I must admit as a neutral, i did expect a lot of 60 plus scores at central park this season. Ledwith and Rowe have exceed my expectations, but Kemp and Jenkins are not at last seasons level yet. Although in fairness Jordan has been hampered by injuries, as have Spooner and the Kings star reserves.
A decent meeting tonight with the kings falling short against a strong Belle Vue side. 15 year old Jake Mulford looked very impressive on his debut, with a sensational ride in heat 4 that brought the house down!
No race day update on the Kent website this morning, which is unusual. There are a few showers around at the moment, which wasn't in the earlier forecasts.
Going up against the fours at Peterborough didn't help Sid. Most of the neutrals would have headed for the showground. 35 races for £20 helped pull in a very good crowd.
I think the racing was closer not necessarily better. Today is all about flying machines on ultra slick tracks. It was a lot more of a level playing field before the four valvers came into play.
This meeting has been kicked from pillar to post for years, so this is no suprise. I remember Coventry stepped in to stage it because no one else wanted to. The NL pairs usually gets the same treatment.
Scunny and Somerset back that up. Two great race tracks that don't pull in the punters. If the sport was force fed to the public by the media like football, it might have a chance. The vast majority of people have never heard of speedway.
