  1. Sounds like a sunday league football team turning up without their kit i thought this was a professional sport, why was it only discovered "shortly" before the start time?
  2. If the promoters dont realise how many fans are boycoting meetings already, i doubt if a few more fans doing it would bother them. most must be quite happy with whats going on as i dont see anything, except tinkering, being discussed on how to change things
  3. What a farce this sport is, we get todays "cancellation" and then on TV yesterday we have the world cup with "jokers" being played. why would anyone but the die hards want to support this mess
  4. like i already said Chris, i am not involved in speedway on a day to day basis, i go and watch when i can, or want to, but we heard this same statement so many times in the past, only for other teams to go out and sign someone, only time will tell if another team goes out and signs a rider in the next few days / weeks. dont mind admitting i was wrong if no other team signs anyone before we do it may be true in this case, only time will tell
  5. to be honest, if i am one of the supporters who doesnt go anymore, why would i moan if there wasnt a team to support? after all i dont go, so i dont support a team
  6. Sorry but i have a job that is nothing to do with speedway and dont get the time to look at riders, but i bet another team goes out and signs someone soon
  7. Nice to see some things dont change. the old promotion always said there was never anyone available as well. so i expect no more team changes in the PL this season as there is no one available
  8. deserved one, I thought the ref could award the heat in those circumstances, or is that just wishful thinking on my part
  9. Yes but the southern ones are right dint he ride in international matches for Scotland or is my memory playing tricks
  10. 1968 my first year in speedway is when he rode for us Frank Varey finally had his number 1, think we finished 3rd or fourth our best league position he then went back to the inferior tigers and was replaced by Jim Airey, Sheffields best ever rider PS Only got back off holiday today, now see someone has put the correct year
  11. yes so much interest in this, but the suns out on a thursday night, good chance of a win by the tigers tonight, unless its a draw of course
  12. excellant at home as well as away, great to be able to go away and know a rider would be able to compete with the away teams best riders hi averages in 70 and 71 were amazing considering the amount of matches rode, was it 36 league meetings then?, and with the standard of riders in the league at that time thought the reason given at the time for not coming back was something to do with a business in Australia
  13. As far as i am concerned the best Sheffield rider i have ever seen Consistant scorer home and away, always looking for his team mate, great rider real shame when he decided not to come back
  14. Couldnt agree more, it is the simon stead show at the moment, tells the track graders what to do and then wins by miles, where was the help for poole and compton when he had the chance, why didnt he try and the slow douglas in second instead of flying away into the distance. if he doesnt want to ride as a team he should tell everyone that he is riding for himself and should certainly not be captain
  15. Proctor confirmed, so is the rain i apologise for doubting them in my above post
  16. so proctors not riding and we will have a NL guest in his place but if we announce it it will affect the crowd and as far as i can make out proctor had a visa to ride for wolves and somerset to ride for sheffield he needs a visa to ride for wolves and sheffield, so he has the right type of visa, but with the wrong team on it, may be it should have been for any team begining with S PS raining now and i still say that if the BSPA had refused to grant a facility for Saturday the situation would have been resolved Sheffield tried it on, the BSPA let them
  17. wasnt saying the visa problem was the BSPAs fault, but the situation is. Sheffield should not have been allowed a facility on Saturday night, the fact the were is the BSPAs fault because they allowed it
  18. not at all we were going to use RR for Proctor on Saturday when he was riding for another team, this is the next natural extension of that rule. after all this is speedway and not a well run professional sport
  19. the BSPA have not been put in this position by Sheffield. if Sheffield made the application wrongly, then as the governing body they should have said no, its not Sheffields fault that the BSPA dont know what they are doing
  20. Nothing anywhere to say what the team is with just over 24hrs to go. Not good with people wanting to know whether it will be worth going, especially with the weather looking unsettled as well
  21. was thinking more Sergai Kutzin (spelling?) wouldn't be the first time after all
  22. depends who we sack, who we replace them with and whether they are able ride, and if they cant ride who we can get to use RR instead of quite simple really
  23. Cant all be Sheffield's fault, as they had permission from the management committee, oh and the rain on Thursday didn't help as far as I am concerned if a team signs a rider knowing they will miss fixtures there should be no facility whatsoever for that fixture if that was the case no problem and no need to comment
