peter I Karlsson, Daniel Nermark, Freddie Eriksson, Tobias Johansson. Johansson drifted wide with a lap left to let Eriksson through. 12 [61.2]: Patrik Dybeck, Marcus Andersson, David Ruud, Niklas Karlsson. Surprising result with Ruud missing the gate from the inside and being passed by Andersson on bend three of lap one. Both Dybeck and Andersson scored their first points in the meeting. 13 [61.2]: Niklas Karlsson, Peter Ljung, Stefan Andersson, Tobias Johansson. Karlsson hadn´t done anything so far but won from the gate. 14 [60.7]: David Ruud, Magnus Zetterström, Freddie Eriksson, Magnus Karlsson. Zetterström gated and went wide to stop Karlsson on the outside of bend two which let Ruud take the inside for the lead. Eriksson passed Karlsson on the final lap. 15 [61.7]: Peter I Karlsson, Stefan Dannö, Marcus Andersson, Fredrik Lindgren. Claes Ivarsson excluded for T/T, replaced by Lindgren. Dannö drifted wide on bend two and Karlsson sneaked through on the inside. 16 [61.9]: Daniel Nermark, Kim Jansson, Patrik Dybeck, Stefan Ekberg. Ekberg second to fourth on the backstraight of lap two with Jansson passing Dybeck on the following lap. 17 [61.3]: Stefan Andersson, Freddie Eriksson, Stefan Ekberg, Marcus Andersson. Andersson gated and a desperate Eriksson rode all over the track to get closer, which he didn´t. 18 [61.8]: Stefan Dannö, Magnus Zetterström, Daniel Nermark, Niklas Karlsson. After a forgetable meeting, Dannö sprung to life to win from the gate. No passes. 19 [61.7]: David Ruud, Peter Ljung, Peter I Karlsson, Kim Jansson. Both Ruud and Ljung passed Karlsson who had already secured his place in the WC-quarterfinal in Norway. 20 [62.4]: Tobias Johansson, Patrik Dybeck, Claes Ivarsson, Magnus Karlsson. Ivarsson passed Karlsson on lap two and chased Dybeck hard but wasn´t able to make another pass. Run-off 4th-5th [Awarded]: Magnus Zetterström, Peter Ljung (Fx) Zetterström hit Ljung´s front wheel on the first bend in a true racing accident. However, the referee didn´t see it like that and excluded Ljung! A very harsh decision and the crowd certainly didn´t liked it, neither did I... The final heat sure was a bad ending to an otherwise fine meeting. All riders seemed capable of beating everyone else so no heat could be easily predicted. In fact, last placed Marcus Andersson actually passed eventual winner David Ruud in heat twelve and thirteen of the sixteen riders took a heat victory. There were quite a lot of passes and close encounters so the crowd should be satisfied, at least with the racing. The weather however wasn´t that nice, heavy winds throughout the meeting made it freezing cold and at the end it was hard to write in the programme. Hopefully there will be a lot better on Tuesday when the first round of Elitserien is being held. 1) (13) David Ruud, Västervik, 12p. ( 2 3 1 3 3 ) 2) (3) Peter I Karlsson, Valsarna, 12p. 25. He actually rode for Wroclaw yesterday when his team visited Gdansk in a previously postponed meeting. Home rider Adam Fajfer won the final heat, beating Hancock and Nicholls to secure a 45-45 draw. Robert Dados had four rides: 0-2*-3-1 = 6+1 (4) Seems to have been a fine comeback and I´m very happy he´s overcome his problems and is back, Dados is one of the most entertaining riders in the Swedish Elitserien, I always enjoy watching him in action.
