  1. Tough decisions for this round I might edit this before but i'm going for: Hancock 11 Hampel 10 Pedersen 9 Bjerre 7 shame we dont have a loss of points prediction to make because i've got a feeling Tomasz might have a 'mare
  2. oops didnt notice him (not the first time this season )
  3. so who would people like to see qualify from this for the GP's next season? Ward, Kennett and Pawlicki would be a breath of fresh air One thing I can't believe though (with the Terenzano lineup still to be announced) is that there are no current GP riders who have entered
  4. Just seen his Polish average which came as a bit of a shock..... you may be right then
  5. I think i'd go along with that except for maybe it being a toss up between barker and bridger....... maybe the guy who has prepared the best Obviously it was Brits vs Brits the other night but I was pleasantly suprised with some of the racing and the will to win..... despite agreeing with the line that Rico has taken it is almost a shame that he wont be taking part as we are looking better than we have for years now that a few of the guys are maturing
  6. yeah I understand that GW.... often international retirement can strongly prolong a career and this is obviously what he wants What I meant really is that IMO its probably a stronger team to only have one of JD and THJ along with PK rather than both of them and no PK..................... in comparison to the Poles and Danes I think it is the difference on paper between being a serious contender and not........ if its not to be though its not to be
  7. I'm not sure IMG and the venue hosts will be agreeing with you when it comes to venues this season such as Cardiff, Gorican, and maybe even the Danish rounds...... I do wonder though if they have ever been able to quantify this and come up with statistics that back up the local wild card policy As a fan it is noticeable that the wildcards are usually well adrift of semi qualification but theoretically the 16th best rider in the world will be more than not as well, when you look at the records of people like Pepe, Antonio and KK. As frustrating as the wild card can be, they do provide variety, and also a shop window for those trying to get in....... Although he is currently suffering a little, I wonder how important Janusz's performances last season in Leszno and Bydgoszcz were for gaining his season long wild card. What I do think they should try out, if only for 1 or 2 years, is a run of 3 or 4 GP's for 3 riders who IMG and the FIM believe should be there or is strongly knocking on the door..... regardless of nationality..................... so for instance this season that could be Darcy Ward getting the first 4, Grigory Laguta the next 4, PK the next 3 (If he wanted to... why not after what Tomasz has achieved?).................... a possible advantage of doing it like this is that a chosen rider is more likely to invest enough into his equipment and find his feet than if he is in for one round.......another advantage is IMG testing the water with a rider when there are doubts instead of having to take the full plunge, like with Tai.... ................... of course this flies in the face of the current local wild card policy though.... but I wonder just how important that is and what the stats are that back it up if the system didnt work in those 1 or 2 years then they could swap it back
  8. slot PK in there and the Swedes would have a team in with a shout Even better for them though is that in terms of the future they only have Andreas Jonsson approaching retirement and a handful of young guys on the way up and showing pedigree
  9. From where I was sitting Tony Olsson did a good job last season and we were rewarded with some great racing....... if he accomplished that by sitting back and letting the trackmen get on with their jobs then full marks to him because we know that wasnt happening with Ole and it was killing the racing in the competition..................... the test with Tony was always going to be how he handled possible wet weather and Gothenburg showed (rightly or wrongly) that he could deal with it........... I feel that if there is any flak for Tony.... then it is not learning from previous years and not making sure there was more grip at Leszno ... but even then maybe the smart move in that politically volatile situation was to keep it slick........... responsibility should be left at IMG's door for the choices of Prague and Gothenburg ...but even then they can point to last year as better examples The trouble is that the effects of a bad prep at Prague and a bit of bad luck at Gothenburg have made the start to the season as flat as a pancake .....and its obvious to fans and non fans........... in years past the man made tracks werent as good as they have been the last few.... which is just as well as if there are issues it could end up with half a season gone ... and a less than inspiring World Championship
  10. I guess this is what was meant in a thread on here a couple of weeks ago when there are venues that suit the sport and venues that don't.............. If they keep Marketa slick 12 months of the year then the simple equation is that it doesnt suit the GP's as much as Gothenburg's lack of fans and likelyhood of rain doesnt suit...... as others have posted it isnt like Prague isnt always like this...... in fact the only time it wasnt was after a massive downpour and a 90 min break to take off the top surface Give their GP to another venue (if someone wants it) and tell them they only have a chance of getting it back if they start keeping a track which is more conducive to racing with actual passing...... yes they pay handsomely (and probably at a loss) to hold a GP at their venue... but that combined with the desirable location shouldnt mean that they can devalue the standard of racing... as in turn that devalues SGP's stock re: Jan ... he was 'ok' .... I don't know how much commentating experience he has already but if he doesn't have much then he did a good job...... as good as Kelvin? no chance!...... Kelvin may be many things including being a shouter and being in 'the job' for a while now but he is still good at what he does....... in comparison Jan was more like Peter Collins in that what he was saying was valuable but imo he 'doesnt sound the part'.... yet anyway ..as i'm sure these things don't come overnight...................... variety is the spice of life though and i'd be more than happy for jan or other guys to share the job with Kelvin considering the improvement in the tracks last year under Olsson the start of the GP's have been very disappointing so far.... this is not the way to grab fans and keep hold of them................ but the product is still great so hopefully things can get back to somewhere nearer to last year..... with 2 temp tracks coming up though the pressure is on
  11. another nice destination to go to.... could they get enough bums on seats for it to be worth it though?
  12. ok before I forget then... #5 Greg Hancock 8 #1 Tomasz Gollob 9 #11 Fredrik Lindgren 7 #14 Antonio Lindback 4
  13. well i'm glad the others read it that way too or i'd look even more stupid than I already do
  14. Well they must have changed the WC policy for a reason..... so when will we see the difference? a Polish GP? the Italian GP?
  15. this one's not easy.... gonna have to think about it for a while
  16. the best part is Bomber's little jog following the others out of the room best GP advert for a few years
  17. well done guys ..... just been reading up on the BSPA site and it looks like not only was it a good meeting but some great work is going in
  18. yes it really is moronic not only is all of that in your opinion (and you have been clearly anti coventry biased) and in no way should result in what amounts to bullying and trolling........ but Philip is a forum member just like you or me and has forum rights just like you or me Do you really need to poke, pull, stalk, bully, troll, and repeat yourself (ad nauseum)?
  19. that is moronic well I guess at least you indirectly admit the trolling
  20. Ladyluck what is your issue? and particularly with Philip? Are you seriously saying you don't know what he meant? That you can't simply swap two words? You don't make mistakes? You really are starting to resemble a tiresome troll
  21. think youve missed my point tbh if you know you are going to get 10k people ..... and you are building a sport/WC series..... it isnt going to look good on tv in a stadium that holds 43k...... whereas if you hold it in a stadium that holds 10-15k it does at least look like the sport/competition is going somewhere.......... I understand to some degree you take what you can get these days ..... but like I said if there are other options they really should be explored as I don't see a ghost town of a stadium pushing things forward Supercross in USA takes the approach of reducing prices to the point where they fill the stadium ..... in their case 100k stadiums with tickets starting from £10 for 4 hours of entertainment
