Peter Adams is the guest at the NSSC tomorrow night. I don't know how much he'd be willing to discuss Tai's signing for Wolves or the Team GB situation but as you know he's been very close to him for many years. Besides that Peter was very entertaining last year with tales of the many World Champions he has worked with. Smuggling a passport less Bruce Penhall over the German border in the boot of his car was one of the highlights! Peter has a very sharp wit, totally different to his on screen (SKY) persona. We are in for a treat. All proceeds go to Neil Vatcher and his Young Lions. Only £3 for non-members, everybody welcome. http://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk

Belle Vue V Coventry 30th May, 2016
oleoleole replied to Aces51's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Great to see the riders being able to show us their immense skill and bravery on a big track with plenty of room. Such a different sport to when they are tripping over each other on tight fiddly tracks. Some of the races today really put a smile on your face and reminded you why you are a speedway fan! Extremely jealous of Aces fans who can watch this every week. -
We are pleased to say that Martin Smolinski is making a rare visit to the UK as guest of the NSSC. Martin will be our guest for the evening with plenty of opportunity to hear his views and plans for this year including partnering Nicki Pedersen in the new Speedway Best Pairs Cup and his quest to get back in to the SGP. With thanks to Tony Steele (and his kit) we will also be watching the first UK screening of the speedway documentary film, "Speed, mud & glory". Martin will also have copies for sale at £15/each. The meeting is this Wednesday, 23rd March with an earlier than usual start time of 7:30. Everybody welcome, entrance is £3.00 for non-members. As usual all proceeds are for Neil Vatcher and the Young Lions. For all details and link to film teaser; http://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk

My version of events, for what it's worth. I reckon there were 60 in attendance and the event was ably hosted by the press and media guy from Kings Lynn (sorry don't know his name). Of the 60 I'd say about 20 were Coventry fans. It lasted about 3 hours and apart from a couple who hogged the microphone and really tried to force their point of view it flowed quite well and covered a lot of subjects. Starting with rider safety and steps to make the bikes easier to handle and reduce costs. Apparently a very productive meeting was held earlier in the day with Ollie Allen and Danny King where their point of view made the BSPA reconsider their stance. I think it's a very good move to get riders and the BSPA to talk directly on these issues and the BSPA members were certainly impressed by the riders contribution. Promotion of the sport on a national scale and media/social media also got a good airing. Personally the strangle hold that GoSpeed have over all the teams websites and social media is just crazy. How can you hope to broaden your fan base, particularly to younger people, when you are not allowed to show anybody how good the product is. There was a general agreement amongst the panel that this does need to be addressed (I'd say urgently)....we'll wait and see. The lack of a sponsor for the Elite and Premier leagues was mentioned a few times but I can't recall a really positive answer. Other topics discussed were track conditions, speed of meetings, more interaction between riders and fans, a national launch day for the wider media, racing on only one or two nights a week, putting British speedway first (looking after our own interests in relation to Sweden, Poland etc.) and planning very early for 2017. All in all I think it was a worthwhile exercise. I certainly hope that, even though it was not very well attended, the BSPA members present thought so too. Most questions were answered concisely although there was a bit of shuffling of feet and gazing at the desk when the current fad of signing 8 or 9 riders was mentioned (work in progress I think!). If they do run another one, and I hope they do, I'd recommend you give it a go if you can. After all it is an opportunity to put your point of view directly to those who run the sport. They were certainly listening and you could tell that certain points and views had the desired effect. Who knows, in their media savvy future it may be broadcast live with interaction from remote fans! Anyway thank you BSPA for putting the event on. We look forward to a brighter future.

Would probably help if they announced who would actually be on the panel. As you would expect it's all very vague and wouldn't be surprised if poorly organised on the day.

The NSSC have Mick Horton as guest a week tomorrow, Thursday 25th February. There's plenty to discuss including; new admission charges, new stadium?, new team and new rules and reg's. Czech Golden Helmet - Help/advice
oleoleole replied to oleoleole's topic in International World of Speedway
Thank you for your replies. We had already booked a hotel because we panicked at the "only two rooms left" when we were tentatively looking but fortunately it was the Hotel Euro so we are re-assured by your recommendations and off on the right foot. -
Having met several people on our speedway travels who have said, "you must do the Czech Golden Helmet". This is our year! Our outline plan is to fly to Prague and then train to Pardubice to take in all three days of racing. We then plan to go on to Vienna for a few days and then to Budapest and fly back from there. So we will be reliant on public transport. If anybody would care to take the time to offer any hints/tips we'd be most grateful. Particularly getting to the stadium and tickets etc. Of course any favoured bars/restaurants would have to be fully explored 😉 Thanks.

Neil Vatcher & Lewis Kerr At The Nssc
oleoleole replied to oleoleole's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Sorry Gemini. Thanks for pointing it out, I've corrected it now. -
Neil Vatcher and Lewis Kerr are the next guests at the NSSC on Thursday 14th January at 8pm. All money raised from these events goes to support the Young Lions. Everybody welcome, admission for non-members is £3.00. The BSPA have said that they will give more support to the youth programme so it will be interesting to hear Neil's views and plans for the future. Neil will also be saving a couple of major announcements for the evening regarding sponsorship and venues for the 2016 Youth Championships. It goes without saying that Lewis Kerr has a very big story to tell so come along, meet like minded speedway folk and get in the mood for the new season. If Mr Sandhu is behind the re-location then presumably it will be for speedway and stock cars? If so the stadium and facilities will have to be far grander than Leicester (for example) to cope with the larger stock car crowds and associated space for all the race cars and transporters. Is it foolish to hope for something exciting to come out of this sad story?

If anybody wants to come along to the next NSSC meeting on Thursday (19th November 8pm) you are more than welcome. There's a small charge of £3 for non members and all proceeds go to support Neil Vatcher and the Young Lions. Once again Adam Roynon is hosting the event, so plenty of laughs and our guests are Danny King and Mick Horton. So why not come and ask Mick Horton his plans for next year and beyond. Can't guarantee how much he will let on though For all details; http://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk

Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April
oleoleole replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
All very nice but as expected no result of the enquiry as promised to the fans. Yet another speedway scandal just swept under the carpet. Well I for one will not be conned again! -
Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April
oleoleole replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well I've got my reply; "Thanks for your enquiry to the motorsports department regarding Speedway. There will be some further information regarding the Warsaw SGP following this week, so please do keep an eye out on the website and social media. Thanks again for your interest." A bit bland to say the least but confirms what DutchGrasstrack said. We shall see.......... -
Why do we have to "let it go....." There is something very fishy here. How come one week he is so upset about his dad's accident he is not fit to race and the next he admits that he doesn't know what happened and doesn't really know his condition. Claiming that as he is a long way from home so he is not kept in the loop.....which is just ridiculous! If his father is seriously injured in Australia and Dakota is struggling to cope that is one thing, to be quoted later as not even knowing what the accident was or how is dad is doing is just taking us all as fools.
-
And we are supposed to believe all that. So he was too upset to race yet he doesn't know what happened or what his condition is!? To claim that he is so far away that they haven't been able to keep him in the loop is just ridiculous! Somebody needs to tell him about telephones, e-mail, Twitter, Facebook etc etc Is somebody going to look into this....it stinks!

So 5 months later and still no results of the "full investigation"!? Apathy rules! -
First of all I hope Dakota's father has a full recovery but I find it strange that his fathers condition is so serious that Dakota cannot concentrate on racing but not serious enough to fly home. Yet again Poole are called cheats. An annual occurrence. Such a shame really. We nearly got to the end of the season without too much controversy and now rules have been stretched to breaking point again by the usual protagonists.
-
Well 'Gater1' you've got your wish....... "MF and Co can we please get a sick note for Dak North next week....Pay Dak for a certain amount of points and get a guest in :D" (From the Cov v Poole thread) Sadly it was so predictable.....why do other teams bother trying?

If anybody fancies coming along and asking Gary Havelock for his views on this then everybody is welcome at the NSSC tomorrow night. (Non-members £3 for admission) David Rowe has kindly stepped in to the interviewers chair for this one so it should be an interesting night. All money raised supports the Young Lions, details here; http://www.younglionsspeedway.co.uk/next-guest-at-the-nssc-gary-havelock-all-proceeds-for-the-young-lions/
