  1. Good question. I take it you are referring to the legal and legit ones? It comes down to who has the copyright and broadcasting rights in other countries I think. Look at Hulu. they are a big on-demand TV service in the USA. Try subscribing to their service from the UK and you'll get a message saying that you can't access their service due to these reasons. Likewise, DVD's are restricted to global zones too, with USA DVD's not always being able to be played on a UK DVD player. I doubt whether the card or the box that you put the card in will be GPS equipped so it should work fine. Whether you are committing a crime in using it though may be a question that you want to ask of GoSpeed International Ltd, who boast the worldwide broadcasting and distribution rights to the Ekstraliga. They entered into the agreement to "broadcast and distribute" purely to stop anyone else from doing it, and so that they can block a better product (than the British EL Speedway) from being seen in the UK. If they ever woke up, opened their eyes and saw what was going down amongst speedway fans, they may get a little annoyed. And the thought of Terry Russell annoyed...well.... 2. 3pm according to the web site. So it sounds like a possible day trip from the little islanders onto the big island.
  3. OAP's have to pay full price on groceries and clothing in Perry Barr's One Shop Stopping Centre too. Scandalous. 😐
  4. This meeting is specifically EXCLUDED from the Season Ticket entitlement. So if you have bought a season ticket, don't forget to turn up with a spare £13 in your pockets to pay your way in with the rest of the great unwashed. http://www.birminghambrummies.co/admission
  5. So the BSPA are just taking the Piszcz by making everyone wait an extra needless day? :-(
  6. Does that mean that the fixtures are agreed and they are just taking the Piszcz for a further 24 hours by keeping us dangling on their thread? Or does it mean that they are all still squabbling and haggling and tomorrow morning they will publish what they've got subject to changes later?
  7. Better to open against Cradley, than the other "go to" fixture of the past - against Stoke.
  8. It's worth keeping an eye open to how this case goes - http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/kodi-box-court-case-shop-12086720 And another development worth keeping an eye open to is this - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38583357
  9. I double dare you to use those as arguements in a court of law. The fact is that Kodi, web streamers, and satellite card sharers and their users are all on dodgy legal ground. IF you have paid a subscription to the TV Channel then all well and good. If on the other hand you are like the majority of speedway fans, looking for a bit of a freebie, looking for a cheap way of getting your fix, then go ahead if you like. Just accept the risks and take the punishment if you ever get caught. After all, it'll NEVER happen to you will it? Oh, and don't thing that just because you are like most speedway fans, and too old to need a television license any more, you don't need to subscribe to subscription channels. That one won't work either.
  10. When will work on renovating the Brandon Stadium begin?
  11. Tis true, but they are a reasonable price (usually) and you can be pretty sure that you know what you're going to get. Sometimes simplicity and certainty is worth something.
  12. Firstly, I know Mark Lemon has managed team affairs but when has he ever been in a position to gain a promoters license? Which, secondly, begs the question of who the BSPA licensed promoter will be who will be holding the reigns at Belle Vue?
  13. It's a private members club the same as any other private members club. It has a democratically elected committee, a constitution and a proper way of doing things. I don't see that they have anything to be ashamed about. If I remember rightly, club members are allowed to attend committee meetings, and present ideas, but they can't vote on them. For more information, try here - https://www.facebook.com/brummiesfans/
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, before Robin Southwell can hold a promoters license he has to be a non-voting member of the BSPA for 2 years, kind of on a "seen and not heard" basis. And then the BSPA has the right to refuse to issue him a license if his face doesn't fit. 2 years is plenty of time for a clued-up business person to see the BSPA for what they are, and just like Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney at Peterborough, get thoroghly pea'd off with the whole shebang, and want to get out of there. He'll not want to run rings around it, he'll want to run away as fast as his legs will take him.
  15. The way to shape the decision making is to join the club, get elected onto the committee, and to get your ideas adopted by a majority vote in committee... There'll be an AGM shortly, why not pop along and avail the club of your abilities and energy? See what happens?
  16. I've used Booking.com for about 5 years to book rooms all over the continent. Sometimes the Hotels in there give you free cancellations, sometimes not. Every hotel is free to set it's own terms and conditions, and the cheaper "no-frills" tarrifs are often non-refundable, even on this web site. Always check before you book.
  17. OK, so is it known, or just assumed that the new company is connected? Have there been any announcements or press releases on the subject? Who will be the SCB / BSPA licensed promoter? Will it be one of the directors, or will they have to hire-in a promoter? I have seen tweets from ex-2016 Belle Vue riders that they still have not been paid for 2016. Won't these debts need to be cleared before the venture can go forward? And why did the BSPA not clear these debts out of their Bond money?
  18. I'm confused by this Belle Vue situation. The BV web site has nothing on it since the press release announcing the release of the fixture list. So it that's the information "bible", then there is little in the way of "New Testament" in there. Likewise the BSPA web site has no recent news about Belle Vue. Are promoters in place? Are riders getting signed? the BV Fans Facebook page is over-run by more fake news than the Donald Trump presidential campaign, so I don't know what to believe and what not (probably mostly "not") Can someone please clarify what the situation is please?
  19. Charming. Nothing to stop you and your 10 buddies joining and making a difference if you feel so inclined though, is there?
  20. I've just done an enquiry, on the Travelodge web site, for a Saturday night room in Glasgow during the season. the results are: Flexible rate + Breakfast + WiFi Cancel up until noon on arrival date Total £ 155.25 Flexible rate Cancel up until noon on arrival date Total £ 144.00 Saver rate + Breakfast + WiFi Early booking rate (non-refundable) Total £ 112.25 Saver rate Early booking rate (non-refundable) Total £ 101.00 So basically the fact that the speedway promoters can't be trusted to abide by their fixtures will cost you £43 in "insurance" Alternatively, you take a calculated gamble that no more than 1 in 3 bookings will be screwed up, and you'd be better off with the Saver rates, and biting the bullet with bookings get wasted. A good test of how much faith and trust those who have to put their money where their mouths are, have in the Speedway system.
  21. Not much fun if you book a Travelodge or a Premier Inn room only to find that you can't get a refund when the booking becomes useless...but what do speedway promoters care about such things?
  22. The BSPA should write a book - "How to Alienate Fans and Infuriate People"
  23. hmmm, good not quite true. But the papers do go with what people want to read. Supply meeting demand. So yes, most of it is football, and horse racing, and at the appropriate times, rugby and cricket. If the publishers thought that by featuring speedway they would increase their circulation figures, they'd do it...so draw your own conclusions. What the newspapers are NOT, is a social service. They don't see it as their job to promote businesses that should be promoting themselves. Speedway has to be newsworthy and appeal to the readership, and as it can't seem to appeal to ever dwindling crowds at stadiums, then you can't expect it to make any inroads into the press either.
  24. Check back this time next year. All this years "seat of the pants", "off the cuff" and "playing it by ear" "what suits the Poole Pirates this time" (etc) decision making that will go on this season will have been crystallised into the 2017 rule book by then. Sorry, were you expecting the British Speedway Establishment to sort these things out in advance?
