Last year we heard there was supposedly a shortage of riders yet there are four riders now that you suggest may be struggling for a place. Got to wonder if the master plan in dropping the team building averages is a way of getting more NDL riders into the CL at the expense of 4/5pt averaged riders?

Personally I think he is more interested in longtrack meetings abroad and as they are physically more demanding I doubt any League side will get the best of him. Yes he had a good season last year but the number of guest appearances he made is surely an indication of how few out and out No 1s there were given the Birmingham, Newcastle and particularly Plymouth situations. Great entertainer but not at Glasgow again for me.

Plymouth Gladiators 2023

Gone are the days when everyone wanted to ride in BL1. Sadly I doubt British Speedway will reach the heights of 18 teams all having two World class heatleaders and that was before the Eastern block countries opened up. -

When you consider that almost 90% of the riders also rode in the 2nd tier that would suggest that a minority of only 10% of riders could be classed as Elite. But at the end of the day its only a title to make something sound better than it is. -

Indeed though calling the 'top' division "The Elite" was surely a breach of trade descriptions lol. -
Seem to remember the poor guy nearly lost his Crown Jewels in an altrication with the fence at Glasgow.
-
Sorry Poole did finish on just over 43 so it would indeed be just 3pts they have to shed.
-
If there is any young Aussie coming to Glasgow I'd like to think it was Fraser Bowes but I think having two newbies n the ream would be a bit of a gamble
-
When you consider Poole, Leicester and Glasgow are going to drop 4, 5 and 6 points respectively from their final score next year it just shows how much speedway is being diluted. My thoughts are the league winners final average should be the building point for the next season so teams are improving. Maybe we would get some loyalty and riders returning the next year.

For the end of season Silver Helmet?

Thought if he was a Witch he'd have the use of a broomstick ?

Has Paul Starke not announced his retirement stating "he's getting to old to bounce well" or words to that effect?

If King is at Ippo again would he want Glasgow on a Friday?
-
Not so much the M74 as Glasgow Airport perhaps offering better options? Mind you at Berwick he would have had the choice of Edinburgh or Newcastle.
-
Do you think Bickley is worth a punt? Got to agree with Mr Anderson that Lasse, having had a years experience of the track would be a better bet than Bailey while their away potential is probably about the same although Lasse has had less experience.
-
Yeah especially when announcing that someone won't be back.

Sam is going to be a big loss but will be interesting to see who the 7 are

Consideration Ben broke his collarbone just before the play-offs and wasn't expected to be fit he did well to ride.

Getting to the stage where too many Cooks spoil the Forum

Yes Glasgow were about the last
-
Steve Jones (remember him) was driving and spannering for Ace last season when Theo was elsewhere so anything is possible
-
Well at least we know who our 2 pointer is. Question now.must be is dad Theo going to be in the pits beside him as a team mate or mechanic/ adviser?
-
Greaves and Pjiper both being riders are good shouts but as you say James's temperament may cast a doubt and if Theo's son, Ace, was in the team could Theo give as much thought to the rest of the team? I think an ex rider gives you that something extra so what about Matty Weathers if he isn't racing next season though I doubt he could afford the position

More chance of getting Sam Cook to No 1

I'd say older experienced fans who have followed the sport for year and know the tactical game certainly don't have much confidence in him compared to newer fans who don't know the ins and outs yet. We've seen dropped points at home and away which could have made a difference over the years. The one thing a team manager in the pits knows more than the fans is if a particular rider isn't feeling 100% and doesn't feel up to taking a ride the fans would expect him to take. I think also the fact Mr Brown always seems to be the 'voice and face' of the team doesn't give a good impression to the fans.
