  1. Not to mention Lambert being German A bit like the England cricket team
  2. What's the situation about the roof? I gather that thete is a bit of a dispute brewing?
  3. Hmmm...they were crystal clear when they were selling the season tickets that the friemdly against Cradley, the KOC & the Play-off's were NOT part of the season ticket deal.
  4. A bit harsh. Can't think of a single rain-off that could have been staged, no matter how early the call-off was made. Better to call it off early and take the risk than to wait to the last minute, get the people inside the stadium and then call it off. Spare a thought for the hoards of Plymouth fans who at this time of writing must be about to set out for the long journey to Birmingham. How far up the road are they supposed to go before a decision is made? Having been on one of those epic coach trips to Glasgow that got turned round at the Hamilton Services, I have every sympathy with the away fans in cases like this.
  5. Tis true. And I'll be in Budapest for the Red Bull Air Race this weekend anyway, so it all fits together nicely as team racing is my focus rather than individual championships.
  6. Interesting weekend coming up... A top of the table clash between the yella'n'blue and the yella'n'red. Neither team can afford to be on anything less than 100% form for the meeting that could decide the post season pecking orders. Likewise at the bottom of the table, it could be that "Get Well Soon" may be in need of a shot of Prozac when they in all likelyhood get beaten by Leszno, and if Grudziadz beat Rybnik. Torun at the foot of the table with 2 world champions in the team...who'd have thought it? And in other news, Mickey Mouse...er...bah, who cares about them?
  7. Getting ready for it already. Just bought my Birmingham to/from Poznan flights at £23.98 return (!!!) so will hopefully only be a train ride away from wherever I need to go to for the 2nd leg of the final.
  8. This was before Leszno stuffed Mickey Mouse. The latest "latest table" is: 1 Gorzow m 9 pts 15 2 Wroclaw m 8 pts 14 3 Leszno m 9 pts 13 4 Zielona Gora m 8 pts 12 5 Rybnik m 7 pts 7 6 Czestochowa m 9 pts 7 7 Torun m 10 pts 4 8 Grudziadz m 8 pts 4 Just wondering if we can start looking forward to seeing a Torun v Bydgoszcz derby in 2018? They are almost as "exciting" as the Stal v Mickey Mouse derbys.
  9. Doing a Brummies_Ste here - http://www.birminghambrummies.co/_mobile/news.php?extend.2486 BIRMINGHAM have won the race to sign talented teen Taylor Hampshire. The 16-year-old was a member of the King's Lynn Young Stars squad until they withdrew from the league last month. Since then he has made several guest bookings for a whole host of teams - and scored a crucial 9+1 for Birmingham in Wednesday's 46-44 home win over Lakeside. The Surestop Brummies have fought off interest from other third tier sides and are delighted to confirm the capture of the 2016 Midland Riders' Development Champion. Team boss Graham Drury said: "I feel this is an important signing for Birmingham for more than one reason. "Firstly, both on and off track Taylor has got plenty to offer to the team and we feel he'll progress nicely with us at Birmingham. "Even in the few meetings he has had, he's got better and better every time he's been to Perry Barr and we're sure he'll continue his development with us at Birmingham. "His equipment is right up to scratch, he's eager to race and he's excited to be joining. "Secondly, Taylor has chosen us over a number of other clubs - and that always means a lot and says a lot in the same breath too. "Some other high profile clubs were interested in his signature, but naturally we're thrilled he has chosen us and we can't wait to get working with him."
  10. Paul Hurry simply can't cope with Perry Barr. That's 5 races I've seen him in there, and he's fallen in 3 of them, including the one in 2007(?) in which he got that nasty injury. Not what you'd expect from a "World Cup Hero" as he was being billed.
  11. Isn't he the most (with 4) excluded rider in Polish speedway at the moment?
  12. No sign of thunderstorms or other random weather disturbances. We may actually get to see some racing tonight, for a change.
  13. Macauley Leek's fanclub will be most disappointed, What's become of Keen Dickin? He was supposed to have been our #7 for the season, not just for half a lap.
  14. How come Mason is not already riding for Stoke? That's where all the other riders of his generation are plying their trade. Has the talent pool of young riders really dried up to this extent, or does life really start at 40 and this guy is just a recycled juvenile?
  15. I don't think that Mr Janowski qualifies for this league. We're all British, remember? Much too good for him.
  16. So wearing a Black Pepper, Ketchup and Mustard body colour isn't enough for you then?
  17. Was a time when the BSPA's beligerence towards speedway in other countries meant those on the other side of the English Channel / North Sea. Now it seems that the Solent counts as enough of a separation between England and those who the BSPA treat with contempt. We've seen it before, not least at Birmingham. Anyone not prepared to play along with the "our way or no way" mantra of the speedway establishment will at some point reap the whirlwind.
  18. Didn't he actually do just that in one of the u21 championships a few years ago, when he was still riding on a German license? I'm pretty sure I recall seeing a scorechart from somewhere with "Lambert - GER" on it.
  19. I wonder if we can get Kyle Newman on an artificially falsified average, a bit like what Lakeside did with Paul Hurry.
  20. Not to mention the people who not only paid at the gate, but may have paid for a hotel and did some long distance travelling, in the hope of seeing two competitive teams. OK so the Brummies got a win, but in the circumstances it's about as hollow as that Sleepy place on the SyFy channel.
  21. I can recall him being called an Aussie from his first days at Scunthorpe and Rye House.
  22. Funny how Tai gets labelled as "Australian" but Robert Lambert never gets labelled as a German (let alone "a "Kraut", "Hun", "Bosch" "Nazi", "Boxhead" or any other derogatory term reserved for Germans) And yet, where did Lambert learn his craft? Which country did he represent at youth level? He's still adored at places like Gustrow and all over Germany. The Germans almost view him as one of their own. And yet, he's not been given the same stick as Tai has by the British fans.
  23. A 6 man team, 3 man races, 2 guests, rider replacement and a partridge in a pear tree.
  24. Sounds like a busy night for the Start Marshalls with all the re-runs...how many is it? 25 starts? 26??? Good job there's no curfew at Kent...oh, wait a minute
