  1. I guess he isn't based on this later story..... for the race off anyway http://speedwaygp.com/news/article/468/scott-family-comes-first
  2. It seemed to me to be the primary and obvious difference last night. This period of dubious gating in the British team has stretched for too long..... it's great to see them come from behind but its not realistic to rely on that at international level...... how to bring about a new approach though?
  3. We arent going to win the competition..... and even if we managed to sneak into the final somehow, we won't be getting on to the podium......so with the greatest of respect what is the point in discussing guys like Stead, Allen, Screen etc? It is unlikely that any of them will be doing a Zorro over the next few years.... Ben Barker's place shouldn't be in question (only his choice of lines on a one line track!) ...... and with Lewis still having the potential and ability to become a top rider it makes sense that he is picked Even if Rico changed his mind in the future, it is still likely that he and Scott will retire or start dropping standard in the next few years........ we have to bring on others to replace them One thing that does bother me is the management of this particular group of guys ..... with Lewis now coming in i'm only counting 2 wise heads in the team......and at times 3 liabilities ..................... What exactly is Tai's issue with the Dryml's? Why does he think national TV is the best place to share it while he is representing GB? and why does he think that if we are to get any grudges going in a match it should be with ..... the Czechs? Is this really who he thinks we were in a battle with last night?
  4. I'm not so sure it was an incorrect decision tbh .... Lukas has a horrible habit of getting a little nasty with the room he doesnt allow In the Gollob/Bomber heat where Loramski wasnt happy about Tomasz's covering of the inside they did allow each other room ..... the move that Tomasz pulled Bomber expected and it was not last second In the Lukas/Bomber heat .....Lukas raced his socks off but like so many times before just didnt allow his rival enough room ........ this was not a case of shutting the door as he wasnt in front enough The thinness of the straights didnt help the issue though for sure completely agree! Ben was no different to other riders before him down the years with his nerves..... Ed was good tonight but I distinctly remember some naive and nervous performances in the past...... what the commentaters didnt pick up on with Ben in his first two rides is that he was riding all the wrong lines..... it therefore isnt suprising that he wasnt going as fast as he could as good as i've seen from that distance I did think that it was a bit odd that they faffed around at the start until a 7:45 start..... doesnt give much scope if there are issues I'm with Impartial One on this....... unless i'm mistaken Rico is owed money .... so ultimately who should be out of pocket here? Rico or the BSPA? ...... and if Rico should pick up some of the slack... shouldnt it be arranged in advance? the honour of representing your country should be the same as the honour of administering the national team ......................... that is very different to not being bothered or not making enough money also...... was I the only one getting more and more annoyed with Krister Gardell allowing those jumping the starts to get away with it? He makes some decent decisions when needed to at times and then lets himself down at times over really basic stuff
  5. made even worse by the fact that he didnt know if Ales was ok or not....... he obviously fell akwardly and could have done his collarbone easily
  6. or if you are Bruce Cribb... slam it back in the pits and go out for your next ride
  7. it's a shame .... in losing Darcy and Pawlicki we've lost two of the exciting young packages who could possibly have made something stick 9 of the guys through are ex GP guys 6 of them have experienced some of the worst seasons in GP history I hope that whoever the final 3 are... secure the necessary sponsorship and team around them to actually compete
  8. It might not be right but it's unlikely we will be britless If Bomber doesnt make the top 8 .... and doesnt get near to the top 8 and justify a WC ......isnt it likely that Tai will be offered a way back in? Love the romance of the world championships but we arent naive about the business side of it are we?
  9. Gorican and Daugavpils are looking very tough fields...... i'm hoping new blood generally out perform the old GP boys ....... although i'd never begrudge Zorro Gonna be a few tears at the end of the day
  10. the world is a great place for Nicki if his bikes are fast if they arent then I would expect the opposite opinion..... along with a string of on track incidents The man is gold dust for the series but IMO because he has made it more about his panto/WWE approach it is difficult to trust what he is saying
  11. i'll be honest I don't like the sound of this as it has the potential to upset the apple cart........ it is IMG's baby and cash cow ... and for that income and stability to be placed into question starts putting question marks over the stability of the whole series Hopefully this is just a case of hardball negotiation
  12. I agree it was only one ride but Tai did himself a massive favour last night ...... as proper speedway fans we know that a reserve gp ride shouldnt even be considered as being significant .....but we also know that any square block will be used to get Brits into the GP's add that to the fact that Tai has been unable to take part in the qualifying this year...... and another year of maturing will be under his belt...... and its an equation that is heading towards a wild card IMO Just don't be suprised if there are two Brits though ....... the change in Ed Kennett this season must have put him in the frame and if he doesnt qualify as of right then a strong performance in the GP qualifying final should strengthen any case he has for a WC........... The thing that bugs me though is something that Henryw touched on last week.... and that is that we are not putting enough riders forward for qualification....... but we are also doing it 2 years in advance.... while not accomodating injury and potentially missing form
  13. MP we have all had spreadsheets that do this for for years ..... what we don't have to do at the same time though is look at the track... look at our screens .... listen to the producer in our ears and then also commentate It's enough to drive anyone insane... let alone inhibit them from making sense.... the point is though that our excel masterpieces are not enough.... they are too small... too fiddly and all those races where every point is vital requires a little calculation which quite frankly they dont have time or concentration for .......... I find myself lost in my monitor screen, comparing wins, 2nds, head to heads etc and suddenly realise that a race is about to start...... good job I didnt have to shout any woo's or wuffy wuffy wuffy's at the same time! re: Sam Ermo ... yes he uses a Kandysoft spreadsheet (the plug I believe you are referring to) but I doubt that what he is doing is being seen by Kelvin or Nigel.... there is probably more chance that they are following the score updates on speedwayworld.tv... or filling their own spreads and stress..... i think you missed my point......... I was talking about this I know the annoyance over this only too well..... The master of getting it wrong or not having it worked out was Tony Millard they look as close to solving the problem as they did 10 years ago....... Nikki is a rider we all want to see. He gives 100% so to critise is poor. he yields to nobody so what. Great rider and a crowd favorite that is some creative editing there Mark I didnt criticise.. you need to read my post again No one is immune from criticism though....... doesn't it all depend on what they have done? I know some of my favourites over the years have visited the dark side at times
  14. what a guy! I'd be delighted if Greg won ................ and it would also be great for the sport
  15. I really really hope you are kidding amen to that...... it took years for this ref to improve.... but still he isnt half the ref that he ought to be...... it was as clear an unsatisfactory start as it ever could be and he really needs to be brought to task over why not only did he allow it to run but why ultimately he had a hand in spoiling the finale of the night MP they have been doing this for as long as I can remember...... On one hand I can understand why it happens when they have so much going on to listen to in their headphones and comment on in general but on the other hand how much would it cost to hire a programmer to devise a program that makes it all very obvious in big bright squares? One laptop with a spreadsheet on it isnt enough while they have to carry out the rest of their duties....... They need a few screens to show the relevant info required in clear form I came to the conclusion a couple of years ago that it will never change ..and now my world on gp night is a more stress free place Now me and Mr Pedersen are like chalk and cheese...... Overall I do not respect him as a rider or his approach............. BUT I have to say he was quality on the night and his aggression was fitting on a track where every inch had to be fought for......... he was clearly not alone in this approach I don't think he did anything wrong in the final and if anything should be commended for what he achieved from gate 1 and for helping to make it a final that will last long in the memory If carnage had happened then the fingers might have rightly been pointed in his direction ... but the fact remains that Greg obviously had room ... and consequently so did Noddy (hmmm defending Nicki............. nurse!) welcome to the forum and I guess the bit in bold is a damning verdict in itself....... this is where in the name of fairness it helps to have a random draw so that those unlucky enough to pull the duff gate twice can only curse bad luck........... but ultimately it doesnt solve the issue What I know about track prep could be written on a postage stamp ......but I do find it staggering that after all these years of speedway, it is still so hit and miss to the extent that an inside gate traditionally known for being more dominant than not... can be so woefully duff
  16. what terrorists are allowed into the country? Ironically though if Great Britain has a list of potential nationalities to be concerned about.... then Russia would be high on the list while things are still so frosty since the Alexander Litvinenko incident
  17. Ive been trying to work it out for a few days and there is only a couple of things that I can think of....... 1) We don't want to send what we perceive as inferior quality riders to represent us on the world stage.... or 2) It costs the powers that be money I'm willing to put all of my chips on the latter being the case...... if it is the former then we can add ego to our list of failings as there is always a chance that an Andy Smith or Zorro will shine...... In recent years it hasnt felt like there has been too much pride in representing GB and maybe opening up more places could encourage a bit more... let alone vital international experience edited: just seen Tomazpozrl's thread
  18. 7 Pedersen 12 Hancock 9 Holder 12 Gollob 30 Aces and Pirates thx for making it clear ImpartialOne
  19. I think this is something that has been made clear in the past Gray....... based on what was said about Crumpie's possible absence I would suggest that Zorro will take on Laguta's 3 points predicted score
