Mr Mole has set his sights on retirement. 2017 will be his last year at Birmingham. So not only are BV looking for a new promoter but to add a bit of competition, so are the Brummies, for the long term. So the question that a newcomer tempted by promoting a speedway team has to ask, is which is the better option, Belle Vue or Birmingham?

For the average admission price in Poland you can buy 5 pints of beer down the pub. How much do 5 pints of beer cost in a Swindon pub? Now who's better off?
-
Decent track lighting and not having to rely on the headlights of the cars parked above the back straight for illumination would be good too.
-
I'd have thought that the first signing would need to be a promoter and the second signing would need to be the lease on a stadium. Without those, the whole joint venture will go to the wind.
-
That's Captain Mainwaring, Sergeant Wilson, Corporal Jones and Private Pike signed up...just need to get Private Godfrey, Private Frazer and Private Walker now...
-
Hmmm..."I say, you rotter, you broke the starting tapes...how disappointing. Bah!" ...yeah, that'll work with kids who've been brought up on rap crap music, innit?
-
Do you really think that the sight of Mr Tattum's organ will do any good to the average Stoke fan's dicky tickers?
-
No prizes for guessing the music that will be played at Stoke when the riders march out on Parade lol.

He's only 33 years old. A bit young for Dads Army isn't he?
-
If gating shenanigans is all it's about then why waste the other 4 laps? Why not have just a 25 metre drag race to see who can con the others at the start line the best?

Could get yourself a ticket to see Guns'n'Roses with that...

Bydgoszcz could become a key transit airport this year with train/taxi links to Bydgoszcz itself, Torun, Gniezno and Poznan (amongst others) and with lower league matches being on Saturdays it allows for interesting speedway weekends. I'll be flying in to Bydgoszcz myself on 27th May and will call in at Gniezno v Poznan on the way to Stal Gorzów v Falubaz Zielona Gora on the Sunday.

2016 Riders Still To Be Announced In 2017 Team

Well thanks for clearing that up. I asked a question about that on another thread but didn't get a clear answer to that effect. Just hope that the builders don't get their instructions in a twist. -

Yeah, Swindon. As I understand it their new stadium is at an equally advanced stage of construction as the one in Reading. -
Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick

Ahhh, why not? Give the other teams a fighting chance. Makes things more interesting, innit? -
Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick

I suspect that the final signings will hang on what happens at Belle Try, or Coven Vue, or whatever that concoction is called. All isn't well at either location so there might be some riders looking for somewhere where they know they will get a ride. -

I'd be inclined to put the names of Swindon and Coventry riders in italics or in another colour. With their stadiums in doubt being "signed" may just be illusionary. -
What actually is the situation there in a nutshell? If the new track is not built in time can the old track still be used next year? It took Tony Mole's construction team from early January all the way to mid March to build the track in Perry Barr in 2007 so if construction doesn't start soon it would be good to know that a "plan B" exists.

Sounds like Belle Vue think they have got a cart but no horse.

Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick

Don't think that the the intellectual quality of BSF's scriptures are the issue. The prospects of there being more than half a dozen fans coming through the turnstiles will be what matters. -
Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick

How come there are more non-Brummies fans than Brummies fans on this thread? Any potential promoter looking on here to get a feel for the local interest in the team isn't likely to be impressed. -
Has Belle Vue signed a promoter for 2017 yet?

Nailed on winners of the British Speedway Seniors League.

All very interesting. Shining lights for the BSPA.

What we have here is the equivalent of the performance of a WRC Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Evo being used as the justification for buying a regular Impreza or Evo fron the local dealerships. So what happens to the kid who spends £4,800.00 on a new sealed BSPA Gerhard engine and it turns out to be a "pup"?
