  1. Excellent common sense approach to the situation some of these lads find themselves in Rob Of course by applying common sense you know the likelihood of it being taken on board by the sports administrators as a proposal is Nil
  2. I am after the following programmes in mint uncompleted condition if anyone can help please 2004 U15 Championship rounds at Weymouth Armadale Sittingbourne Camarthen Sheffield 2005 U15 Championship rounds at Buxton 01/05 Armadale 28/05 Weymouth 30/05 Scunthorpe 03/07 Newport 14/08 Sheffield 22/09 Also wanted are the completed records for each of these meetings, if anyone is able to copy their completed score cards from the programme and send to me I d be most grateful, more than happy to cover costs. Also require the completed score cards from the Junior Meeting held at Lakeside on Friday 21st September 2007 and the Junior U16 3TT at Stoke on Saturday 31st? May 2008 PM if you can help Thanks
  3. Lets hope so! I was really looking forward to this, but have to say after 4 races I couldn't watch anymore, camera quality was very poor and the chopping and changing of angles was annoying at best. With the track being so small surely one camera could have filmed the whole race?
  4. Not good news Derek Maybe Mildenhall could step in and offer a round of this Championship, maybe a word hey
  5. Quite glad I started this thread now Its only early february and we have six known dates, at four known tracks, four riders in Owen, Kirby, Morris and Howarth taking part and maybe the potential for one or two more rounds to be added. This could be the best year for the U15 Championship for some time U15 Championship 2009 Adam Kirby Marc Owen Ashley Morris Kyle Howarth Any others please add
  6. Potentially excellent news Derek, seven rounds!!!! maybe when Mildenhall are sorted they may look to make it eight:approve:
  7. I know many will think Im insane to bring up this subject in February , possibly better to mention it in late May However I was wondering if a) there would be a championship this season b ) with the rather small NL was any consideration being given to having more rounds as these meetings would imo be excellent fixture fillers, and give the youngsters more varied experience of different tracks. c) how many rounds there were likely to be d) possible entrants for the 2009 series
  8. Thanks for clearing that up Norman. Looking forward to next sundays event Phil
  9. Norbold, I see on this thread that it is continuly stated that entry to the park and museum is free next Sunday, however I see in the advert in this weeks Speedway Star that entry is free with the advert in the Star. There are 5 of us heading down from Mildenhall, 4 adverts and 1 child, could you please confirm what it the correct situation, as we do not want to turn up with out 5 speedway star advert's and end up being asked for £75! Many thanks Phil
  10. The blurb states ALL you wanted to know about some of the TRUELY GREAT BRITISH LEAGUE SPEEDWAY CLUBS - from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and into the current century too! A fascinating book packed with stats, facts, stories and great pictures - Don’t miss: West Ham Hammers, New Cross Rangers, Wembley Lions, Swindon Robins, Reading Racers, Southampton Saints, Exeter Falcons, Wimbledon Dons, Belle Vue Aces, Crewe Kings, Ipswich Witches, Poole Pirates, Birmingham Brummies, Boston Barracudas, Oxford Cheetahs, Cradley Heath Heathens, Hanley Potters, Newcastle Diamonds, Ellesmere Port Gunners, Hackney Kestrels, Arena-Essex Hammers, Halifax Dukes, and the Coventry Bees! Just wondered if anyone has purchased this publication and could give their opinion on it please? £19.99 is not cheap and the publications from Speed-Away are a little hit and miss imo, so would appreciate any views thanks
  11. Thanks Derek If anyone has the first three it would be appreciated to!
  12. Does anyone have the heat times from this meeting please? I have the results (from the Buxton website) but not the times
  13. Being a lot younger Meetings not dragging on for hours. 13 heat meetings Proper second half events Junior and training track meetings (during and out of season!) The track shop caravan at Mildenhall Speedway (many weeks pocket money dissapeared there) Still having Londons tracks to visit. Less meaningless events. than today i.e Craven Shield, Premier Trophy, Young Shield etc The Interleague KO Cup 4TT's run properly with group matches, the classic early season weekends with four meetings in four days at Boston /Peterborough /Rye House & Mildenhall International touring teams More than one weekly speedway publication Crazy Jack Millen
  14. Does anyone have the heat details / times etc from this meeting please?
  15. Good news about young Ashley Morris. Thanks for the scores / heat details
  16. Could some one please post he full scorecard for todays meeting?
  17. Certainly didn't buy this book on the back of that 'review', seems more about the reviewer that the actual book However as a non Wimbledon follower I can recommend it as a very good read, although as Salty has alluded to rather expensive at £20.99 (hardback) for 106 pages. A problem with most books/magazines Speed-away promotions produce, I recently also purchased the Pocket Defunct.........of Leicester booklet, 24 A5 pages for £6!!!!! Maybe the small print runs have something to do with the prices being asked Getting back to the Wimbledon book, the long history of the famous club is well covered with important seasons reviewed, interviews with some of the famous names associated with Wimbledon and many excellent photos, and as I say expensive but a necessary purchase for any collector of speedway books. I will be certainly looking to purchase the Cradley Heath version and hope that future book style issues on famous defunct clubs follow from the Speed-away stable! PS - The History of Stoke Potters is also a decent read, similiar format and size
  18. Thanks for saving me the effort of responding Derek. 30 stand alone tracks (incl Boston) x 3 equates to 90 meetings a year which to mind is too many However there should be nothing to stop each Elite and Premier track running ONE , which would give us 25 meetings of this type a season. Add to that some proper second half events, that actually get run, rather than being abandoned because the 'main' event has been protracted, and we'd be heading in the right direction. Personally I am amazed why the U15 championship is only 4 or 5 rounds!

  20. What a fantastic nights Speedway in front of a decent crowd (looked over 200). Everyone of the 13 riders present were a credit to themselves as they provided some excellent racing, from Heat 1 when Marc Owen executed the first of three quality passes, through to heat 15 when Oliver Rayson unfortunately suffered an engine failure on the final lap when leading the unbeaten Richard Franklin and Marc Owen again made a super pass to get up into second on the line. For me the two highlights of the evening were Ashley Morris excellent effort to get second in Heat 8 after starting off 15 metres for a tapes touching ofence, which was only surpassed in Heat 14 when James Sargeant on a TS ride came from 4th to last in a race where Jake Knight showed maturity beyond his years to keep looking for his partner and when he saw him come through into second place intellegently going out wide to let Sargeant through. Knight had earlier shown excellent bike skills to avoid the fallen Sargeant and remain on and in control of his machine. Hopefully other clubs will take note and look to run similar meetings next season. Although Mike Bennetts assertion that all Elite , Premier and Conference clubs should run three of these meetings a year was a little over the top, surely all Elite and Premier clubs could run one full 15 heat Junior Meeting without much trouble. The meeting moved along at a good pace, and was over by 9.25pm, even with a 15 minute interval, plenty of league meetings I've attended this season have taken much longer to run!! I couldn't stay on for the second half but if anyone has the details could they post them on here please. Good to catch up with Parsloes and Mimmo as well
