  1. What a pathetic post!! Halifaxtiger is speedway through and through, travels the length and breath of the country watching the sport he loves. He helps riders where he can and also is ready to help at the track or on it! He certainly is no freeloader! Also the airfence is not yet up at Mildenhall!
  2. All seven played their part Damon, it was a true team performance As HT said Mildenhall have real team spirit, last night that didn't seem apparent from the Stoke side. Personally I felt Aaaron Baseby fell on his own and Heat 14 was called correctly. A great night at Loomer Road but .... it is not over yet, Mildenhall must not be complacent today for sure, as Stoke are a good side and did not finish top of the league by luck!
  3. Very difficult to consider a seven until we have some idea of points limits and other various rulings for 2012. That said a heat leader pairing of Cameron Heeps and Robert Branford would be a very good start
  4. Very difficult to say how Mildenhall will do tomorrow night in my opinion. Our previous visit to Stoke saw us fall away badly in the later part of the meeting to lose by 21. However since then we have bought in Cameron Heeps and Mark Baseby to replace James Brundle and Nick Laurence which makes us considerably stronger. Also with Aaron Baseby and Dan Halsey now at reserve we look much more solid in that department. That said Lambert didn't ride in this meeting although his replacement Jon Armstrong scored a paid maximum! Also Gareth Isherwood was in the main body and James Sargeant at reserve. If we are to do well though we need to keep it close early on and not need to employ the TR's too early. It all adds up to two potentially cracking meetings, fingers crossed
  5. From the Official Stoke website - Potters v Mildenhall PLAY OFF SEMI FINAL 1st leg 01/10/11 STOKE Easy Rider Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey is urging supporters to turn out in force as the Potters take on Mildenhall in the first leg of the National League play offs semi final at Loomer Road on Saturday night. Vasey Said “This is a very important match for the club and we want to progress into the final and the supporters have a big part to play as it really does help the team as the Mildenhall supporters showed at West Row last Sunday in the cup and I really hope that the Stoke supporters will come out in force to back the team.” The Potters welcome Ben Reade back into the fold as he replaces Tim Nobes at reserve in what is an otherwise unchanged team for the Potters. The Fen Tigers will also be unchanged from Sunday’s cup final clash which sees’ Potters supporters the chance to see Cameron Heeps who spearheads the Tigers along with former Potter Jack Hargreaves and Mark Baseby. Completing the top five is Lewis Blackbird and Joe Jacobs. At reserve for the Fen men is Daniel Halsey who was the Tigers man of the match in last Sunday’s clash with Aaron Baseby also scoring well. Potters team manager Vasey commented “We will be looking to hit Mildenhall early on and open up a lead. Mildenhall are a very good side and we will need to be at our best. I’m sure there will be some fantastic racing and supporters will be in for a treat we really want to win and we will do our very best to make it happen.” Stoke: Simon Lambert, Jaimie Pickard, James Sarjeant, Tony Atkin Captain), Tim Webster, Ben Reade, Gareth Isherwood Mildenhall: Cameron Heeps, Mark Baseby, Joe Jacobs, Lewis Blackbird, Jack Hargreaves (Captain), Daniel Halsey, Aaron Baseby Looking forward to this one, all being well we will be making the trip up to Stoke Hopefully we can keep the gap under 10 points, and set the tie up for Sundays 2nd leg!
  6. Hi Mike, no worries mate. Certainly won’t fall out over a different opinion of a racing incident. From where I stood in the main stand it looked like Lambert accidentally straightened causing the incident, the person to my right agreed and thought he may have shed a chain the way his bike went (Jaybe wondered the same when we spoke later), whilst Arnieg standing to my left said all four back. It wasn’t the easiest call especially from the referees box where the angle would have been different again to yours or mine. As you say all down to opinions.
  7. Total overreaction Mr Mungo, you obviously have some big issues where Mildenhall are concerned!! There were a couple of unsavoury scenes, although certain riders cetainly seemed to provoke what went on. The Mildenhall promotion were quick to make it clear that this sort of thing is not acceptable in the post match forum! To say Mildenhall have more 'hooligans' is overdramatic and also incorrect and does an injustice to our club. I stood in the stand and some bloke had some issues with Simon Lambert which was no more than some shouting and posturing! Then something happened by the fence which calmed down prety quickly. Don't get me wrong I dont condone any behaviour like this, but lets not get things out of proportion here. It was a cracking cup final tie and both sides put on a great show for the supporters. I haven't heard of any riders complaining about the Mildenhall track, which has produced some excellent racing this season and today was no different. Fast times, close racing and some excellent passes, none better than the two Mildenhall Man of the Match Daniel Halsey produced in heats 12 and 15 added up to a red blooded cup tie Simon Lambert was excellent again although personally I thought he was lucky to get back in Heat 13. Hopefully next Saturday and Sundays ties will be as exciting, certainly hope so. As for the KOC, Stoke are favourites now after todays 1st leg, but its not all over yet Edited post to add - Great to see a coach load of Stoke fans making the trip down to support their side
  8. From the Mildenhall Speedway Official Site Tigers Ready To Roar To Cup Glory Friday, 23 September 2011 14:50 | The stage is set for the biggest match since Mildenhall relaunched a "new era" of speedway in April, as the Fen Tigers face theStoke Potters at West Row on Sunday in the first leg of the NL Knock-Out Cup Final. Aussie star Cameron Heeps makes his comeback from injury riding at number one for the Tigers after a sensational debut season in the UK. "It’s been a great year for me," he said, "and to be honest I’ve surprised myself on how well it’s gone. "If we can finish the season now by winning something, that really will be a dream come true. We’ve got to beat Stoke to win the cup and the play-offs but if we all give it 110% we can do it for us and for the fantastic supporters who’ve made me so welcome". Those thoughts are echoed by team manager Rob Henry, himself a Tigers legend, after skippering the club to success in the seventies and eighties. "It is an extraordinary achievement by everyone connected with Mildenhall Speedway, that having started so late with everything, we are in with a chance of not one piece of silverware but two. "Stoke stand in our way on both fronts. They are a strong side and, as we saw in our League clash here, Simon Lambert in particular knows the quickest way around West Row. We will have to be at our best to take a decent lead to the Potteries later next month but all the boys are in form and their desire to win has to be seen to be believed." Co-Promoter Michael Lee feels one of the most memorable days in Mildenhall's history is on the cards. "It really does promise to be something special and I'd urge all our supporters, old and new, to be at West Row on Sunday to roar the boys on, and even if you are not a Mildenhall fan, you should still come to West Row. I've already said Stoke hold no fears for us. That's not bravado on our part. We genuinely believe we have the strength in depth that can beat them over two legs in the Cup-Final and the Play-offs. It really is an afternoon not to be missed." With the biggest crowd since the season opener against Dudley expected for Sunday's final, Mildenhall are asking fans to arrive as early as possible, to allow time for everyone to get in and ready for the start of the meeting. The gates will open at 3pm. Among the entertainment on offer, will be a display by the Soham Fenlander Majorettes at 3.50pm and after the meeting there will be a riders forum in the bar, where the team will be signing autographs as well. As well as that, facepainting will be on offer to supporters from both teams and a delegation from Forest Heath District Council will be meeting the riders and presenting them with a memento of the day as part of the parade at 4.30pm, with the racing starting at 4.45pm. Admission prices have been frozen and a full colour souvenir programme has been produced, which will cost £2.50 with full price admission, or £1.50 with concessionary
  9. Back to Sundays meeting Teams as listed on Stoke Potters Official website Mildenhall: Cameron Heeps Mark Baseby Joe Jacobs Lewis Blackbird Jack Hargreaves (Captain) Daniel Halsey Aaron Baseby Team Manager: Robert Henry Stoke: Simon Lambert Jaimie Pickard James Sarjeant Tony Atkin (Captain) Tim Webster Tim Nobes Gareth Isherwood Team Manager: Malcolm Vasey
  10. Interesting to read John Cooks comments that Lakeside may run in the NL if there is enough interest!
  11. Taken from the Official Mildenhall website Mildenhall Fen Tigers' Aussie star Cameron Heeps has been declared fit, and will return to the line-up for this Sunday's (25th Sept) first leg of the National League Knock Out Cup final against Stoke Potters at West Row. The 15-year-old, who has roared to the top of the Tigers' averages with a series of sensational displays, has fully recovered from the broken wrist he suffered in a fall at the Isle of Wight last month. He reported no ill effects after practising at Ipswich last Thursday, and will line up at Number One for Sunday's eagerly awaited clash. Mildenhall are planning to turn Sunday's final into a carnival occasion, and have frozen admission prices for the big day. "We know it's still a tough time financially for a lot of people, and after the fantastic support we've had all season, the management decided it was only fair to keep prices the same even if it is a cup final." Louis continued, "The only extra charge will be for the programme. We are producing a full colour souvenir edition, with extra pages, which will cost a pound more than usual at £2.50. People who normally get a free programme with concessionary admission will be asked to pay £1.50. But we think it's well worth it and will be a great memento of a special day." Full details of other entertainment will be announced later in the week, but the Tigers have already confirmed there will be a forum in the bar after the meeting attended by all the riders, who'll be signing autographs as well. And the hugely popular face painting will be available to fans of any age from both sides! "We want to make the Stoke fans welcome and part of the fun, so as well as plenty of Tigers' faces around the stadium we'd like to see plenty of red and white faces too. "This is our biggest meeting since we re-opened against Dudley in April, and we would love to see a bigger crowd than we had that day. I know fans will be in for a treat with terrific racing between two excellent teams. It really is one not to be missed!" Gates will open at 3pm with the meeting starting at 4.30pm. Should be an absolute cracker! Great that Cameron Heeps is back for us. Mildenhall should line up i'd guess 1. Heeps 2. M Baseby 3. Jacobs 4. Blackbird 5. Hargreaves 6. A Baseby 7. Halsey West Row certainly looks the place to be this Sunday
  12. Be very interesting to see what the crowd is for this one and if a Lakeside NL side is a real possibility for the future!
  13. Many thanks I have sent you a PM
  14. Stoke v Mildenhall 1st October and Mildenhall v Stoke 2nd October according to fixtures section on BSPA site
  15. Hi Cityrebel, Does Dave Russell post on here, he has produced a Mildenhall badge I would like to acquire if possible thanks
  16. Seeing Shadders thread about the Rye House Raiders returning next season following the failed experiment with Hackney, got me thinking about what teams would run in 2012, and will there be any newcomers? From this years 10 I would guess Mildenhall, Rye House, Stoke, Scunthorpe, Buxton and Dudley are certainties to run Kings Lynn, Belle Vue and Isle of Wight are hopefuls / maybe's And Newport look doubtful As for new sides the rumour about Bodmin continues and will Sittingbourne appear in 2012 Does anyone have any views or news on possible runners?!
  17. Certainly agree there Baldyman, Lewis has made fantastic strides this season to date. It is hard to imagine he had only ridden a handful of meetings prior to the start of the 2011 season. One more season in the NL with maybe a few PL opportunities later in the season would seem the way to go. Cameron Heeps looks a certainty but it wouldn't hurt him either to remain in the NL with Mildenhall and double up at Ipswich in 2012 in my opinion. After all he has only ridden a handful of meetings in England and it would help him i'm sure to get as much track time as possible!(Thinly veiled attempt to hide the fact that we would desperately want him back as our No1 in 2012 )
  18. The only possibility I can think of Kevtyke is Ken Burnett, and his excellent Days Gone By DVD's
  19. It will be an interesting finish to a very good NL season from my perspective HT Personally I cannot see anyone wanting to go to Belle Vue, so I imagine it will be Stoke v Mildenhall and Scunthorpe v Belle Vue, which with the distinct possibility of a Stoke v Mildenhall KO Cup Final could mean four very hard fought meetings between the two clubs! I don't see us getting beaten up like we did last time at Stoke in the League, but feel it is hard to call who will go through to the finals. Hopefully Cameron Heeps will return and get some laps in prior to any of these forthcoming big fixtures!
  20. Well said Mike It is easy to complain about the delayed start, but when I arrived at 3.15pm it was pouring down and continued to do so until after 4pm. Referee Chris Gay sensibly, with the cut off fast approaching, decided to give as much time as possibe for the rain to stop and in the end we saw a decent meeting in difficult conditions. It is to the credit of those that run the club that it was possible to run at all today, and the track was in remarkably good condition considering the rain that fell. After the first three or four races the track was fine and credit to all 13 riders for giving it a good go. Unlike in previous years we were kept fully informed of what was, or wasn't happening and in the end the crowd looked surprisingly good considering the weather, id say around 300. Once the meeting started it was run in under 90 minutes, even though there were a few falls, and was over before 7.15pm. Agan the referee and riders deserve praise for getting on with the meeting. The advantage of now having a decent track was there for all to see! We are now in the play offs, and await our next opponents

  22. Taken from the Official Mildenhall website Mildenhall Fen Tigers wrap up their National League programme against the Newport Hornets, on Sunday (4 Sept) with co-promoter Michael Lee warning the side will have to be at their best to keep their unbeaten home record and get the points needed to finally confirm their play-off berth. "Newport will come here fighting for points, make no mistake about that. Mathematically they can still make the play-offs themselves and with a top two of Todd Kurtz and Jay Herne it would be wrong to underestimate them. The minute we do that we'll be in trouble." The Tigers have opted not to bring in a guest for injured number one Cameron Heeps and will use rider replacement instead. "To be honest, although Robert Branford was great for us away at Hackney and Scunthorpe, the guests we've used for home meetings haven't worked out so well. So having considered things we thought it would be good to let the rest of the boys pick up the extra rides." There had been concerns that Lewis Blackbird would be forced to miss the meeting after injuring a shoulder in the horrific pile up at Scunthorpe on Monday, that left John Oliver in hospital with two broken legs and back injuries. "It wasn't looking good for Lewis up until Wednesday night. But he got some movement back after more treatment on Thursday, and is confident he'll be ready for Sunday." Another big crowd is expected at West Row on Sunday for the last league match of the season. "Our supporters have been superb all year and have been behind everything we've set out to achieve. All being well we still have play-off matches and maybe even a Cup Final to come, so the action isn't finished yet!" Gates on Sunday open at the usual time of 3pm with the parade at 4.30pm. Expected team line-ups: Mildenhall Fen Tigers 1. R/R 2. Mark Baseby 6.93 3. Joe Jacobs 6.27 4. Lewis Blackbird 6.78 5. Jack Hargreaves © 7.02 6. Daniel Halsey 4.80 7. Aaron Baseby 4.82 Team manager: Robert Henry Newport Hornets 1. Todd Kurtz 10.08 2. Tom Young 3.26 3. Matt Bates 4.86 4. Brendan Johnson 4.02 5. Jay Herne © 8.14 6. Richard Andrews 3.48 7. James White-Williams 4.48 Team manager: Kevin Brown
