  1. An entertaining evening for sure on a slick track which produced some exciting racing anyway. Surprised to see Ricky Kling excluded in heat eight, harsh exclusion which ruined his evening to be honest. The final? Well, Lindgren took a chance at the tapes to get infront of Lindbäck but lost out. Lindbäck was better on the day and deserved to win, taking a maximum of 6 heat victories. The fast gating Jonasson held second for a while but was eventually passed by Aldén. A special mention to Viktor Bergström who fought hard, for little reward.

A good one! Andreas Jonsson produced some amazing stuff throughout the evening and deserved to win, even though he got beaten ny veteran Niklas Klingberg in his second outing. Gotta feel a bit sorry for Peter Karlsson who rode very well but lost out of a podium place after a bad gate in the final. Surprise package of the day was Thomas H Jonasson, 17 years old (18 later this year), who scored a creditable five points in his first Swedish Championship Final. Of course you would expect to hear that from me as I am a fan of VMS Elit.
  3. "Scott passes Janusz on the inside, Janusz hit his backwheel and fell. 5-1 to Smederna, the tactical substitution worked fine. " According to Rospiggarna's website, Kolodziej broke his collarbone in the crash. Hamill was ill (stomach bug).
  4. Updates from Zarnovica seems to be done via an Excel sheet! http://www.speedway.sk/online/subory/online.xls Download the document from time to time and you´ll see the updates. 1: Protasiewicz, Lindgren, Pijper, Harris 2: Gjedde, Pavlic, McGowan, Topinka 3: Sullivan, Kennett, Iversen, Visvader 4: Kosiecha, Max, Darkin, Schatzer This seems to be the results from the first four heats. Notes: Heinrich Schatzer, Austria, replaces Manuel Hauzinger. Vladimir Visvader, Slovakia, replaces Mathieu Tresarrieu.
  5. Found something on the Hungarian Forum (www.speedway.hu). I´m not particulary fluent in the Hungarian language but it seems to be a result, judge for yourselves:
  6. Peter Ljung, Sweden, will take a place instead of one of the Americans in the Miskolc qualifier, guess it´s Werner then as his name is "tbc".
  7. SVEMO doesn´t have a Wild Card in the Grand Prix sense of the way. If none of the four (PK, Max, Lindgren, Ruud) Swedish riders that are nominated for the semifinal qualify for the final, SVEMO have the option of selecting one of those four riders as a "Wild Card". The hosting nation are guaranteed one place in the final but Sweden don´t have one extra rider in the final if one of the four riders qualifies. At least that´s what I´m told.
  8. Correct, the meeting was abandoned after 5 heats. I would guess that the inclusion of that meeting in the league table is simply a database problem on speedway.nu which will be corrected ASAP. A meeting in Sweden can be called a result after one more than half the number of heats in that specific meeting has been held. In Elitserien, when there are 16 heats, 9 of them must have been held for the result to stand. If a meeting is abandoned before the completion of heat 6, a re-admission ticket is issued for another meeting of that kind, in this case Elitserien. No money is re-funded.
  9. I´ll echo that. I saw him once and got very impressed. It hurt my heart that he quit, what a fighter, what a style...
  10. Who would you have selected? I must admit that this isn´t an easy selection to make, should you consider the riders that actually are the best (PK, Max etc.) or look towards younger prospects? Peter Ljung has performed well this year and must have been considered while Jonas Davidsson struggled when he was in Bajen Speedway and surely the federation made their selection on that fact.
  11. You are all welcome! ALLSVENSKAN - Each team are listed below with a reasonable line-up at the moment (however I have a bit of a problem to see such structure in the team selection that exist in Elitserien but anyway...) - Averages listed are starting averages excluding bonus points. - A rolling average are in use to determine which riders rides at reserve in each time, this explains why some riders with a higher average than a the other five riders rides at reserve in the line-ups listed below. - Number 8 must be Swedish junior with an average lower than each of riders 1-7. - Maximum average for riders 1-7 are 43.15, number 8 is not included when calculating maximum average. * Riders listed in the respective partner team in Elitserien or Division 1. A maximum of 2 riders can be use from your partner team for each meeting. GETINGARNA Kenny Olsson was signed on loan from Bajen Speedway in the latest transfer period and with a 6.76 starting average, that looks a good signing to lift Getingarna out of the Allsvenskan basement. The management have a numerous of options available to them but many line-ups depends on the availability of Premier League riders Doolan, Bergström and Nermark. 1. Emil Lindqvist 5.37 2. Kevin Doolan 7.94 3. Kenny Olsson 6.76 4. Ronnie Jamrozy 7.94 5. *Andreas Bergström 6.59 6. Juha Hautamäki 4.59 7. Viktor Bergström 3.00 8. John Larsson 3.00 Total: 42.19 (Krzysztof Buczkowski 7.94) (Krystian Klecha 7.94) (*Daniel Nermark 7.75) (Miroslaw Jablonski 7.73) (Kalle Lindgren 3.09) GRIPARNA The Griffins were also active in the transfer period which just expired, Rusty Harrison was signed and should give team manager Mats Boström some top fire option and put the other riders under pressure knowing there are someone available to replace them for the following week if they don´t deliver. 1. Kauko Nieminen 5.55 2. Jörgen Hultgren 6.02 3. Patrick Hougaard 6.49 4. Jesper Kristiansen 7.94 5. Robert Johansson 6.64 6. Benny Johansson 4.32 7. Anders Ljung 4.46 8. *Billy Forsberg 3.48 Total: 41.42 (Rusty Harrison 7.94) (Hampus Gustavsson 3.37) KAPARNA Their ideal line-up should be unstoppable with Andersson and Parker (especially) on ridiculously low averages. Problems are the availablilty of Shane Parker, as they have no-one but Steven Andersen to replace him with, and the fact that second string Steen Jensen has been struggling to support the top four in combination of the team's long tail at times. 1. Rafal Dobrucki 9.39 2. Steen Jensen 5.17 3. *Stefan Andersson 7.85 4. Roman Chromik 7.69 5. Shane Parker 6.94 6. Norvy Brandin 3.00 7. *Tomas Karlsson 3.00 8. David Adiels 3.00 Total: 43.04 (Manuel Hauzinger 7.99) (Andrzej Gluchy 7.94) (Anders Nielsen 7.79) (Jan Graversen 7.25) (Steven Andersen 6.35) (*Mikael Berntsson 3.51) LEJONEN: The Lions made a couple of changes in the transfer period as well, exchanging Poles Dariusz Fijalkowski and Michal Robacki for fellow countrymen Zbigniew Suchecki and Mariusz Staszewski (from Rospiggarna). The latter is an experienced rider on Swedish tracks and should be definiate starter as long as Robert Flis is out with injury. 17 year old Thomas H Jonasson from VMS Elit has banged in several double figure scores from his place at reserve. 1. Stefan Ekberg 6.55 2. Casper Wortmann 7.94 3. Jaroslaw Lukaszewski 7.07 4. *Mattias Nilsson 6.31 5. Robert Flis 8.54 6. Kim Almqvist 3.00 7. *Thomas H Jonasson 3.00 8. Viktor Göthberg 3.00 Total: 42.41 (Leon Madsen 7.94) (Zbigniew Suchecki 7.94) (Mariusz Staszewski 7.52) (Henrik Möller 5.68) (Thomas Ljung 5.63) (Patrik Malmfeldt 3.00) TEAM BIKAB: The Eskilstuna outfit have Danish sensation Nicolai Klindt as the only mainstay among the foreign riders with Tacey, Staszek and Rempala filling in from time to time and especially when Eric Andersson rides in Britain. The team manager duo of Jarl/Eriksson also use Jimmy Jansson or Joakim Brolin in in the top five with Robert Henderson slotting in at reserve as an alternative line-up. Team Bikab recently signed off the injured Mathias Schultz for Polish junior Marcin Jedrzejewski in the transfer period. 1. *Eric Andersson 6.35 2. *Linus Eklöf 3.91 3. Nicolai Klindt 7.94 4. Shaun Tacey 7.94 5. Andreas Lekander 5.90 6. Jimmy Jansson 4.30 7. Joakim Brolin 5.21 8. Jesper Brolin 3.00 Total: 41.55 (Pawel Staszek 8.13) (Marcin Jedrzejewski 7.94) (Jacek Rempala 7.66) (*Kim Jansson 7.34) (Robert Henderson 3.32) TEAM DALAKRAFT: The partner club of Masarna don´t have a lot of options available at the moment with Jordan Jurczynski injured and Sebastian Aldén racing for Swindon on Thursdays. But Team Dalakraft signed Robert Pettersson on loan from Bajen Speedway and can also welcome back the talanted Linus Sundström after a horrific crash in May which saw him sidelined for six weeks in his first year of 500cc. 1. Niklas Aspgren 5.39 2. Adrian Gomolski 7.48 3. Robert Pettersson 5.52 4. *Sebastian Bengtsson 5.02 5. Rikard Sedelius 7.01 6. *Robin Bergqvist 3.00 7. Johan Liljegren 4.04 8. Linus Sundström 3.00 Total: 37.46 (Jordan Jurczynski 7.94) (Sebastian Aldén 6.70) (Niklas Gallon 6.25) (Fredrik Andersson 3.00) (David Janehult 3.00) VALSARNA: The former Elitserien side made two solid signings in the transfer period, getting Magnus Karlsson from MasarnaAvesta and Piotr Swist, two riders who will perform well at this level. They struggled early on with a small squad and Henning Bager out injured but are still only one point away from the top of the table and should be a force for the remainder of the season, especially with a rider like Kling on a low 4.74 average. 1. Robert Eriksson 8.01 2. *Ricky Kling 4.74 3. Magnus Karlsson 6.22 4. Tobias Johansson 6.88 5. Emil Kramer 7.93 6. Marius Rökeberg 3.81 7. Robin Törnqvist 4.90 8. *Christian Isomettä 3.43 Total: 42.49 (Henning Bager 9.89) (Piotr Swist 7.31) (Rune Sola 5.44) (Marcus Åström 3.00) (Joachim Engstrand 3.00) ÖRNARNA: The Eagles lost some middle order alternative as Jyri Palomäki broke a leg riding for his Division 1-team Nässjö a couple of weeks ago. Olsson has had a good season so far but much of their success depends on the Danish duo of Hansen and Jakobsen who are blowing hot and cold from one time to another. Norbert Kosciuch, a signing from the first transfer period earlier in the year, has been a revelation for them. 1. Norbert Kosciuch 7.94 2. Lars Hansen 6.34 3. Niklas Karlsson 8.06 4. Klaus Jakobsen 7.06 5. Tomas Olsson 5.20 6. Tomas Aronsson 4.04 7. Per-Ola Klasson 3.93 8. Total: 42.57 (Piotr Dym 7.94) (*Jyri Palomäki 6.15) (Tomi Reima 4.52)

  13. ELITSERIEN - Each team are listed below with an normal/expected home line-up at the moment. - Averages listed are starting averages excluding bonus points. * Riders listed in the respective partner team of each Elitserien club. BAJEN SPEEDWAY Bajen Speedway signed the Polish trio of Szombierski, Gapinski and Wegrzyk in the latest transfer period to replace Jonas Davidsson (Rospiggarna), Robert Pettersson (Team Dalakraft) and Piotr Swiderski (injured). Jesper B Jensen started the season at reserve but has gone straight up the ladder to heat leader status. His injury will be a problem for them, a 4.70 rider scoring twice as much just can´t be replaced easily. In the meeting on Tuesday, Wegrzyk started at number one and Skornicki came in at reserve, that might be a permanent solution as long as Jensen is out injured. 1. Jesper B Jensen 4.70 2. Stefan Dannö 5.47 3. Nicki Pedersen 9.55 4. Tomasz Gapinski 5.21 5. Joonas Kylmäkorpi 6.86 6. Mariusz Wegrzyk 4.95 7. Freddie Eriksson 5.46 8. *Kim Nilsson 2.00 Total: 42.20 (Rafal Szombierski 7.57) (Adam Skornicki 4.69) INDIANERNA The Indians from Kumla started with Rory Schlein at reserve but he failed and his replacement, squad member Roman Povazhny, has done much better. The Russian has moved from reserve to the main body of the team and even though the rolling averages will change the reserve pair from one meeting to another, any two of Povazhny, Zetterström, Laukkanen and Okoniewski will ride at reserve for the remainder of the season. A strong duo to say the least. 1. Roman Povazhny 4.81 2. Henrik Gustafsson 5.76 3. Matej Ferjan 6.31 4. Magnus Zetterström 4.81 5. Piotr Protasiewicz 8.56 6. Kaj Laukkanen 5.32 7. Rafal Okoniewski 4.75 8. *Simon Gustafsson 2.00 Total: 40.32 (Rory Schlein 5.45) (Maciej Kuciapa 4.99) LUXO STARS Luxo Stars have a strong top five but only have reasonably replacements for Gjedde (Topinka) and Hefenbrock (Östergaard) if either one of them should fail or get injured. Partner team Valsarna also have alternatives in their squad, at least for the two reserve places. 1. Hans Andersen 6.55 2. Charlie Gjedde 4.69 3. Peter Karlsson 8.06 4. Mikael Max 8.32 5. Andreas Jonsson 9.79 6. Christian Hefenbrock 3.19 7. Ricky Kling 2.44 8. *Robin Törnqvist 2.57 Total: 43.04 (Tomas Topinka 4.47) (Ulrich Östergaaard 3.09) (*Emil Kramer 4.99) (*Tobias Johansson 4.15) (*Magnus Karlsson 3.65) MASARNAAVESTA: Giving a comment about MasarnaAvesta isn´t easy, Leigh Adams will ride in about half the meetings throughout the year and without him in the line-up, MasarnaAvesta could go for a bit more of strengh in depth changing Adams, Dryml and Liljegren for Dryml, Stead and Aspgren. Team maanger Anders Fröjd doesn´t hesitate to move riders arond the top five so it´s hard giving a true picture of the possibilities they have building a team under the 43.15 rule. 1. Antonio Lindbäck 7.63 2. Lukas Dryml 5.49 3. Leigh Adams 8.58 4. Fredrik Lindgren 5.41 5. Tony Rickardsson 9.84 6. *Sebastian Aldén 4.01 7. *Johan Liljegren 2.00 8. Robin Bergqvist 2.00 Total: 42.96 (Ales Dryml 6.39) (Simon Stead 6.09) (Oliver Allen 3.77) (*Niklas Aspgren 2.96) (Sebastian Bengtsson 2.67) PIRATERNA: The Pirates have some options available to them, two of the trio Balinski, Kosiecha and Bjerre will always ride and the team management of Staaf and Linde usually replace a rider if they had and off night the week before. 1. Grzegorz Walasek 7.23 2. Mark Loram 5.86 3. Damian Balinski 5.87 4. Robert Kosiecha 5.40 5. Ryan Sullivan 7.82 6. Stefan Andersson 4.93 7. Daniel Davidsson 5.17 8. Tomas Karlsson 2.00 Total: 42.28 (Kenneth Bjerre 6.12) (Michal Szczepaniak 4.47) ROSPIGGARNA: At the moment Janusz Kolodziej is missing through injury but with him in the line-up, Rospiggarna looks fairly strong. Rospiggarna got Jonas Davidsson (Bajen Speedway) and Adrian Miedzinski (unattached) in the latest transfer period to replace veterans Sam Ermolenko and Mariusz Staszewski. A young squad lead by skipper Greg Hancock who could mess with better teams during the remainder of the season. 1. Greg Hancock 7.51 2. Karol Zabik 5.62 3. Janusz Kolodziej 5.05 4. Travis McGowan 5.68 5. Jonas Davidsson 7.12 6. Chris Slabon 4.73 7. Adrian Miedzinski 4.19 8. Andreas Messing 4.08 Total: 39.90 (Marcin Rempala 6.10) SMEDERNA: Just like Rospiggarna, Smederna are having a class act on the injury list, namely Krzysztof Kasprzak. His absence is tough to match but when he comes back, they will be dangerous. Smederna got Kim Jansson (Kaparna) and Mariusz Puszakowski (unattached) for the struggling Billy Janniro and the injured Morten Risager in the transfer period which just expired. In the latest home meeting, Jansson made his debut at two while Andreas Lekander was down at reserve. 1. Scott Nicholls 7.75 2. Krzysztof Kasprzak 6.68 3. Billy Hamill 7.33 4. Robert Sawina 6.05 5. Wieslaw Jagus 6.50 6. Kim Jansson 4.52 7. Eric Andersson 3.73 8. Linus Eklöf 2.00 Total: 42.56 (Mariusz Puszakowski 5.00) (David Howe 4.30) (*Andreas Lekander 3.37) (*Joakim Brolin 2.81) VARGARNA: The Wolves also have some problems at the moment. They welcomed back Adam Shields from injury but lost Dave Watt instead and David Norris has quit the team according to the team website. Luckily partner team Getingarna acquired Kenny Olsson from Bajen Speedway which makes him available for Vargarna as well. Vargarna: 1. Dave Watt 4.75 2. Adam Shields 6.30 3. Niklas Klingberg 6.45 4. Joe Screen 5.20 5. Matej Zagar 5.75 6. Daniel Nermark 4.85 7. Leigh Lanham 3.47 8. *Viktor Bergström 2.00 Total: 36.77 (David Norris 5.03) (*Kenny Olsson 4.05) (Andreas Bergström 3.92) VMS ELIT: Last years finalist VMS Elit had both Jason Crump and Mattias Nilsson in the line-up for the league meeting on Tuesday, but the "normal" home line-up is as listed below. Richardson was given a rest though the hectic schedule at the moment while Jedrzejak have some back problems right now, he needed some time off for rehab. Even Aspegren has been missing for a month in which Niklas Larsson has ridden as number seven/eight. VMS Elit: 1. Lee Richardson 7.32 2. Peter Ljung 5.53 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 8.19 4. David Ruud 5.12 5. Rune Holta 9.39 6. Tomasz Jedrzejak 5.42 7. Thomas H Jonasson 2.00 8. Robin Aspegren 2.00 Total: 42.97 (Jason Crump 8.82) (Piotr Paluch 5.28) (*Stefan Ekberg 3.89) (Mattias Nilsson 3.70) (*Thomas Ljung 3.15) VÄSTERVIK: Champions Västervik have a super strong squad. They acquired Todd Wiltshire in the transfer period to replace the out of form Jacek Gollob. Wiltshire will compete with Chrzanowski and Iversen for a place in the starting line-up. Pawel Hlib started the season at reserve but didn´t score well, Chris Harris came in instead and has scored heavily ever since. Västervik: 1. Tomasz Chrzanowski 6.04 2. Todd Wiltshire 7.00 3. Bjarne Pedersen 8.21 4. Sebastian Ulamek 6.82 5. Tomasz Gollob 7.88 6. Chris Harris 4.65 7. *Anders Ljung 2.22 8. Billy Forsberg 2.00 Total: 42.82 (Niels-Kristian Iversen 6.03) (Pawel Hlib 5.08) (Robert Miskowiak 4.64) (*Robert Johansson 3.96) (*Jörgen Hultgren 3.46) Will do the Allsvenskan line-ups another time.
  14. That´s the way it used to be, nowadays it´s a fixed 43.15 maximum average (excluding bonus points). God knows it a difficult thing to explain, I certainly can´t explain it without using a rule book, and even then I can´t explain what the advantages are with such a system.
  15. OK, thanks! Bad luck for Rzeszow then as the 4-2 turned into a 2-4 when Holta had an engine failure.
  16. Does the aggregate team bonus point exist in Poland? If so, which team got the bonus point in this match? Tarnow beat Rybnik 48-42 last week which should make it 90-90 in aggregate score...

Easy double victory to start off the evening, riders streched out on a straight at the end. 2 [66.2]: Ruud, Zetterström, Jonasson, Schlein (Ef). 4-2, 9-3. Zetterström passed Jonasson on lap one but team mate Schlein slowed down on lap two and Ruud passed him, then on the following lap Schlein packed up completely while on a 3-3. 3 [66.2]: Ferjan, Hampel, Jedrzejak, Okoniewski. 3-3, 12-6. Hampel gated but Ferjan swooped Hampel on bend four of the opening lap for the win. Jedrzejak a definite third ahead of Okoniewski. 4 [66.0]: Holta, Protasiewicz, Schlein, Ruud (Fx). 3-3, 15-9. Ruud fell while third on a 4-2 but Holta gated once again in the re-run to save a tied heat. 5 [66.3]: Ljung, Okoniewski, Zetterström, Jonasson. 3-3, 18-12. Ljung passed Okoniewski on the opening lap, after that all riders found their positions for an undramatic event. 6 [66.3]: Hampel, Gustafsson, Jedrzejak, Laukkanen. 4-2, 22-14. Excellent heat even though there where no passes, you could throw a blanket of the top three and Gustafsson was so close to passing Hampel on the final lap but just couldn´t make it. Laukkanen never in it. 7 [65.3]: Ljung, Richardson, Okoniewski, Ferjan. 5-1, 27-15. Good gate by Okoniewski on the inside but Ljung passed him on the outside of bend two. Richardson followed Ljung´s example and passed Okoniewski on the outside as well, on bend four of the opening lap. Ferjan surprisingly way off in this one. 8 [66.5]: Hampel, Jedrzejak, Protasiewicz, Schlein. 5-1, 32-16. Home pair by miles. 9 [65.9]: Ruud, Holta, Gustafsson, Laukkanen. 5-1, 37-17. Easy victory for Ruud while Holta tucked in behind him to keep an eye on Gustafsson for a paid win. 10 [66.6]: Richardson, Zetterström, Protasiewicz, Jonasson. 3-3, 40-20. Zetterström made a good gate and tried to block Richardson from the outside on bends one/two but Richardson was persistent and continued around Zetterström for the win. Jonasson not really close in this one. 11 [66.2]: Ruud, Zetterström, Schlein, Jonasson (Ef). 3-3, 43-23. Not much drama, but Jonasson had an engine failure while last on the second lap. 12 [66.5]: Holta, Ferjan, Jedrzejak, Laukkanen. 4-2, 47-25. Holta by a country mile but behind him, Ferjan passed Jedrzejak for the split of the home pair. 13 [67.0]: Hampel, Ljung, Gustafsson, Okoniewski. 5-1, 52-26. Ljung gated, trapped Gustafsson on the inside line so Hampel could blast around the entire field on the opening bends for another 5-1. 14 [66.9]: Holta, Richardson, Ferjan, Protasiewicz ®. 5-1, 57-27. Another gating lesson from the home pair. Protasiewicz gave up on lap three. 15 [66.5]: Richardson, Protasiewicz, Ljung, Zetterström. 4-2, 61-29. A different Protasiewicz showed up for this as he showed some fighting spirit as he passed Ljung on the opening lap to deny him of his maximum, but Richardson was long gone. "Zorro" not close behind to Ljung in the later stages but not really close enough for a pass. 16 [66.9]: Holta, Ferjan, Hampel, Schlein (Ef). 4-2, 65-31. Schlein had en engine failure while fourth on the second lap while his team mate showed he was the best away rider by keeping a fighting Hampel at the back. Dreadful weather during the entire day couldn´t stop VMS Elit from securing a crushing 65-31 win infront of the home crowd. The rain stopped twenty minutes before the start which was eventually delayed due to track work, a track which turned out to be very good after some new material had been put on. Unfortunately it wasn´t particulary interesting as the home side simply outclassed Indianerna today. For VMS Elit, Richardson looked ultra fast. Ljung likewise but was probably caught napping in his final heat when Pepe came from nowhere. Hampel was good. Jedrzejak, the stylish Pole, did a steady job as a second string. Holta was untouchable, simple as that. Ruud gated well and fell while chasing for another one in heat fourth, good enough anyway. Jonasson started well and mixed it to some degree with the opposition reserves, but faded. For Indianerna, Gustafsson looked fast and tried hard for his points, worth more. Laukkanen had his worst ever meeting in Vetlanda, never close to a single point really, such a shame as he can be really good around the track. Ferjan was the pick of Indianerna, despite his blimp in his second. Okoniewski didn´t do much in the main body. Protasiewicz didn´t look interested until his final heat in which he showed some fighting spirit but a paid seven is not good enough. Zetterström beat Jonasson four times but rode well against the others and was actually worth his paid eight in the end. Schlein was unlucky in his first (gremlins while leading) and didn´t recover (on his spare bike?). Man of the match: Rune Holta Most exciting rider: Matej Ferjan *-*-* CURRENT STANDING: 1. 18. Excellent choice of trip I would say. All the information you need is available at: http://www.vmselit.nu/grandfinal/ English version available. If you have more questions which you can´t find an answer on the website, feel free to ask.
  19. You are not the only one, it is a bloody ridiculous way to calculate averages and I can´t understand the advantages for doing so...or actually explain it without using a rule book. Maddas69 has provided the link above, just look under "What are the rules for team selection in the Swedish leagues?" for an example. An exclusion for exceeding two minutes count as a ride as the rider isn´t replaced by a reserve.
  20. Don´t know if there are any Norrköping people on the forum who knows the town inside out, but I´ve gathered some information via a couple of websites. * TRAVEL BY BUS For information regarding bus routes, visit the link below. Big map of Norrköping bus routes (www.ostgotatrafiken.se) From Resecentrum (Travel Center) take number 3 bus towards "Klockaretorpet", leave at stop "Hörsalsparken", just a few stops away from Travel Center. Route 3 is one of the main routes for bus traffic in Norrköping and seems to go every ten minutes. Route 3 time table is available at: www.ostgotatrafiken.se (route 3 time table) After leaving bus 3 at "Hörsalsparken", enter "Repslagaregatan" (street) and shortly you´ll find the "Hörsalen" stop where you´ll wait for bus 116 towards "Lindö". Leave at stop "Kråkvilan" and then you´ll have a five minute walk to the track. The bus seems to go every 20 minute in the afternoon/evening. Route 116 time table is available at: www.ostgotatrafiken.se (route 116 time table) After the meeting, bus 116 heads back towards the city center every 30 minutes later in the evening. * TRAVEL BY TAXI Taxibil i Östergötland +46 11 10 01 00 Vikbolandets Taxi +46 11 16 00 00 Taxikurir +46 11 14 00 00 The stadium ain´t that far from either the city center or travel center so it shouldn´t be that expensive. My choice would be taxi even though it´s more expensive than bus, but it´s much more convenient (sp?). * DESTINATION NORRKÖPING The tourist site for Norrköping is available at: Destination Norrköping (English version) There you´ll find all possible accomodations, hotel, B&B´s or whatever you like. Centric Hotel, http://www.centrichotel.se (English version available), looked a good bet, a single bedroom for 465 SEK (approx. £34) during summer period 17/6-8/8 isn´t particulary expensive IMO. The hotel is located in the city center as well. There you go, that´s some information, if you need more, just ask!

A really entertaining heat to start up the night, Richardson and Watt had a fine battle, passing and re-passing each other. Behind them, Ljung had a dodgy ride. 2 [59.8]: Ruud, Jonasson, Norris, Lanham. 1-5, 5-7. Lanham fell on the first bend but remounted. Jonasson stuck to the white line and Norris couldn´t pass him even though he was fairly close. 3 [60.0]: Screen, Hampel, Nermark, Paluch. 4-2, 9-9. Hampel gated but left the white line and Screen went under him on bend two to cruise away for an easy victory. Paluch locked-up and almost fell on the first lap and was never in contention after that. 4 [60.0]: Ruud, Klingberg, Lanham, Holta. 3-3, 12-12. Holta opened up the entire field on the openings bend, allowing Ruud to cut back for the lead. Holta went very wide, hit the fence and almost fell off but was able to continue, though without making any ground on the home pair. 5 [59.8]: Watt, Norris, Ruud, Paluch (M). 5-1, 17-13. Paluch excluded for exceeding the two minute time allowance, the remaining riders from the gate. 6 [60.3]: Screen, Nermark, Ljung, Richardson (Ef). 5-1, 22-14. Screen all the way. Nermark passed Ljung after one lap and force himself pass Richardson on the inside entering bend one of the following lap, would have been a horrendous crash if Richardson had not left his line, but he did. On the next lap he had an engine failure at the back. 7 [59.7]: Watt, Zagar, Richardson, Hampel. 5-1, 27-15. Tapes to flag. 8 [60.3]: Screen, Nermark, Holta, Ruud. 5-1, 32-16. Home pair by miles. 9 [60.4]: Ljung, Lanham, Klingberg, Richardson. 3-3, 35-19. The four riders were evenly spread out on the track in this one. 10 [60.3]: Holta, Norris, Zagar, Ljung. 3-3, 38-22. From the gate. 11 [61.2]: Ruud, Lanham, Norris, Jonasson (F). 3-3, 41-25. Jonasson passed Norris for third place on the opening lap but locked-up on lap three and fell, gifting Norris a paid second. 12 [60.4]: Hampel, Klingberg, Nermark, Holta. 3-3, 44-28. From the gate. The most "exciting" thing that happened was exiting bend four of lap one when Nermark fenced Klingberg who amazingly stayed on to keep Holta behind. 13 [60.0]: Screen, Richardson, Watt, Ruud. 4-2, 48-30. Richardson gated but couldn´t stop Screen who flew past Richardson on the outside of bend two. 14 [59.7]: Zagar, Holta, Klingberg, Hampel. 4-2, 52-32. Holta made the gate but went wide on the opening bend, Zagar rode a tight first/second bend to overtake the lead and the win. Hampel never in it. 15 [60.6]: Ljung, Richardson, Zagar, Klingberg. 1-5, 53-37. From the gate, but Zagar all over Richardson for second. 16 [59.6]: Screen, Hampel, Holta, Watt. 3-3, 56-40. The unstoppable Screen completed his maximum with ease but Watt was dead last from the gate so VMS Elit gained the bonus point. Well, you never know what to expect from a VMS Elit side at the Norrköping track, the performence on Tuesday evening was very poor in a combination of a fired-up home side. Vargarna outsmarted VMS Elit for the opening heats, outgated them before the interval and generally outrode and outfought the guests. Vargarna fully deserved the win and the only thing VMS Elit can be happy about is the bonus point, which looked like going to Vargarna as well, and the scores from the reserves. For Vargarna, Zagar was not the most outstanding home rider this time, but tried hard and fully earned his points. Watt started like a train but faded, just like the score suggests. Screen was untouchable, simple as that. Nermark had a couple of scary moments but scored well and that´s what really matters. Klingberg was OK. Lanham was solid but unspectactular. Norris had a couple of good heats and a couple of weak ones, flattered with a paid eight. For VMS Elit, Richardson didn´t do much, seemed down on power or perhaps too much power which he couldn´t generate to speed on the track, not good enough. Ljung looked good when taking the lead, all of you can count how many times that was. Hampel good when gating, not much else. Paluch had a nightmare, didn´t really get a chance to prove himself. Holta was often left behind from the gate and therefore didn´t score. Ruud blew hot and cold. Jonasson did better than expected, beat Norris fair and square in his opening ride and passed him before giving away the point with a fall. Rode according to plan, calmed and close to the inside line and should come good during the season. SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 1 Tuesday May 2nd 2006 VÄSTERVIK - MASARNAAVESTA 46-50 Attendence: 2684 MasarnaAvesta, without Tony Rickardsson, pulled off an upset by turning around a 33-39 deficit to a 50-46 win in only four heats. Leigh Adams was in extraordinary form with a paid 21 maximum with solid back-up from both Lindbäck and Lindgren. At reserve, Sebastian Aldén kept the meeting against the opposition reserves close, only losing by a total of 8-9 against Johansson/Harris, numbers that should have been bigger for Västervik if they had counted on a win. Didn´t take notes regarding the heats, and my memory is much too week (even though I´m fairly young and I´m too tired as well) to remember most details, but some rider comments though... For VMS Elit, Richardson was a bit of a questionmark after a couple of sub-standard performences in the British league, but the doubts were not in order as he performed a good meeting, looked quick. Ljung gated like a rocket and will be a definite asset of VMS Elit. Hampel was a bit trouble by Zagar in the last one but seems to have found the quickest way around Vetlanda already in his first meeting for the club. Excellent. Jedrzejak had a solid second string score, but lacked speed and was passed on several occasions. Crump had an engine failure while leading, would have been a maximum man otherwise. Ruud had a nightmare with two Ef's, one as second and one on a paid win, unlucky but he will come good. Jonasson mixed it in several races but have a bit longer to go before scoring regulary, the track conditions were probably not entirely to his liking this time. For Vargarna, Klingberg can so much better, had only one good ride. Hurry was never close to a point. Norris rode better than the score suggested, that must be said, his exclusion in heat three was very harsh and it looked like Jedrzejak should have been excluded but it didn´t happen. However, Norris won´t be a force around the Vetlanda track, that´s the way it is, but should score much better next week. Screen looked OK and fairly quick but faded towards the end. Zagar was always in contention and worth the points he got. Bergström beat Jonasson three times but seemed a lot better overall than before at this track. Watt was very good, provided some stiff opposition but faded dramatically after a strong start. Will score regulary in Elitserien and seems to be a good newcomer for Vargarna. Man of the match: Jaroslaw Hampel Most exciting rider: Dave Watt *-*-* NEXT WEEK - ROUND 2 - MAY 9TH 2006: Rospiggarna - Indianerna Luxo Stars - Smederna Piraterna - Bajen Speedway MasarnaAvesta - Västervik Vargarna - VMS Elit
  24. Tomorrow, on May 2nd, the Swedish Elitserien starts. Below you´ll find some comments regarding the opening round, and line-ups of course. VÄSTERVIK - MASARNAAVESTA Last season champion Västervik open up their season at home in the round´s most interesting meeting, against MasarnaAvesta (previously Masarna). Pawel Hlib and Chris Harris makes their Västervik debut after signing from Kaparna during the winter, but the management duo of Olsson/Johansson have surprisingly left Niels-Kristian Iversen out of the line-up and opted for Tomasz Chrzanowski at number one. MasarnaAvesta field an excellent top five, newcomer Lukas Dryml (from Vargarna) usually rides very well at Västervik and with the other four classy riders, MasarnaAvesta will always be a tough team to beat. Much pressure will be on Sebastian Aldén to limit the damages in the two reserve heats as they can´t rely on Johan Liljegren to beat either Harris or Johansson. A wide open meeting which could go either way. Västervik didn´t lose a meeting at home last year but could be in trouble if they can´t find a way to handle Seb Aldén at reserve for MasarnaAvesta. Sebastian Aldén (8. Robin Bergqvist) Team Manager: Anders Fröjd BAJEN SPEEDWAY - PIRATERNA Newcomers Bajen Speedway from capital Stockholm start the season without Nicki Pedersen in the line-up. Instead of choosing the Riders Replacement option, manager Ruben Lindeborg has opted for a team with strength in depth to match the oppostion reserve duo of Davidsson/Andersson. Adam Skornicki and Jesper B Jensen could be busy boys if anyone of the others struggle. Piotr Swiderski makes an interesting start after smashing most opposition in Allsvenskan last season while Stefan Dannö, late replacement for the retired Peter Nahlin, goes straight into the team at number five. Piraterna have a team similar to Bajen Speedway (in this round), without a real star name like Rickardsson in MasarnaAvesta or Jonsson in Luxo Stars. Robert Kosiecha is back from Rospiggarna and takes a place in the opening line-up instead of Damian Balinski, a bit surprising to be honest. So the two teams looks evenly matched and to predict an outcome is surely tricky, but as this will be Bajen Speedway´s first meeting at home, and without Nicki Pedersen, the Pirates have an excellent opportunity to an away win in this opening round of Elitserien. Bajen Speedway: 1. Joonas Kylmäkorpi 2. Jonas Davidsson 3. Piotr Swiderski 4. Freddie Eriksson © 5. Stefan Dannö 6. Adam Skornicki 7. Jesper B Jensen (8. Tomas Karlsson) Team Managers: Fredrik Staaf/Per Linde SMEDERNA - LUXO STARS After the losses of Nicki Pedersen and Jesper B Jensen to Bajen Speedway during the off-season, Smederna are looking to newcomers Robert Sawina and Wieslaw Jagus to match the points scored by Pedersen/Jensen. Scott Nicholls take over as the number one of the team, the one to producing big point totals for the team. The predictions are there every season, that "this season will be Scott´s", it hasn´t materialised yet, but it could happen now. The same could be said about Hans Andersen in Luxo Stars who seems to be racking up points everywhere and this is the season he should break through in style in Sweden, proving BSI made the wrong choice regarding the Wild Cards. Andreas Jonsson could be missing this meeting, no definite news have been published yet though. With doubts over Jonsson and Max still recovering from his last season injury, Luxo Stars could be in trouble at Smederna. The home team must be considered favourites for this one, especially as Howe/Andersson looks a bit stronger down at reserve as well. Smederna: 1. Billy Hamill © 2. Robert Sawina 3. Krzysztof Kasprzak 4. Wieslaw Jagus 5. Scott Nicholls 6. Eric Andersson 7. David Howe (8. Linus Eklöf) Team Managers: Ingvar Ånstad/Pierre Gustafsson Luxo Stars: 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Mikael Max 3. Hans Andersen © 4. Charlie Gjedde 5. Peter Karlsson 6. Robin Törnqvist 7. Ulrich Östergaard (8. Ricky Kling) Team Managers: Daniel Nelson/Morgan Andersson INDIANERNA - ROSPIGGARNA A crucial meeting for the lower regions in the final standings is already taking place in the first round action of Elitserien. Indianerna welcomes Matej Ferjan from Västervik and he should be a solid signing backing-up Piotr Protasiewicz. Much points should also come for Rafal Okoniewski and Magnus Zetterström, one of several strong reserve duos in the opening round. Another strong duo is definitely the Slabon/Staszewski combination in Rospiggarna. They should be good enough too score plenty of points beside Greg Hancock and Janusz Kolodziej, the latter could be the trumph card for Rospiggarna in the fight to avoid relegation. With the home track advantage, Indianerna should edge out Rospiggarna in this one. In reality it looks wide open though, much depends on if Kolodziej could step up as a genuine heat leader behind Hancock, but even if that happen I have a feeling the second strings will prove decisive in this one. Indianerna: 1. Rory Schlein 2. Henrik Gustafsson © 3. Matej Ferjan 4. Kaj Laukkanen 5. Piotr Protasiewicz 6. Rafal Okoniewski 7. Magnus Zetterström (8. Simon Gustafsson) Team Manager: Rikard Andersson Rospiggarna: 1. Greg Hancock © 2. Karol Zabik 3. Janusz Kolodziej 4. Travis McGowan 5. Sam Ermolenko 6. Chris Slabon 7. Mariusz Staszewski (8. Jonas Messing) Team Manager: Mikael Messing VMS ELIT - VARGARNA Last years silver medalist VMS Elit starts up at home to Vargarna. The Vetlanda outfit welcomes Jaroslaw Hampel and Peter Ljung into the team, Ljung actually started his career in the VMS Elit 80cc team several years ago. Rune Holta was nominated to ride at number five but will miss his first league meeting since 2001 after a crash in Poland on Sunday, squad member Jason Crump will take his place in the line-up. Vargarna, a candidate for the relegation spot, comes to Vetlanda without Adam Shields and will rely heavily on Matej Zagar and Niklas Klingberg who rides the track well. The British duo of Norris and Screen have several points to prove after some bad scores at the track in recent years. Team manager Åke Bergström originally nominated Dave Watt as number 2 and Emil Lindqvist as number 7, but with the signing of Paul Hurry it seems he will take the number 2 jacket while Watt drops to reserve instead of Lindqvist. That move would definitely make Vargarna stronger, but VMS Elit should win this comfortable. However, next week at Vargarna will be something much different... VMS Elit: 1. Lee Richardson 2. Peter Ljung 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 4. Tomasz Jedrzejak 5. Jason Crump 6. David Ruud 7. Thomas H Jonasson (8. Robin Aspegren) Lagl. Christian Fridh Vargarna: 1. Niklas Klingberg © 2. Dave Watt (Paul Hurry) 3. David Norris 4. Joe Screen 5. Matej Zagar 6. Andreas Bergström 7. Emil Lindqvist (Dave Watt) (8. John Larsson) Lagl.
