SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 9 Tuesday June 26th 2007 *-*-* MASARNAAVESTA - VÄSTERVIK 50-46 Attendence: 2458 For the second consecutive week, the pairing of Adams/Lindbäck scored a 5-1 in heat 16 to win another meeting for MasarnaAvesta. League leading Västervik, without Tomasz Gollob and Tomasz Chrzanowski, were obviously there for the taking and lost the first meeting of the season. I fully agree with that, if someone is wrong, then warnings should be use and the rider in question won't try these things in upcoming heats, otherwise risking exclusions.
-
Of course, but if the referee doesn't warn a specific rider for "delaying the start" or "bad start disciplin", it's hard for the speaker to say any more details than the general saying "the referee wasn't happy". Generally I would say the speaker could only say things regarding incidents that the referee tells/allows him to do.
-
Didn't the speaker say it was because the referee wasn't satisfied overall with the start? Well, I can't remember how specific he actually was. In the rulebook it is several "rules" for how a speaker/announcer should act, unfortunately I don't have a rulebook at home . I'll send you a private PM when I have looked it up.
-
Overall, it was two messy starts, the referee wasn't happy at all as the riders moved and jumped the tapes. With the risk of being accused of being biased , I would say Jesper B Jensen actually was the most quilty part, and to a lesser extent Rune Holta.
-
It just proves how hard it is being a speedway referee. I spend most meetings in Vetlanda in the referee's box (doing live updates among other things) and for a ref to make decisions on falls/situations on bend two and three are - by far - the most difficult on the track, especially if the rider on the inside line charges under another rider with him falling.
-
Even though it was on the first/second bend and it usually means all 4 back when somebody fall, I thought the referee made the correct decision from my position exiting the second bend. Jari drifted wide (possibly picked up some unwanted grip from the inside line) and Lennart Persson fell. I'm not 100% sure it was contact between them but it looked that way, either way Jari took his line and if Persson wouldn't have laid down as he saw Jari coming, I think it would been a bigger crash. The pass in heat 16? Well, Christ, I don't know how he managed to squeeze by Krister Jacobsen and the fence going down the backstraight entering bend three, it surely was "a mans work" - excellent!
-
BTW, what would a Finnish rider get as a starting average in Premier League? 5.00 if he has no experience of top league action in Poland or Sweden, am I correct? Well, I'm going to write something that will surely make f-s-p's day... I have seen Jari Mäkinen a couple of times, this afternoon I saw him in a league match for the first time, riding for Team Canvac against Nässjö (in Nässjö) in the Swedish Division 1 league. He definitely looked to to be the most talented rider on show, a stylish rider with good control on the bike. However, IMO he would probably need a couple of seasons in the Allsvenskan league before considering a Premier League season. I'm also a bit of a fan of Juha Hautamäki, possibly because he has ridden my home track Vetlanda very well on several occasions. I think he would be able to hold his average as a 5.00 second string. Over to you f-s-p!
-
I will. It will definitely be a different meeting at Gubbängen, we didn't ride the best of matches there last season and defending only a two point lead will be tough for sure, but it is a fixture not to be missed!
-
I'm so happy! All feelings are overwhelming! Coming from eight points back with only four heats to go and winning in a last heat decider...OH MY GOD! - Holta coming from third to first to win heat 14 - Zabik and Jankowski flew from the gate in heat 15 to team ride home for a double victory - out of the blue - Pedersen gating in heat 16 only to be passed by Holta on the second lap for the win I'm full of admiration for the fighting spirit in the Elit Vetlanda camp tonight, against a strong Hammarby side. Newcomers Karol Zabik and Lukasz Jankowski made their Elit Vetlanda debut and scored a crucial double victory when it really mattered, they will provide much scoring throughout the remainder of the season. ELIT VETLANDA 49 1. Karol Zabik 1-1-N-0-N-3 = 5 (4) 2. Peter Ljung 0-2-0-N = 2 (3) 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 2-3-3-2-2*-1 = 13+1 (6) 4. Tomasz Jedrzejak 0-0-N-N = 0 (2) 5. Rune Holta 3-2-2-3-3-3 = 16 (6) 6. I'll echo that, surprising to me but nevertheless - well done Simon!

The latest information is that Olsson has suffered severe head injuries. Vargarna chairwoman Thina Johansson confirms to TT (news agency Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå) that is was "a very serious accident". -It was an accident and he had bad luck. *-*-* http://www.nt.se/nyheter/artikel.aspx?articleid=609513 Vargarna rider seriously injured Vargarna rider Kenny Olsson was seriously injured in an accident in tonight's meeting. According to information given to NT (local paper Norrköpings Tidningar) he was injured after crashing into the safety fence. He was brought to hospital by ambulance. According to information received from the hospital he has severe head injuries and has been given help breathing. Vargarna chairwoman Thina Johansson confirms to TT (news agency Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå) that is was "a very serious accident". -For now I have no other comments than that. It was in the seventh heat that the crash occured, according to Vargarna's clerk of the course Jonny Boström. TT: Was it two riders that collided? -Well, it was actually three riders and one of them was close to the fence. The meeting has been abandoned since half an hour ago. We will remain here and wait to see if we can get any information about his status, he says. TT: Did you see the accident happen? Yes, unfortunately. But I don't want to talk about in, he says. KEEP FIGHTING KENNY!

ELIT VETLANDA - INDIANERNA After two previous losses, Elit Vetlanda finally won at home, by a big margin. The meeting was closer than the score suggests but the top riders of the home side were just too strong for the away team, winning the four final heats with a combined score of 18-6, making the final score probably bigger than it should have been. The meeting was one of the better in Vetlanda for a long time; - Hampel chasing hard to pass fast-gasting Okoniewski of the final lap in heat 3 - Holta and Protasiewicz with an amazing battle in heat 4 - Laukkanen's last bend blast around Ljung in heat 5 This is just to mention a few of the entertaining heats throughout the evening. Full credits to both teams for pulling off a great show! Elit Vetlanda 59 1. Lee Richardson 3-2-3-3-2* = 13+1 (5) 2. Peter Ljung F-2-N-2* = 4+1 (3) 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 3-3-3-3-3 = 15 (5) 4. Tomasz Jedrzejak 1-1-2*-0-1 = 5+1 (5) 5. Rune Holta 3-2-1-1-3 = 10 (5) 6. Adam Skornicki 3-1-1*-1*-3 = 9+2 (5) 7. Niklas Larsson N-N-N-2* = 2+1 (1) 8. Robin Aspegren 1-0-M = 1 (3) Indianerna 36 1. Magnus Zetterström 2-0-3-3-1-0 = 9 (6) 2. Roman Povazhny 1*-2-0-N-F = 3+1 (4) 3. Matej Ferjan R-3-2-2*-0-1 = 8+1 ()6) 4. Rafal Okoniewski 2-1-R-0 = 3 (4) 5. Piotr Protasiewicz 2-1-Fx-2-2 = 7 (5) 6. Simon Gustafsson N-N-N-N = 0 (0) 7. Kaj Laukkanen 2-0-3-0-Ef = 5 (5) 8. Ludvig Lindgren F-1 = 1 (2) For Elit Vetlanda, Richardson was razor sharp from the gate and determined throughout the heats. Ljung started will a fall in his comeback but progressed as the meeting went along. Hampel was excellent, hopefully this will boost his confidence after a slow start to the season. Jedrzejak did OK, a solid second string performence. Holta never looked exceptionally quick but still had a double digit score. Skornicki did very well, his first really good performence in Vetlanda, won both reserve heats and picked up points in the rest, celebrating with a donut after his fifth ride, much to the crowd's delight. Larsson came into heat 11 and showed no respect, was ahead of Laukkanen when the latter suffered an engine failure. Aspegren tried hard but lost a silly point when his dirt deflector wasn't on while coming to the tapes in the re-run of heat 10, his time - and points - will come. For Indianerna, Zetterström tried hard as always and won two heats in World Champion style but faded towards the end. Povazhny did what could be expected of him from the main body of the team, against Elit Vetlanda away. Ferjan blow hot and cold, his score doesn't lie! Okoniewski had an amazing jump from the tapes in his first heat, but has never seemed to like the Vetlanda track, going through a bad period as well, or so it seems. Protasiewicz was always in the thick of action, worth more. Laukkanen didn't make a gate all night but tried the best he could, had a fine win from the back in heat 5. Lindgren crashed heavily in his first ride, just before the finish line but walked back to the pit relatively unharmed. Man of the match: Jaroslaw Hampel Most exciting rider: Piotr Protasiewicz *-*-* Six meetings may not be enough statistical data to make statement regarding rider's performences so far, but anyway... Where was Grigorij Laguta? He looked great in the Daugavpils Grand Prix last season, IMO the Latvians could have been able to produce a major shock with him in the team yesterday. -
SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 5 - PREVIEW The following line-ups have been nominated, as of Sunday evening, for the 5th round of the Swedish Elitserien which will be held on Tuesday, weather permitting... PIRATERNA 1. Grzegorz Walasek, 2. Michal Szczepaniak, 3. Kenneth Bjerre, 4. Mikael Max, 5. Ryan Sullivan, 6. Damian Balinski, 7. Tobias Ingesson, 8. Christian Ingesson VÄSTERVIK 1. Bjarne Pedersen, 2. Chris Harris, 3. Tomasz Gollob, 4. Niels-Kristian Iversen, 5. Sebastian Ulamek, 6. Billy Forsberg, 7. Tomasz Chrzanowski, 8. Viktor Bergström The Pirates have replaced Stefan Andersson from last week with Damian Balinski who will enter at reserve. Västervik have nominated Billy Forsberg at six but rumours are that Billy is sick and will be replaced by Viktor Bergström. Västervik, the only team with all wins after four rounds, have won all three meetings in Motala since Piraterna entered Elitserien back in 2004, and their solid line-up will once again be hard to beat and Västervik may actually be favourites in my eyes. *-*-* MASARNAAVESTA 1. Billy Hamill, 2. Simon Stead, 3. Antonio Lindbäck, 4. Dave Watt, 5. Leigh Adams, 6. Daniel Davidsson, 7. Linus Sundström, 8. Robin Bergqvist SMEDERNA 1. Rory Schlein, 2. Eric Andersson, 3. Krzysztof Kasprzak, 4. Krzysztof Buczkowski, 5. Wieslaw Jagus R/R, 6. Linus Eklöf, 7. Morten Risager, 8. Robert Henderson The Blacksmiths faces a tough task at Avesta. Wieslaw Jagus will be missing and Riders Replacement will be used to cover his absence, but fellow Pole Krzysztof Buczkowski will be missing as well. After his crash in Poland on Sunday, Buczkowski will be gone for about a month according to local paper Eskilstuna-Kuriren. It is assumed that Andre Compton will take the number 4 race jacket. MasarnaAvesta are at full strenght as they have opted to bring Leigh Adams into the line-up for this one, making the home side huge favourites in the progress. *-*-* DACKARNA 1. Hans Andersen, 2. Peter Karlsson, 3. Fredrik Lindgren, 4. Christian Hefenbrock, 5. Andreas Jonsson, 6. Robin Törnqvist, 7. Ricky Kling, 8. Joachim Engstrand KAPARNA 1. Rafal Szombierski, 2. Chris Louis, 3. Rafal Dobrucki, 4. Kim Jansson, 5. Renat Gafurov, 6. Tomas Karlsson, 7. Stefan Dannö, 8. Mikael Berntsson Kaparna, last in the standing, will surely be on the wrong side of another hammering. Stefan Dannö takes a place at reserve instead of Pawel Hlib. Does Hlib ride elsewhere? Dackarna have scrathed Charlie Gjedde for this one, replaced by Christian Hefenbrock who makes his season debut. Robin Törnqvist regains his place at reserve instead of Emil Kramer, despite Kramer's paid seven in Vetlanda last week. *-*-* INDIANERNA 1. Niklas Klingberg, 2. Magnus Zetterström, 3. Matej Ferjan, 4. Rafal Okoniewski, 5. Piotr Protasiewicz, 6. Roman Povazhny, 7. Simon Gustafsson, 8. Ludvig Lindgren HAMMARBY 1. Jesper B Jensen, 2. Joonas Kylmäkorpi, 3. Nicki Pedersen, 4. Adam Shields, 5. Scott Nicholls, 6. Tomasz Gapinski, 7. Robert Pettersson, 8. Kim Nilsson Henrik Gustafsson remains on the sideline after his crash in Eskilstuna a couple of weeks ago, Roman Povazhny continues at reserve. Niklas Klingberg is back in the line-up instead of Kaj Laukkanen who didn't have the best of days in round four. Nicki Pedersen will be missing after his Eskilstuna crash, Tomasz Gapinski moves to number three while Krzysztof Jablonski takes Gapinski's place at number six, according to Hammarby's website. *-*-* ROSPIGGARNA 1. Greg Hancock, 2. Adrian Miedzinski, 3. Janusz Kolodziej, 4. Travis McGowan, 5. Jonas Davidsson, 6. Chris Slabon, 7. Andreas Messing, 8. Jonas Andersson ELIT VETLANDA 1. Jason Crump R/R, 2. Adam Skornicki, 3. Jaroslaw Hampel, 4. Lee Richardson, 5. Rune Holta, 6. Niklas Larsson, 7. Thomas H Jonasson, 8. Robin Aspegren Rospiggarna are still missing Karol Zabik due to a contract dispute, but are otherwise bolstering a full side, if Travis McGowan makes a comeback after his injury. He was missing for Reading on Monday evening and must be considered a questionmark for Tuesday's meeting. Rospiggarna have a strong record against Elit Vetlanda in Hallstavik, winning the four previous meetings by 49-47, 50-46, 49-47 and 48-47 (last year). Elit Vetlanda have huge problems with injuries at the moment, and will be without Jason Crump for this match, with Riders Replacement in use according to Elit Vetlanda's website. Tomasz Jedrzejak got injured in Poland on Sunday and Peter Ljung is still on the sideline, but both should be back in a not too distant future. The trio of Holta, Hampel and Richardson will surely have 7 heats each as Elit Vetlanda will struggle to keep it close. *-*-* As I will be going to Hallstavik (Rospiggarna), the results may take until Wednesday evening to appear on this thred, unless another forum member will post them.

The test have been held and it resulted in two comfortable wins for Denmark. Sweden - Denmark 37-58 in Järfälla, Saturday May 26th At the moment there are some confusion about the Danish scorers from this one, but Jacob Thorssell (10) and Anders Mellgren (9) were the best for Swedish while Michael Jepsen Jensen (15 maximum) and Thomas Jörgensen (10) were the top two for Denmark. I will update with heat details ASAP. Sweden - Denmark 38-57 in Västervik, Sunday May 27th Heat details are available at: http://www.speedwayresultat.com/2007/lands...7vastervik.html

Kalle seems to has picked up his career on 500cc were he left off from 80cc. It will be interesting to see how he progress during his first season on 500cc and then beyond. Finland really needs some strong names for the future, hopefully Kalle and Jari Mäkinen can blossom into solid league riders. Keep it up!

Yes, he rode very well actually. He was second in his first heat (held a 3-3 with Robert Johansson) when he had his engine failure on the final bend. As he drifted wide, Johansson had to take an even wider line to avoid him, leading to Möller being able to sneak through on the inside for a 5-1 instead... Craig didn't always make the best of starts, but he rode some clever first/second bends to sneak through on the inside several times, and while infront he looked very quick. Much better than expected TBH.

SWEDISH ALLSVENSKAN LEAGUE - ROUND 3 Thursday May 24th 2007 After almost ten months on the sideline following his horrifying crash in Poland last season, David Ruud was back in the saddle on Thursday evening. David, back in his parent club Lejonen for seasoning, was by far the best gater in the line-ups and after an inital last place, David came along better as the meeting went along, finishing with two wins in a row, heat 14 and 15. The Lions won by ten points infront of a 1023 crowd, despite being down by six (21-27) midway through the match. David Ruud and tactical substitute Mariusz Staszewski combined for a double victory in heat 9, and when they did it again in heat 14, Lejonen were ahead once again. The former WTC gold medalist took the checkered flag in the first nomination heat, and with Ronnie Jamrozy in third, Lejonen clinched the victory with one heat to go. Heat 16 proved to be a fantastic heat with Staszewski battling out for first with Watson for the opening laps, then Wegrzyk passed Watson on the final lap for a paid win. Once again it has been a couple of long days, so here's just a short resume from the fourth round of the Swedish Elitserien. SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 4 Tuesday May 22nd 2007 ELIT VETLANDA - DACKARNA 44-52 Attendence: 5944 Dackarna easily won the highly anticipated meeting between the two local rivals, only 45 kilometers separating the two towns. The away team were far better on all accounts this evening and only an eight point loss for Elit Vetlanda flattered the home side. (And that hurts as an Elit Vetlanda fan) Several home riders lacked speed, but credits must be given were it's due. For example; Fredrik Lindgren was excellent, winning heat 1 ahead of Crump/Richardson and then beating Rune Holta and tactical substitution Jason Crump in heat 9, going from third to first, that proved a huge blow for the home side. Elit Vetlanda (home) 44 1. Jason Crump 2-3-1*-3-3-3 = 15+1 (6) 2. Lee Richardson 1*-2-1-2-0-0 = 6+1 (6) 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 1-0-1*-3-3 = 8+1 (5) 4. Adam Skornicki 0-N-N-1* = 1+1 (2) 5. I think you are right, Sweden have six places but no-one seeded directly to Motala. Antonio Lindbäck must feel sure of a place in the Grand Prix 2008 me thinks. AFAIK, Peter Karlsson never entered the competition.

According to local paper Västerviks-Tidningen, Swedish team manager Mats Olsson was furious over all the withdrawals. -"Some riders were injured and couldn't participated, while Magnus Zetterström, Indianerna, couldn't even be bothered to make a phone call to make his withdrawal" says Mats Olsson. -"This is not good for Swedish speedway, it is a huge scandal, simple as that. 26 riders had entered, but only 13 showed up. For next season, we will scrap the Grand Prix qualifier" says Mats Olsson.
