  1. but who are they against?.....it is all relative
  2. thats one formidable team and surely the strongest and most in form Aussie team for years If it wasnt for the Pole's ability to practise and fine tune everything at Gorzow then i'd think the Aussies were favourites
  3. thanks FSP that gives a better understanding..... although what is an FMN? apart from Emil's U21 success, i'm not sure what our Russian friends have been successful at.... so I wonder if the likes of Australia start asking for more... they will get them?
  4. i'm not assuming anything there are several ways it could work still not sure you have made it clear tbh TNT
  5. sorry I might be being dense here....... but what is the story with the groups? What are we choosing them on the strength of?
  6. heh yeah don't worry I wasnt going to try to argue that we are on the same footing as the Poles in terms of quality ....... I guess I was just interested in how the powers come to a decision that one country can have 9 and another have 5....... and if it is based on performance then is it performance in the qualifiers themselves ... or overall? cheers
  7. Well done Ben and James Do we know why Artem and Ales dropped out? and to take NathanB's stats further..... why did the Brits enter 5 while the Poles entered 9? Does that mean we could have entered 9 if we had wanted to? Or do quotas exist based on performance?
  8. a very tough round and there was always going to be at least one or two guys disappointed that they didnt do better..... THJ stands out on that score Well done Ed and Danny...... there is something a bit different about the Tedward this season ...... hopefully he can go all the way
  9. being as much a fan of the old road to the world final process as the current GP process I can appreciate a system where its fair for all and the likes of Leigh Lanham get a chance in qualifying next year (if the usual suspects pass on it again) But it really does strike me as a bit stupid that in the first place one of our shining hopes is in effect ruled out of the world championship for a year..... but even more so if the rules havent changed since that .............. surely even if they are not going to allow themselves a facility to let guys who have failed fair and square get back in to the process on a wildcard basis... they should be allowing themselves a potential facility for anyone who was injured at the time of the GB champs semi + final? the carrot and stick approach can be a good one and may well in the future have gone a long way to making guys like Tai understand that he has to fight for things...... but I wonder if we truly have the numbers for that approach to be completely effective..... and where is the facility for injury?
  10. I'm not sure if the process has changed for next year but I do remember Tai kicking up last year after his failure to qualify for the British Final as it meant he would be unable to take part in GP qualifying this season....... his absence from the process seems to confirm that
  11. I might be wrong but based on the hooha of Tai not being able to be in GP qualifying this year... it all goes back to this meeting http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=indiv&action=display&thread=7274 I'm guessing that Bomber and Scott passed on qualifying ... I can see Robbo and Ollie passing up the chance ......but I am suprised that Lewis would
  12. thx Tom All about the gating at this one I reckon
  13. no shocks in that qualifier then..... more chance of shocks in the next few quali's do we know what the Terenzano lineup is yet?
  14. but even more interesting is that Nicki has made a career out of playing both roles .... both diver and basher......... the only time in the GP's he hasn't been a moth to a flame with incidents is when he had rocketships as machinery and the others followed him into the first bend It does work for him though doesnt it? If it didnt Sky wouldnt have been using that trailer of him at the start of the season involving his bad boy antics, crashes, tantrums, titles and more crashes.............. the GP's would be a poorer place without him but I do feel like i'm watching Wrestlemania sometimes .....and I expect the refs to see past it
  15. and this is the post that has made the most sense ...... once it has been established that someone bashed into someone else ... and enough to move them from white line to mid track..... what more do you want in the form of evidence?
  16. There are 4 replays here 1) 5 secs is the angle from the backstraight 2) 13 secs is from directly ahead 3) 23 secs is a partisan bit of slo mo editing 4) 34 secs is from high in the home stand 3) quite frankly is a joke 2) is from the wrong angle which masks the contact and the true effects ... it only serves to show us that Nicki was wildly out of control while tipping his head back..... its 1 and 4 that for me are the key replays............. If you watch Bomber in the 4th replay you can see clearly the line he was taking into the bend and it would have seen him white line it all the way round.......... the contact with Nikki clearly diverted that line and pushed him out mid track.... let alone the effects of the bash replay 1 not only shows how out of control Nicki was but also at the 7 second mark how much Bomber was bashed into and was struggling for control from that point
  17. decent GP all things considered....... masterful performance from Tomasz.... and the top 8 seem to be breaking away now Well done Ole Olsen ... the track was an improvement on what came previously this season and hopefully will help to inject some more life into the championship..... bit concerned at how many red seats were showing amongst the crowd tonight
  18. You seem to be as interested in Nicholls in the British Final as anything else I actually agree with an earlier comment that you made ... that riders sliding off is not good for the sport....... NickiP has plagued the GP's with it for years..... and of course learnt it all from the master and innovator, Hans Nielsen........... the trouble is that when you get a borderline incident of potential sliding off, what should happen? You say NickiP didnt cause it and yet he most certainly made contact enough to shove Bomber out, and also in the path of Crump..... Bomber may well have over reacted whether it was a cynical tactic or anticipation of what he may have believed was trouble Ultimately it was NickiP's out of control bike handling that started the whole domino effect...... and was he really going to gain enough pace down that straight to get in front? Just like was it really going to do any good not cutting back against Antonio? I admire his fighting spirit but the guy is, and always has been a liability......
  19. yes it happened down the straight..... and the effects of it then ran into the bend Nicki P gained some (fake?) lift which increased his speed.... but also gave him little time to gain control .... hence why he went into Bomber It was not Bombers fault that Nicki gained lift ...and yet Nicki made it his issue It is Nicki's job to pass cleanly and the ref's to officiate fairly
  20. the day out of control lifting is ignored in such incidents... is the day i'll be agreeing with you bwitcher
  21. I think this was part of the issue .... after showing the correct angle the first time the production director then concentrated on angles from the other side....... and even for one cut starting it after the contact had happened as if Harris fell off for no reason!
  22. dodgy decision...... even if the production director wanted to ignore nicki being out of control the ref shouldnt have
  23. looks like the draw has been made 1. Holder 2. Hampel 3. Lindback 4. Holta 5. Bjerre 6. Pedersen 7. Sayfutdinov 8. Laguta 9. M.B.Jensen 10. Hancock 11. Crump 12. Kolodziej 13. Jonsson 14. Gollob 15. Lindgren 16. Harris 17. M. Jepsen Jensen 18. K Larsen
